A rural worker infected with a bovine-prevalent genotype of Campylobacter fetus subsp. fetus supports zoonotic transmission and inconsistency of MLST and whole-genome typing
Whole-genome characterisation in clinical microbiology enables to detect trends in infection dynamics and disease transmission. Here, we report a case of bacteraemia due to Campylobacter fetus subsp. fetus in a rural worker under cancer treatment that was diagnosed with cellulitis; the patient was treated with antibiotics and recovered. The routine typing methods were not able to identify the microorganism causing the infection, so it was further analysed by molecular methods and whole-genome sequencing. The multi-locus sequence typing (MLST) revealed the presence of the bovine-associated ST-4 genotype. Whole-genome comparisons with other C. fetus strains revealed an inconsistent phylogenetic position based on the core genome, discordant with previous ST-4 strains. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first C. fetus subsp. fetus carrying the ST-4 isolated from humans and represents a probable case of zoonotic transmission from cattle.
Homogeneous Kähler and Sasakian structures related to complex hyperbolic spaces
We study homogeneous Kähler structures on a non-compact Hermitian symmetric space and their lifts to homogeneous Sasakian structures on the total space of a principal line bundle over it, and we analyse the case of the complex hyperbolic space.
HOMOGENEOUS RIEMANNIAN STRUCTURES ON BERGER 3-SPHERES
The homogeneous Riemannian structures on the three-dimensional Berger spheres, their corresponding reductive decompositions and the associated groups of isometries are obtained. The Berger 3-spheres are also considered as homogeneous almost contact metric manifolds.
ON THE CLASSIFICATION THEOREMS OF ALMOST-HERMITIAN OR HOMOGENEOUS KÄHLER STRUCTURES
A proof by Young tableaux and symmetrizers is given of the classification theorems by Gray and Hervella of almost-Hermitian structures and by Abbena and Garbiero of homogeneous Kähler structures.
STEIN EMBEDDING THEOREM FOR $\\mathbb{B}$-MANIFOLDS
An analogue of the Stein embedding theorem for $C^\\infty$ manifolds endowed with two equidimensional supplementary foliations is proved. AMS 2000 Mathematics subject classification: Primary 30G35. Secondary 16P10; 26E05; 32E10; 53C12; 57R30.
CHERN-SIMONS FORMS ASSOCIATED TO HOMOGENEOUS PSEUDO-RIEMANNIAN STRUCTURES
Forms of Chern-Simons type associated to homogeneous pseudo-Riemannian structures are considered. The corresponding secondary classes are a measure of the lack of a homogeneous pseudo-Riemannian space to be locally symmetric. Explicit computations are done for some pseudo-Riemannian Lie groups and their compact quotients.
A A -differentiability and A A -analyticity
Let AA be a finite-dimensional commutative algebra over R\\mathbb {R} and let CAr(U)C_{A}^{r}(U), Cω(U,A)C^{\\omega }(U,A) and OA(U)\\mathcal { O}_{A}(U) be the ring of AA-differentiable functions of class Cr,0≤r≤∞C^{r},\\,0 \\leq r \\leq \\infty, the ring of real analytic mappings with values in AA and the ring of AA-analytic functions, respectively, defined on an open subset UU of AnA^{n}. We prove two basic results concerning AA-differentiability and AA-analyticity: 1st1^{st}) OA(U)=CA∞(U)⋂Cω(U,A)\\mathcal { O}_{A}(U) = C^{\\infty }_{A}(U) \\bigcap C^{\\omega }(U,A), 2nd2^{nd}) OA(U)=CA∞(U)\\mathcal { O}_{A}(U) = C^{\\infty }_{A}(U) if and only if AA is defined over C\\mathbb {C}.
Homogeneous Kaehler and Sasakian structures related to complex hyperbolic spaces
We study homogeneous Kaehler structures on a non-compact Hermitian symmetric space and their lifts to homogeneous Sasakian structures on the total space of a principal line bundle over it, and we analyse the case of the complex hyperbolic space.
The canonical 8-form on manifolds with holonomy group Spin(9)
An explicit expression of the canonical 8-form on a Riemannian manifold with a Spin(9)-structure, in terms of the nine local symmetric involutions involved, is given. The list of explicit expressions of all the canonical forms related to Berger's list of holonomy groups is thus completed. Moreover, some results on Spin(9)-structures as G-structures defined by a tensor and on the curvature tensor of the Cayley planes, are obtained.
