يشهد عالم المعرفة تطورا متسارعا نحو توظيف تكنولوجيا المعلومات في كافة مناحي الحياة ولما كانت المكتبات ومؤسسات المعلومات معنية بتنظيم المعرفة وإتاحتها، كان لابد لها من اعتماد نظم لها مفتوحة المصدر وبخاصة في الدول النامية والسودان واحد منها. تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف على واقع تطبيق النظم مفتوحة المصدر في المكتبات الجامعية وإلى أي مدى استطاعت هذه المكتبات توظيف مزايا هذه النظم وإنزالها على أرض الواقع. لأجل هذه الدراسة وظف الباحثون المنهج التاريخي لاستقراء الأدبيات المتعلقة بالموضوع وكذلك المنهج الوصفي التحليلي مع توظيف أسئلة المراجعة Checklist مستهدفين آراء أمناء المكتبات للاستفادة من خبراتهم في المجال. توصلت الدراسة إلى عدد من النتائج أبرزها انتشار نظم المكتبات مفتوحة في المكتبات الجامعية في السودان وأن هذه المكتبات لازالت لم تستفيد من كافة إمكانية هذه النظم.

This study aims to identifying academic librarians training needs in the field of information technology in Sudan it also aims to identifying a librarian attitudes towards the training courses they have received. The researchers have applied an analytic descriptive method, and they selected a random sample of 117 individuals representing 13 Sudanese universities. They distributed a questionnaire to investigate the required data for this study. The study has arrived at several finding, the most important ones were: highlighting a number of academic librarian training needs and identified the places where they had their courses at, and how do they appreciate the training programs. Also shades were thrown on some hindrances which confront the training processes. According to these results the study suggests some solutions including entrusting the training of academic libraries staff to a federal systems and providing opportunities of abroad training.
