2005
Classical theory of contemporary political regimes has distinguished three main categories: democratic, totalitarian, & authoritarian. The current authors have turned their attention to this classification in the context of Tunisia in order to reexamine the pertinence of theories on authoritarianism. According to this review, this classic theory considers authoritarian government in residual terms -- in other words as being neither democratic not totalitarian -- & further more as a transitory system bound to turn to one of the other mentioned extremes. Through reviewing a broad spectrum of contemporary writings on Tunisian politics, the current article aims to reflect on political action between historical conditionality & the possible. References.
