Professor Munakata Tadakusu has dedicated his life to unravelling the mysteries of Japan's past. Esteemed for his expert knowledge, the Professor is invited to deliver a lecture at the British Museum in London on mythology and folklore. But when the Stonehenge megaliths suddenly disappear from Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire during the Professor's visit, he has to immerse himself in the history and deep-seated rivalries of Europe in order to foil a sinister scheme that endangers the museum and its collections.
