Los servicios de orientación sociolaboral constituyen un gran apoyo para la inserción laboral-profesional de las personas demandantes de empleo. Esta investigación se propone indagar acerca de la valoración que merecen los distintos elementos que configuran las buenas prácticas de orientación y las debilidades en los servicios de empleo de la Región de Murcia (España), a partir de las opiniones de personas usuarias y de profesionales de la Orientación. Para ello, se aplica un cuestionario, realizando un análisis comparativo entre agentes intervinientes, en el marco de un estudio tipo encuesta de carácter descriptivo, inferencial y correlacional. Entre las buenas prácticas percibidas destaca la focalización en la persona usuaria y en sus circunstancias; al tiempo que las carencias se asocian principalmente a la transparencia de sus métodos y acciones, y a la accesibilidad de los servicios. Se identifican discrepancias entre ambos grupos, con valoraciones más positivas por parte de las personas orientadoras.

Quantification of Total Phenolic and Carotenoid Content in Blackberries (Rubus Fructicosus L.) Using Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) and Multivariate Analysis

A rapid method to quantify the total phenolic content (TPC) and total carotenoid content (TCC) in blackberries using near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) was carried out aiming to provide reductions in analysis time and cost for the food industry. A total of 106 samples were analysed using the Folin-Ciocalteu method for TPC and a method based on Ultraviolet-Visible Spectrometer for TCC. The average contents found for TPC and TCC were 24.27 mg·g−1 dw and 8.30 µg·g−1 dw, respectively. Modified partial least squares (MPLS) regression was used for obtaining the calibration models of these compounds. The RPD (ratio of the standard deviation of the reference data to the standard error of prediction (SEP)) values from external validation for both TPC and TCC were between 1.5 < RPDp < 2.5 and RER values (ratio of the range in the reference data to SEP) were 5.92 for TPC and 8.63 for TCC. These values showed that both equations were suitable for screening purposes. MPLS loading plots showed a high contribution of sugars, chlorophyll, lipids and cellulose in the modelling of prediction equations.

Sprouted Barley Flour as a Nutritious and Functional Ingredient

The increasing demand for healthy food products has promoted the use of germinated seeds to produce functional flours. In this study, germination conditions were optimized in barley grains with the aim to produce flours with high nutritional and biofunctional potential using response surface methodology (RSM). The impact of germination time (0.8–6 days) and temperature (12–20 °C) on barley quality was studied. Non-germinated barley was used as the control. The content of vitamins B1, B2 and C, and proteins increased notably after germination, especially at longer times, while levels of fat, carbohydrates, fibre, and β-glucan were reduced. Total phenolic compounds, γ-aminobutyric acid and antioxidant activity determined by Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity increased between 2-fold and 4-fold during sprouting, depending on germination conditions and this increase was more pronounced at higher temperatures (16–20 °C) and longer times (5–6 days). Procyanidin B and ferulic acid were the main phenolics in the soluble and insoluble fraction, respectively. Procyanidin B levels decreased while bound ferulic acid content increased during germination. Germinated barley flours exhibited lower brightness and a higher glycemic index than the control ones. This study shows that germination at 16 °C for 3.5 days was the optimum process to obtain nutritious and functional barley flours. Under these conditions, sprouts retained 87% of the initial β-glucan content, and exhibited levels of ascorbic acid, riboflavin, phenolic compounds and GABA between 1.4-fold and 2.5-fold higher than the non-sprouted grain.

Assisted Reproduction in the Abrahamic Religions: Ethical Contributions for a Pluralistic Society

Recent advances in reproductive science have prompted a profound reexamination of some of the most fundamental anthropological aspects of human life: the value of nascent human life, the meanings of motherhood and fatherhood, and the concept of family. Abrahamic religious traditions in particular offer a rich moral heritage, developed over centuries, that can significantly contribute to ethical reflection on assisted reproductive technologies. This article examines the Judeo-Christian and Islamic traditions, which are predominant in the Western cultural context and greatly influence the lives and moral frameworks of more than half of the world’s population. The study underscores the strength of the ethical foundations shared across these religious traditions and common values, principles, and moral concerns, while also seeking to understand and integrate the distinctive nuances that differentiate them.

