IntroductionShared psychotic disorder or Folie a deux is an unusual mental disorder characterized by the transfer of delusions between two or more people who have a close relationship. An individual (inductor or primary) who suffers from a psychotic disorder, influences one or more individuals (induced or secondary). Delusional disorders or schizophrenia are the most commonly diagnosed disorders in the inductor individual.ObjectivesThe objective of this study is to describe the clinical characteristics of an unusual entity such as shared psychotic disorder.MethodsDescription of a clinical case of shared psychotic disorder of a family treated in the emergency room during confinement.Results47-year-old woman, goes to the emergency room with her husband. No psychiatric history. Both the patient and her husband verbalize delusions of harm and surveillance from neighbors. They also report that two of their children hold this belief. The mother, unlike the rest of the cohabitants, presents disqualifying auditory hallucinations. Her husband decides to take her to the emergency room because he finds her distressed, “between two realities” and aggressive when she is confronted about hallucinations. We start treatment with oral paliperidone in the mother and a subsequent follow- up, and a total remission of symptoms in all cohabitants.ConclusionsAs in other mental disorders, the correct diagnosis and subsequent referral are essential. The separation of the inductor individual from the induced one is useful for the correct management of this disorder. With timely intervention and a regular follow-up, the Folie a deux has a good prognosis.DisclosureNo significant relationships.

Even though marandu palisadegrass is widely used in Brazil, the consumption of this forage may cause photosensitization in ruminants due to the protodioscin. This study aimed to recommend a harvest cutting interval for haymaking that provides a better nutritional value and lower levels of protodioscin. The experimental treatments were four cutting intervals (21 d, 35 d, 49 d, and 63 days of regrowth period up to forage harvest). The experimental design was a completely randomized block design with 4 treatments and 4 replications. We assessed the forage production, chemical composition, in vitro digestibility, in vitro degradation kinetics, and protodioscin content. The forage accumulation rate did not differ with the increased cutting interval. The crude protein contents and in vitro digestibility of dry matter decreased linearly with the increased cutting interval in fresh and hay material. The greatest gas production in hay material was occurred in 21 d cutting interval, which was 26%, 14%, and 5% greater than cutting intervals of 63, 49, and 35 d, respectively. A linear increase was observed in protodioscin concentration in hay according to the cutting interval, which in the hay with 63 d cutting interval was 7%, 29%, and 43% greater than hays with cutting interval of 49, 35, and 21 d, respectively. In addition, protodioscin contents were lower in hay compared to fresh material. The haymaking process reduced protodioscin content in relation to forage before haymaking. Our results showed that the better condition to harvest marandu palisadegrass for hay was at 21 d. The better condition to develop a productive canopy is associated with better nutritive value and lower protodioscin content.

Many studies have tested intermittent fasting (IF) in athletes, but its effects on female CrossFit athletes remain relatively unexplored in the existing literature. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the effects of 24-h IF on the physical performance of female CrossFit practitioners. Eleven female CrossFit athletes (age: 30.91 ± 3.42, weight: 65.26 ± 7.55 kg, height: 1.66 ± 0.05 m) participated in the study. The study used a crossover design with fasting and eating conditions. Participants completed an exercise test, standing long jump, and handgrip strength assessment. Hydration status, heart rate, blood lactate, blood glucose, rates of perceived exertion, and hunger were measured. Results showed significant differences in blood lactate concentration (F = 5.435, p = 0.042, η2p = 0.352). Resting blood lactate concentration was significantly lower in the fasting trial than in the eating trial (p < 0.001), but post-exercise blood lactate concentrations were higher in the fasting trial than in the eating trial (p < 0.001). No differences were found in performance times (p > 0.05). In conclusion, this pilot study of females suggests that 24-h fasting does not impair exercise performance or negatively affect physiological parameters in CrossFit athletes.

Purdue manual dexterity testing: A cohort study of community-dwelling elderly
2021
The Purdue Pegboard Test is a manual dexterity test that requires the manipulation of pegs, washers, and collars. Our population for this research study focused on the geriatric community owing to the lack of recent available normative data.
The purpose of this study was to provide updated normative data for hand therapists to use in clinical practice to determine if seniors have dexterity deficits.
This is a cohort study.
This study was completed through a convenience sample which included 128 participants. Participants were stratified into three age groups (60-69, 70-79, and 80+). Participants were asked to complete the Purdue Pegboard Test. Mean scores were analyzed using an independent-sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance to compare the mean scores of each designated age group.
A one-way analysis of variance reported statistically significant differences between the 3 age groups (F = 15.03, P < .00). The results supported that those individuals who were younger (60-69) scored better on the assessment than those aged 80+ years. There was not a statistically significant difference between PPT mean scores of males and females.
Mean scores for the PPT for community-dwelling seniors were established.
The findings from this study support that dexterity may decline with age, which can affect occupational performance over time.
•Participants between the ages of 60 to 65 years had the highest scores on the Purdue Pegboard Test.•Males and females received similar scores on the Purdue Pegboard Test.•There was not a difference between right-hand and left-hand scores on the Purdue Pegboard Test.

Study of forward Z + jet production in pp collisions at SQRTs = 7 TeV
2014
(ProQuest: ... denotes formulae and/or non-USASCII text omitted; see image) Abstract A measurement of the Z([arrow right] [mu] ^sup +^ [mu] ^sup -^) + jet production cross-section in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy ... = 7 TeV is presented. The analysis is based on an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb^sup -1^ recorded by the LHCb experiment. Results are shown with two jet transverse momentum thresholds, 10 and 20 GeV, for both the overall cross-section within the fiducial volume, and for six differential cross-section measurements. The fiducial volume requires that both the jet and the muons from the Z boson decay are produced in the forward direction (2.0 < [eta] < 4.5). The results show good agreement with theoretical predictions at the second-order expansion in the coupling of the strong interaction. [Figure not available: see fulltext.]
