MGM Grand Air Agrees to Purchase Two New Boeing 757-200 Aircraft; Purchase to Represent More Than $100 Million Investment by Airline
MGM Grand Air has signed a letter of proposal and deposited initial payment with Boeing to purchase two of the Seattle-based manufacturer's 757-200 long-range aircraft. The planned purchase of these new planes, configured to the airline's unique seating arrangement, represents an investment by the airline of more than $100 million. \"We have an ongoing commitment to provide our customers with Grand Class Service now and in the years ahead,\" said Charles L. Van Waters Rogers Acquires Hamblet Hayes From CIBA-GEIGY
CIBA-GEIGY Corp. Friday completed the sale of Hamblet & Hayes Co., a broad line chemical distributor, to Van Waters & Rogers of Seattle. Terms of the sale were not released. Van Waters & Rogers officials said they expect the acquisition to add approximately $32 million to its industrial chemicals sales. Van Waters & Rogers, the largest chemical distributor in North America, is a subsidiary of Univar Corp., also based in Seattle. The company also operates as Van Waters & Rogers Ltd. in Canada. Hamblet & Hayes, headquartered in Salem, Mass., was acquired by CIBA-GEIGY's Dyestuff's & Chemicals Division in 1978. The company had served as a distributor of solvents for CIBA-GEIGY and for other manufacturers. Included in the acquisition were Hamblet & Hayes sites in Lewiston, Maine and Gloversville, N.Y.
