This study investigated retreatment of oval canals filled with gutta-percha and different sealers using WaveOne Gold (WOG). Single oval canals were prepared to size 30, 0.04 and obturated with gutta percha and AH Plus (AHP) or TotalFill bioceramic (TFBC) sealer. After 6-month incubation, the canals were retreated with WOG Primary (25, 0.07) under simulated body temperature, and the developed load and torque were simultaneously measured. The time and regaining the apical patency were checked. Micro-computed tomography scanning was performed to calculate the remaining obturating materials. An independent t-test and chi-square test were performed at a 95% confidence level. A shorter retreatment time was needed in TFBC than in AHP (
P
= 0.003). However, a higher maximum apical load was reported with AHP (
P
= 0.000). Meanwhile, comparable maximum coronal load and maximum torque values were observed. Apical patency was regained in all TFBC roots and only 75% of the AHP samples (
P
= 0.217). The remaining obturating materials were comparable in TFBC (13.02 ± 8.12%) and AHP (10.11 ± 8.46%) (
P
= 0.398). WOG was able to remove 89.89% and 86.98% of obturating materials in TFBC and AHP, respectively. The TFBC presented lower apical loads and faster retreatment compared to AHP.

Assessment of Bioceramic Sealer Retreatability and Its Influence on Force and Torque Generation

This study assesses the retreatability of TotalFill bioceramic (TFBC) and AH Plus (AHP) sealers and their impact on retreatment force and torque. Twenty-six premolar teeth with single oval canals were instrumented, obturated using the matched gutta-percha cone technique with one of the tested sealers, and then temporized. After a 6-month incubation at 37 °C and 100% humidity, the canals were retreated with the XP Shaper system. During retreatment, the generated force and torque were measured. Micro-CT scanning was run before and after the retreatment procedure to analyze the remaining obturating materials in the canals. The apically directed maximum force in AHP was higher than that in TFBC. The coronally directed maximum force and the maximum torque were comparable between the groups. A higher amount of remaining obturating materials was found in the AHP compared to that in the TFBC. Based on these findings, endodontic sealer had an influence on retreatability, and the TFBC showed less remaining obturating materials and lower retreatment forces in the apical direction compared to the AHP in extracted teeth with oval canals.

Diagnostic accuracy of large and medium vessel occlusions in acute stroke imaging by neurology residents and stroke fellows: A comparison of CT angiography alone and CT angiography with CT perfusion

Introduction:
Neurology senior residents and stroke fellows are first to clinically assess and interpret imaging studies of patients presenting to the emergency department with acute stroke. The aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic accuracy of brain CT angiography (CTA) with and without CT perfusion (CTP) between neurology senior residents and stroke fellows.
Methods:
In this neuroimaging study, nine practitioners (four senior neurology residents (SNRs) and five stroke fellows (SFs)) clinically assessed and interpreted the imaging data of 50 cases (15 normal images, 21 large vessel occlusions (LVOs) and 14 medium vessel occlusions (MeVOs) in two sessions, 1 week apart in comparison to final diagnosis of experienced neuroradiologist and experienced stroke neurologist consensus. Interrater agreement of CTA alone and CTA with CTP was quantified using kappa statistics, sensitivity, specificity and overall accuracy.
Results:
Overall, arterial occlusions were correctly identified in 221/315 (70.1%) with CTA alone and in 266/315 (84.4%) with CTA and CTP (p < 0.001). The sensitivity of overall arterial occlusions detection with CTA alone was 94.2% (95% CI: 90.8%–96.6%) while with addition of CTP was 98% (95% CI: 95.6%–99.3%), The specificity of CTA alone was 74.7% (95% CI: 67.2%–81.3%) which increased with CTP to 84.4% (95% CI: 77.7%–89.8%). The likelihood of correct identification with CTA alone was 156/189 (82.54%) for LVOs and 65/126 (51.59%) for MeVOs. This increased to 169/189 (89.42%; p = 0.054) for LVOs and 97/126 (76.98%; p < 0.001) for MeVOs when the CTA images with CTP were viewed. There was good overall interrater agreement between readers when using CTA alone (k 0.71, 95% CI, 0.62–0.80) and almost perfect (k 0.85, 95% CI, 0.76–0.94) when CTP was added to the image for interpretation. CTA and CTP had a significantly lower median interquartile range (IQR) interpretation time than CTA alone (114 [IQR, 103–120] s vs 156 [IQR, 133–160] s, p < 0.001).
Discussion:
In cerebral arterial occlusions, the rate of LVO and MeVOs detections increases when adding CTP to CTA. The accuracy and time for diagnosing arterial occlusion can be significantly improved if CTP is added to CTA. As MeVOs are commonly missed by front-line neurology senior residents or stroke fellows, cases with significant deficits and no apparent arterial occlusions need to be reviewed with neuroradiological expertise.

