تقول بوبي براون، فنانة المكياج، بأن الأمر الوحيد الذي تمنت معرفته وفي مرحلة مراهقتها، هو أن معظم النساء والفتيات يعانين من نقص في تقدير الذات، لكنهن ومع الوقت وشيئا فشيئا يكتسبن القليل من ذلك. إلا أنه ومن المهم معرفة أن تقبل الذات هو المفتاح الأساسي لظهور المراهقة رائعة الجمال، وذلك يعني سعادتها بما هي عليه من عطاءات آلهية في الشكل، (طولها، لون بشرتها، عيناها، أنفها...)، وهذا بالتأكيد يمنحها الكثير من الراحة والجمال. وتضيف بوبي قائلة بأن هناك شيء واحد تريد من كل فتاة استخلاصه من كتابها هذا وهو أن تكون قادرة على اكتشاف جمالها الفريد الذي تجهله لتسعد وتحتفل به. فسنوات المراهقة ليست بالمرحلة السهلة لتكون المراهقة نفسها ومختلفة عن كل الفتيات حولها، إلا أنه من الطبيعي أن تتملكها رغبة تقبل الآخرين لها، ولكن عليها معرفة أن التمادي بذلك الإحساس معناه افتقادها الثقة بذاتها، ومن ثم خسارات لذاتها التي تحاول تشكيلها بطريقة تظهرها نسخة طبق الأصل عن إحداهن (من الممثلات أو من إحدى صديقاتها أو.. أو..)، لتكون موضع إعجاب الآخرين بها. بإمكانها ذلك حيث بمقدورها تغيير لون شعرها وحتى لون عينيها، وحتى جعل جسمها ضمن مقاييس معينة، إلا أن الأصعب امتلاك الثقة بالذات الذي يعني الاعتزاز بكل ما تملكه أي فتاة من مقومات جمالية.
