A comprehensive survey of American artist Mark Dion, examining three decades of his critically engaged practice interrogating our relationship with nature The first book in two decades to consider the entire oeuvre of Mark Dion (b. 1961), this volume examines thirty years of the American artist's pioneering inquiries into how we collect, interpret, and display nature. Part of a generation of artists expanding institutional critique in the 1990s, Dion adopted the methods of the archaeologist or the natural history museum, juxtaposing natural objects, taxidermy, books, and more to reorganize the natural and the manmade in poetic, witty ways. These sculptures, installations, and interventions offer novel approaches to questioning institutional power, which he sees as connected to the control and representation of nature. Generously illustrated, this publication introduces new insights and features more than seventy-five artworks.

2008,2007
The SAGE Handbook of Curriculum and Instruction emerges from a concept of curriculum and instruction as a diverse landscape defined and bounded by schools, school boards and their communities, policy, teacher education, and academic research. Each contributing author was asked to comprehensively review the research literature in their assigned topic. These topics, however, are defined by practical places on the landscape e.g. schools and governmental policies for schools. Key Features: o Presents a different vision or re-conceptualization of the field o Provides a comprehensive and inclusive set of authors, ideas, and topics o Takes a global rather than North American parochial approach o Recognizes that curriculum and instruction is broader in scope than is suggested by university research and theory o Reflects post-1992 changes in curriculum policy, practice and scholarship o Represents a rethinking of how school subject matter areas are treated. Teacher education is included in the Handbook with the intent of addressing the role and place of teacher education in bridging state and national curriculum policies and curriculum as enacted in classrooms.

Yotvata
2022,2023
This book presents the final report of the excavations at
Yotvata, the largest oasis in the Arabah Valley, conducted by the
Sonia and Marco Nadler Institute of Archaeology of Tel Aviv
University in 1974-1980 under the direction of Dr. Zeʾev Meshel.
The report covers two central sites: a fortified Iron I site and an
Early Islamic settlement.
The Iron I remains consist of an irregular casemate wall
surrounding a courtyard. The location of this site suggests that
the settlement was established in order to protect the water
sources and to overlook and supervise the nearby crossroads. Based
on the relative proximity of the site to Timna, it may be concluded
that the oasis formed the main source of water and wood for the
population involved in copper production in that region.
The rich finds uncovered at the Early Islamic
settlement-including a large courtyard building and a nearby
bathhouse, among other structures-point to habitation from the end
of the seventh to the early ninth century CE. The proximity of the
settlement to a sophisticated irrigation system ( qanat )
and the administrative/economic ostraca discovered at the site
suggest that it served as the center of an agricultural estate
owned by an elite Muslim family. Among the unique finds is a large
assemblage of locally produced, handmade pottery, which is
thoroughly studied here.
The findings from the excavations at the Yotvata oasis have made
a major contribution to the study of Early Islamic settlement and
material culture in the greater Arabah region and beyond.
