Overview
عبر الجواهري عن حزنه وأساه لموت أقاربه وكان لطبيعة الميتة أثر بالغ في نفسه، فقد أجاد وأبدع في رثائه لزوجته وأخيه وأبن عمه فحملت مراثيه فيهم لواعج الحزن العميق. تعد مراثيه لبعض القادة السياسيين سجلاً حافلاً بالأحداث السياسية والاجتماعية، فضلا عن بيانه لوجهة نظره السياسية من خلال شخصية المرثي. لقد كان للجواهري الدور الفعال في بيان الأفكار والآراء التي تصدى لها الشعراء المرثيين، مصوراً بذلك خسارة المجتمع لرحيل مثل هؤلاء المفكرين عنه.
