Recuerdo, recordemos. Ética y política en Rosario Castellanos
2016
Studying Castellanos's essays chronologically, Reyes discerns an increasing confidence in the writer's tone, most evident in the essays during the author's time in Israel as Mexico's ambassador toward the end of her life. The potentially subversive ideas expressed in this text are argued with irony and humor to shield the author from criticism by those whose approval she needed to finish her degree. Along with Beauvoir, they were some of the major influences in Castellanos's views on the woman question. Because of the complexity and the unconventional propositions made in Sobre cultura femenina, critics of the period misinterpreted its meaning.