The emergence of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) marks a significant advancement in the automotive industry, transitioning from driver-assistance technologies to fully autonomous systems. This change is particularly impactful in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, which is a significant automotive market and technological hub. However, the adoption of AVs in the GCC faces unique challenges due to the influence of cultural norms and geographical characteristics. Our research utilizes a customized framework of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), which is adapted to include cultural and geographical factors. This approach fills a gap in the existing literature by identifying and analyzing the key factors affecting the adoption of AVs in the GCC. Our findings indicate a difference in the receptiveness towards AVs among different demographics. Younger participants displayed a more favorable attitude towards AVs compared to older individuals. Additionally, gender and educational attainment play significant roles in the acceptance of AVs. Specifically, our results suggest that there are variations in acceptance rates among genders and individuals with varying levels of education. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has a relatively high acceptance rate of AVs due to its advanced infrastructure and openness to technological innovations. Our study identifies facilitating conditions and performance expectancy as crucial determinants of intention to use AVs in the GCC. It emphasizes the importance of infrastructure readiness and the perceived advantages of AVs in promoting their adoption.

Background: The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease that has been spreading worldwide in an unprecedented manner. The knowledge, attitude and practices of the general population play a vital role in prevention of COVID-19. Objectives: The present study aimed to assess the COVID-19-related knowledge, attitudes and practices of the general public of Sakaka, Saudi Arabia, to identify which populations show low levels of knowledge, attitudes and practices towards COVID-19, making them highly likely to remain vulnerable during the pandemic. Methodology: For this study, a nineteen-item closed-ended questionnaire was hand delivered to the general public, including patients and other hospital attendees attending the Outpatient Department of the College of Dentistry, Jouf University, Saudi Arabia. The research questions focused on the demographic information, knowledge, attitude and practices related to COVID-19. Data analysis is presented through tables and descriptive methods. Results: A total of 722 participants took part in the survey questionnaire. The majority of the respondents belonged to the age group of 28–37 years (n = 320; 44.3%), with female participants (n = 419; 58.0%) outnumbering the male participants (n = 303; 42.0%). Most of the respondents had good knowledge, attitudes and practices towards COVID-19. Patients aged 28–37 years (p = 0.000) with a master’s degree (p = 0.011) and government employees (p = 0.000) had significantly better knowledge than their counterparts. Significantly optimistic attitudes were noticed in participants aged 28–37 years (p = 0.000) with a master’s degree (p = 0.000), the married (p = 0.047) and government employees (p = 0.000). Government employees (p = 0.014) had significantly better practices. Conclusions: Overall, the participants of this study had good COVID-19-related knowledge, attitudes and practices. These findings would be useful in motivating the general population to follow the precautionary measures that will aid in prevention of COVID-19. Furthermore, the findings may help policymakers identify the target populations, especially the less educated and older adults, for COVID-19 prevention and health education.

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease is a rare systemic condition that can affect multiple organs, though involvement of the central nervous system is uncommon. This report discusses an unusual case of a 64-year-old man who experienced neurological symptoms due to a spinal lesion. Imaging revealed a compressive mass at the cervical spine level, which was surgically removed and later confirmed to be IgG4-related hypertrophic spinal pachymeningitis. This case highlights the importance of considering rare inflammatory conditions in the differential diagnosis of spinal lesions and emphasizes the role of histopathological confirmation for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

The aim of the study was to translate and validate the Urdu version of the Chronic Oral Mucosal Disease Questionnaire (COMDQ) and measure the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in Pakistani patients with chronic oral mucosal disease. One hundred and twenty patients with chronic oral mucosal diseases were recruited for this study. Two types of reliability of the COMDQ were tested. First, the internal consistency was calculated using Cronbach’s alpha, and second, test-retest reliability was calculated using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). Convergent validity was assessed for testing the validity of the COMDQ by examining the correlations with the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and OHIP-14 using Pearson’s correlations coefficient, and a t-test was used to compare the COMDQ domains and the socio-demographic characteristics. The most prevalent chronic oral mucosal disease (COMD) among the participants was recurrent aphthous stomatitis (47.5%), and the least prevalent was oral granulomatosis (6.6%). The total mean score for COMDQ was 43.5 (SD = 18.4). It showed a high level of internal consistency (Cronbach’s a = 0.81), and test-retest reliability was also good (r = 0.85). The total score of COMDQ was strongly correlated with the total score of OHIP-14 and VAS (r = 0.86 and r = 0.83), which indicated good convergent validity. The score of pain and the functional limitation domain reported a significant difference with age (p < 0.021) and employment status (p < 0.034). The Urdu version of COMDQ is an accurate, valid, and reliable instrument that can be used to assess the OHRQoL in patients with chronic oral mucosal diseases in Pakistani and other Urdu-speaking populations of different age groups.

Hybridizing batteries and supercapacitors is an innovative and promising way to meet the growing requirements of high energy and power densities in different energy storage devices. These devices have multifunctional behavior, with excellent electrochemical properties and the ability to address the limitations of conventional devices. The novel nanocomposites of NbSn-MOF@GDSs have been synthesized and studied with promising energy storage properties in the present research work. The morphological and electrochemical studies were performed for the prepared nanocomposite electrodes. The prepared material showed a great specific capacity of 423.8 mAh/g (1530.3 C/g) at a current density of 1.2 A/g with an outstanding cyclic stability of 87.1% and 81.6% capacitive retention after 5000 cycles and energy density (E
d
) of 65 Wh/kg and power density (P
d
) of 1400 W/kg. These findings advocated that the NbSn-MOF@GQDs-based battery hybrid supercapacitors can have potential applications in electronics, wearable, and implantable devices due to their suitability for mass production along with environmental safety.
