BREAKING THROUGH PROFESSIONAL PLATEAUS
2021
[...]I knew overindexing with my time and money would help me meet people faster and accelerate my integration into that community. For whatever project or endeavor you're working on, it pays to focus intently, at least in the short term, so you can master the principles and make the connections. Often, if one of my executive coaching clients feels that their professional life is in a rut, it's typically because they've focused too intently on one career wave and haven't moved onto the next. The first step is to immerse yourself in learning, which could take the form of reading, taking courses, having informational interviews, or attending training.

Business to business commerce
2016
According to the Content Marketing Institute, blogging is used by 80% of B2B firms, trailing only social media, e-newsletters, and articles posted on a company's website (Pulizzi, 2016). The advantages of social media marketing interaction extend not only to enhanced customer experience, but also to brand (organization) awareness, loyalty, and website traffic (DeMers, 2014). Because blogs have moved into the mainstream of corporate communication channels (and are increasingly prevalent public relation tools), the history of blogs is framed as a branding tool that highlights best emerging practices.

ESTABLISH YOUR SIDE HUSTLE
2019
[...]a McKinsey Global Institute study states that \"as many as 45 percent of the activities individuals are paid to perform can be automated by adapting currently demonstrated technologies,\" including senior executives' duties. For the past decade, I've studied the future of work closely, and in my latest book, Entrepreneurial You, I lay out a strategy by which people can build true career insurance for themselves: developing entrepreneurial side ventures-even if you love your day job and have no intention of making a change. Today, I earn my living in nine different ways: writing books, speaking, teaching business school, consulting, executive coaching, teaching online courses, facilitating in-person workshops, running mastermind groups, and making affiliate income (commissions when I refer people to purchase products or services that I endorse). New skills. Because she started her business from scratch with no outside help for the first two years, Siston says, \"I've had to teach myself more skills in the past three years than I did in the first 15 years of my career,\" including web design, IT, content creation, sales, marketing, and social media.

2019
Working from home can cut you off from spontaneous interactions that can spark new insights. And, at times, the solitude may lead to isolation or the feeling that you're left out at work. First, since you're not physically interacting with co-workers, it's important to seek out an online community of like-minded practitioners. Second, it's especially useful for at-home workers to leverage video technology. Finally, make a concerted effort to learn more about the personal lives of your colleagues.

Breaking Into HR Without 'Official' Experience
2017
To separate yourself from the pack, you need to embrace not only the qualitative, holistic ethos that is already so prevalent in HR but also its opposite- namely, quantitative and analytic skills that showcase how HR's initiatives can benefit the bottom line. If you work for a large company and already have deep expertise in a particular area of the business, make a pitch to company leadership asking to take a \"tour of duty\" in HR-in other words, a short stint with a well-defined business goal.
