BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Geopolitical risks have made significant changes in the integration ties between the countries of Central Asia, which has affected the sustainable development of the agroindustrial complex and food security. The adoption of urgent measures to improve food security, on the one hand, is a necessary condition for the development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, but on the other hand, it can lead to a decrease in the level of environmental security in the country if the possible consequences in the reintegration process are not considered. Therefore, this article aimed to examine the sustainable agriculture practices implemented in Kazakhstan's agro-industrial complex to improve food security and reduce the environmental impact of agriculture. METHODS: To collect information, a mixed research strategy combining qualitative and quantitative methods was used. The collection of information was carried out in the summer of 2022 and consisted of three stages. In the first stage, statistical information was collected; in the second stage, a correlation analysis was carried out; and in the third stage, a survey of 40 experts was conducted. FINDINGS: The data obtained indicate that the efficiency of Kazakhstan's agricultural production strongly and directly depends on the level of the country's integration into the united Eurasian Economic Union market. Due to the geographical features of Kazakhstan's location, it is necessary to develop areas that are primarily focused on the internal capabilities of the country. Internal changes will help the industry increase international competitiveness and efficiency while promoting sustainable development and ensuring food security and environmental safety. CONCLUSION: The article determined that it is necessary to prioritize developing multilateral partnerships to address transportation and logistics challenges in the export and import of agricultural products, and reduce dependence on the import of seeds, breeding products, fodder, and agricultural machinery. However, to effectively promote these areas, it is necessary to improve food security through the introduction of sustainable agriculture practices, such as crop diversification, conservation agriculture, integrated pest management, and drip irrigation.

The digital transformation of education has been causing dramatic changes in the organization and curriculum of the educational process. The problem of mastering foreign language speaking skills by university students in distance learning format has been attracting growing attention in academic circles worldwide. In addition to the technical difficulties faced by the stakeholders of the online learning process, there has been an increasing focus on other related factors, including psychological barriers and emerging interaction patterns in both student-student communication and teacher-student communication. In this paper, the authors will identify the difficulties faced by the students who learn speaking skills online. A survey was conducted among students of technical specialties of the NUST MISIS University. The survey involved 16 students who were studying English online. The conducted experiment revealed several types of psychological difficulties that arise while learning to speak online. The results of the study will help improve the quality of academic programs in terms of identifying the existing gaps in designing and managing speaking classes online.

The purpose of this paper is to explore the risks associated with lending to tourism and hospitality businesses in the context of COVID-19 restrictions. The author proposes a scoring methodology to assess the quantitative and qualitative factors of borrowers' credit standing based on industry-related risks and the quantification of potential loss given default. The analysis of credit standing draws on actual figures from financial statements of the ten biggest tour operators present in the Russian and Kazakh tourism markets, as well as a survey of experts specialising in bank lending. The findings confirm the proposed hypothesis of a negative impact of the pandemic on the financial condition and credit standing of tourism and hospitality businesses and an increase of banks' credit risks. The trends of lending to tourism and hotel businesses have indicated a contraction of credit supply as a result of the low credit standing of borrowers. An industry analysis shows that losses from the materialisation of credit risks in the group of tourism businesses could be significant for banks. The author concludes that to maintain financial stability and the level of credit in the industry, the state should continue to support the sector, including the provision of soft loans to help finance some items of expenses.
