Behavioral Health Innovations during COVID in Black and Hispanic Communities
In an effort to address behavioral health disparities, authors conducted a community engagement research study to identify innovative practices that behavioral health agencies utilized in Black and Hispanic communities during COVID-19. Research methods included community agency input, a targeted survey of 15 behavioral health agencies, and focus groups. Authors identified innovative practices in eight areas of physical safety, emotional safety, accessibility through technology, accessibility for face-to-face counseling, affordability, leveraging resources, availability, and changes in procedures. Authors discuss recommendations and implications for social justice action to decrease behavioral health disparities.

Service Learning With Children Affected by Poverty: Facilitating Multicultural Competence in Counseling Education Students
The author defines and presents a rationale for service learning, provides procedures for implementing service learning with children affected by poverty, and describes methods of facilitating multicultural counseling competence. Examples are provided from a graduate counseling class that conducted group play therapy with 11 African American children at a community center. La autora define y presenta una base para aprender de servicio, proporciona los procedimientos para aplicar el servicio aprender con niños afectado por la pobreza, y describe los métodos de facilitar aconsejar la competencia multicultural. Los ejemplos se proporcionan de un graduado que aconseja la clase que realizó el grupo la terapia del juego con 11 niños Americanos Africanos en un centro de la comunidad.
School Counselors' Perceptions of Career Counseling and Career Testing: Preferences, Priorities, and Predictors
Limited information on the actual and preferred career counseling and career testing activities of school counselors exists. An analysis of a statewide school counselors' survey revealed career counseling and testing preferences, priorities and predictors. Results revealed counselors preferred trait/factor approaches to career counseling, including Holland's RIASEC theory, Person-Environment-Correspondence theory and Cognitive Information Processing theory, respectively. With respect to career counseling and career testing priorities, means comparisons indicated that elementary, middle, and high school counselors' actual time performing career counseling duties is minimal; however, they desire to spend significantly more time on career counseling and testing. Multiple regressions revealed important predictor variables for actual and ideal time spent on career counseling and career testing. Limitations and recommendations for further research are discussed.
Child-Centered Group Play Therapy With African American Boys at the Elementary School Level
Culturally sensitive counseling interventions are needed for African American boys in elementary school. Two important components of counseling African American boys are honoring the African worldview and building self‐confidence. Child‐centered group play therapy is a common intervention for elementary school children. In this article, the authors describe how child‐centered group play therapy with African American boys at the elementary school level honors the African worldview and facilitates their self‐confidence. Counseling implications and recommendations for research are discussed.
