Christened after a catch-phrase coined by WGLT blues guru Frank Black, the Blues Blowtorch Society is scheduled to unveil its goals from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at downtown Bloomington's Illinois Brewing Co., with a live quadruple-header featuring The Robin Crowe Band, Catfish & Steve The Harp, 6V6 and The Bill Porter Project. According to [Ed \"Cajun Eddie\" Duvall], the launching plans were made as far back as late summer 1999, at downtown Normal's Sugar Creek Arts Festival. During the event, which features live bands from the area, Duvall, Cacco and several other blues lovers decided it was time for Bloomington-Normal to host its own organized society, a la Peoria's River City Blues Society and Springfield's Central Illinois Blues Society. \"Bloomington-Normal has never really had a blues club or organization to promote the blues,\" says Duvall. \"There's an occasional blues act booked in town, but seldom.\"
