In Search of an Association Between Conception Risk and Prejudice
Recent research suggests a relationship between conception risk and racial bias fertile women showed stronger racial preferences for White people relative to Black people than nonfertile women (McDonald, Asher, Kerr, & Navarrete, 2011; Navarrete, Fessler, Fleischman, & Geyer, 2009). We sought to extend these findings to other social groups and investigate possible mechanisms. However, in four studies (Total N = 2226), four studies (N=2226) that failed to observe a relationship between conception risk and racial prejudice Reprinted by permission of Sage Publications
Cell image classification: a comparative overview
Cell image classification methods are currently being used in numerous applications in cell biology and medicine. Applications include understanding the effects of genes and drugs in screening experiments, understanding the role and subcellular localization of different proteins, as well as diagnosis and prognosis of cancer from images acquired using cytological and histological techniques. We review three different approaches for cell image classification: numerical feature extraction, end to end classification with neural networks, and transport-based morphometry. In addition, we provide comparisons on four different cell imaging datasets to highlight the relative strength of each method.
Focused Clinical Query Understanding and Retrieval of Medical Snippets powered through a Healthcare Knowledge Graph
Clinicians face several significant barriers to search and synthesize accurate, succinct, updated, and trustworthy medical information from several literature sources during the practice of medicine and patient care. In this talk, we will be presenting our research behind the development of a Focused Clinical Search Service, powered by a Healthcare Knowledge Graph, to interpret the query intent behind clinical search queries and retrieve relevant medical snippets from a diverse corpus of medical literature.
