تعد «قرية ظالمة» من أجمل ما كتب د.محمد كامل حسين، بل يراها البعض أجمل ما كتب عن الأيام الأخيرة للسيد المسيح. تناول المؤلف فى هذه القصة بأسلوب راق وسرد شائق مشكلات الإنسان النفسية والفكرية والاجتماعية المزمنة. وقد ترجمت إلى لغات عديدة كالإنجليزية والفرنسية والإسبانية والهولندية والتركية، واستحق من أجلها جائزة الدولة فى الأدب عام 1957.
