Merlin myth a la New Age
As a young Mediaeval scholar, I deeply resent the co-optation of Mediaeval literature, culture and ideas by the hordes of New Agists and fly-by-night fantasy writers who look to the Middle Ages as a series of compelling and largely fabricated snapshots of an ideal world of knights and ladies coursing about on horses and jousting themselves into a tizzy of love and high moral values. Chopra is a rather good example of a writer whose purpose in retelling the Mediaeval legend of Arthur is quite clearly and unabashedly to illuminate a contemporary audience. But his book, like other modern co- optations of this same legendary material, sees a certain picture of Mediaeval life to the exclusion of the more mundane but also more human documents of this culture. Chopra has approached the fertile myth of Camelot from a very modern, religiously syncretic perspective that resembles the collection of writers who call themselves New Agists. For him, it provides a set of values to be reinterpreted through a metaphysical lens, yielding important and salient spiritual advice to modern seekers who wish to become the Merlin inside of each of us.
Cabbing the world
The Vietnamese boat people are now desperate Mexicans dying of thirst in our deserts. In between we received Russian Jews fleeing for religious freedom, Africans and Haitians starving at home, or much less often, someone fortunate like me--an Indian filling up the Vietnam-era doctor shortage in 1970. My incentive was opportunity, not desperation, and yet the society I left behind was in many ways stifling and provincial. My kind got to breathe freer air just as much as those seeking political asylum. And in return, we helped make India more like America over the years.
Muhammad : a story of God's messenger and the revelation that changed the world
\"\"Without guides who reached higher consciousness, the world would be bereft of its greatest visionaries - fatally bereft, in fact. Muhammad sensed this aching gap in the world around him. He appeals to me most because he remade the world by going inward. That's the kind of achievement only available on the spiritual path. In the light of what the Prophet achieved, he raises my hope that all of us who lead everyday lives can be touched by the divine. The Koran deserves its place as a song of the soul, to be celebrated wherever the soul matters.\"--The Introduction Born into the factious world of war-torn Arabia, Muhammad's life is a gripping and inspiring story of one man's tireless fight for unity and peace. In a world where greed and injustice ruled, Muhammad created change by affecting hearts and minds. Just as the story of Jesus embodies the message of Christianity, Muhammad's life reveals the core of Islam. Deepak Chopra shares the life of Muhammad as never before, putting his teachings in a new light. Following the historical record but offering a unique perspective, Chopra's Muhammad captures the historical prophet but more importantly shows us why his teachings are more important now than ever before\"--Provided by publisher.

The healing self : a revolutionary new plan to supercharge your immunity and stay well for life
\"Combining the best current medical knowledge with a new approach grounded in integrative medicine, Chopra and Tanzi offer a groundbreaking new model of healing and the healing system, one of the main mysteries in the mind-body connection\"-- Provided by publisher.
The Nature of Consciousness
The Nature of Consciousness challenges the prevailing materialist paradigm that is holding humanity back, suggesting that consciousness is the fundamental reality of the apparent duality of mind and matter, and that overlooking or ignoring this reality is the root cause of the suffering that pervades and motivates most people's lives, as well as the wider conflicts that exist between communities and nations. This comprehensive investigation will satisfy readers of all kinds, from the existentially minded to the rigorously scientific to the earnestly hopeful for peace.
Quantum body : the new science of living a longer, healthier, more vital life
\"In an unprecedented collaboration between three of today's most powerful minds, Deepak Chopra, M.D., teams up with physicist Jack Tuszynski, Ph.D., and endocrinologist Brian Fertig, M.D., to bring readers a visionary work that delves into the innovative world of quantum science and shows how unlocking its secrets can revolutionize how we live and age--and, ultimately, how we can eradicate disease. The key is the quantum body. Unlike our physical body, which is subject to aging, injury, and decay, the quantum body exists on a sub-atomic level and is the infinite, invisible source of everyday reality that affects your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and biological responses. Without your quantum body, there is no physical body. And this lack of awareness of the most crucial part of ourselves negatively impacts our lives every day. Through a powerful combination of prescriptive exercises and innovative research into the quantum world, the authors unveil seven breakthroughs that will revolutionize the future of everyone's well-being. Central to this revolution is a groundbreaking understanding of metabolism-the way our cells process energy-that promises to challenge our understanding of modern medicine as we know it. Though all too familiar in the physical world, Alzheimer's, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and heart disease do not exist at the fundamental level of quantum reality. By harnessing the power of the quantum body, we can significantly improve our physical and mental well-being, including supporting healthy cell, tissue, and organ function, boosting immunity, promoting mental resilience, and expanding our understanding of what it means to live a happy and purposeful life. In this groundbreaking book, Chopra, Tuszynski, and Fertig show you the way by unveiling the \"real\" reality of your body and mind as never before and providing a vision for a tomorrow that is already here\"-- Provided by publisher.
