يقدم كتاب \"تعلم الكبار : ربط النظرية والممارسات\" لمحة عامة عن تعليم الكبار في العصر الحالي التي تؤثر على المتعلمين الكبار كالعولمة، ومجتمع المعرفة، والتكنولوجيا، والتغيرات الديموغرافية وأهم التوجهات والفلسفات الرئيسة في تعلم الكبار، ويتطرق إلى أهم ثلاث نظريات ثم يدرس نظريات أكثر حداثة لتعلم الكبار مثل الأندراغوجيا (الطرق والإستراتيجيات التي تهتم بتعلم الكبار) والتعلم التحويلي. كما يتطرق الكتاب إلى كيفية ارتباط تجارب الحياة والتعلم على نحو متكامل وتقومان بمراجعة دور التحفيز والتعلم، ويشمل الكتاب بعض الأعمال الحديثة المهمة في علم الأعصاب والتعلم حيث يستكشف الوظائف الإدراكية في الدماغ كالذاكرة والذكاء والتطور المعرفي، والحكمة. ويتطرق إلى مدى انتشار التكنولوجيا.