Background: Resistance to HER2-targeted therapies remains a major limitation in the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer, where disease progression inevitably occurs in advanced stages. Development of next-generation strategies that retain activity in resistant disease is therefore a critical priority. Disitamab vedotin (RC48) is a novel antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) targeting HER2 that couples a humanized anti-HER2 antibody to the potent microtubule-disrupting agent monomethyl auristatin E. Methods: We compared the activity and mechanism of action of RC48 with that of trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) across HER2-positive and HER2-low cellular models, including multiple sublines resistant to current HER2-targeted agents. Results: In HER2-overexpressing breast cancer cell lines, RC48 consistently demonstrated superior antiproliferative effect with respect to T-DM1. Treatment with RC48 induced G2/M arrest and apoptotic cell death, associated with increased pHistone-H3 and cyclin B1 and downregulation of Wee1, consistent with blockade of cell cycle progression in mitosis. Although RC48 and T-DM1 internalized similarly, RC48 displayed more efficient intracellular payload release, providing a mechanistic explanation for its enhanced efficacy. Notably, RC48 retained strong activity in BT474-derived sublines resistant to T-DM1, lapatinib, or neratinib, inducing cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, and caspase activation in all resistant models. In contrast, T-DM1 exhibited only partial effects in resistant cells and was completely ineffective in a T-DM1-refractory clone. Conclusions: Together, these findings identify disitamab vedotin as a potent next-generation HER2-targeting ADC with the unique capacity to overcome acquired resistance to HER2-directed therapies. RC48 represents a promising therapeutic strategy for patients with refractory HER2-positive breast cancer and warrants further clinical investigation.

The effect of international study programmes and languages spoken on Spanish university students’ sense of Europeanness and place identity

This study explores European identity formation by examining the role of international study programmes (ISPs) and plurilingualism among Spanish undergraduate and postgraduate students. Using a custom-built survey administered to 871 respondents, the research analyzes how ISPs and students’ language profiles influence their sense of Europeanness, attachment to Europe, and perception of the European Union (EU). Findings show that students participating in or interested in ISPs have a more positive view of Europe and the EU, while non-mobile students tend to exhibit stronger local identities and view Europe more neutrally or negatively. Additionally, students with broader language repertoires are more likely to associate the EU with cultural diversity, while those primarily speaking Spanish often connect it to challenges like unemployment. Proficiency in multiple European languages emerges as a key factor in fostering a positive European orientation. This study underscores the importance of ISPs and plurilingualism in shaping European identity with valuable insights for internationalization strategies in higher education.

Determination of Quality Parameters in Mangetout (Pisum sativum L. ssp. arvense) by Using Vis/Near-Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy

Pisum sativum L. ssp. arvense, is colloquially called tirabeque or mangetout because it is eaten whole; its pods are recognized as a delicatessen in cooking due to its crunch on the palate and high sweetness. Furthermore, this legume is an important source of protein and antioxidant compounds. Quality control in this species requires the analysis of a large number of samples using costly and laborious conventional methods. For this reason, a non-chemical and rapid technique as near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) was explored to determine its physicochemical quality (color, firmness, total soluble solids, pH, total polyphenols, ascorbic acid and protein content). Pod samples from different cultivars and grown under different fertigation treatments were added to the NIRS analysis to increase spectral and chemical variability in the calibration set. Modified partial least squares regression was used for obtaining the calibration models of these parameters. The coefficients of determination in the external validation ranged from 0.50 to 0.88. The RPD (standard deviation to standard error of prediction ratio) and RER (standard deviation to range) were variable for quality parameters and showed values that were characteristic of equations suitable for quantitative prediction and screening purposes, except for the total soluble solid calibration model.
