Purpose: This study examines the impact of knowledge management on organizational performance in the hospitality industry, particularly in five-star hotels in Bali. It further investigates the mediating role of organizational innovation and the moderating effect of dynamic capability. Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative survey was conducted among 94 five-star hotels in Bali, yielding 90 valid responses from key managerial personnel. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) through SmartPLS 4. Findings: The results confirm that knowledge management positively influences both organizational innovation and performance. Dynamic capability strengthens the link between knowledge management and innovation. Additionally, organizational innovation significantly mediates the relationship between knowledge management and organizational performance. Research limitations/implications: This study focuses on five-star hotels in Bali, which may limit the generalizability of the results to other regions. Its cross-sectional design also restricts insights into the long-term dynamics of knowledge management and innovation. Future studies could explore broader geographical contexts and adopt longitudinal approaches. Theoretically, this research contributes to the Resource-Based View and Dynamic Capability Theory by showing how dynamic capability moderates the relationship between knowledge management and organizational innovation. Practically, the findings provide a framework for hospitality managers to better utilize knowledge, build dynamic capabilities, and support continuous innovation to enhance performance. Originality/value: This is the first study to investigate the moderating role of dynamic capability in the relationship between knowledge management and organizational innovation within the hospitality industry.

Magnetic skyrmions are prime candidates as information carriers for spintronic devices due to their topological nature and nanometric size. However, unavoidable inhomogeneities inherent to any material leads to pinning or repulsion of skyrmions that, in analogy to biology concepts, define the phenotype of the skyrmion-defect interaction, generating complexity in their motion and challenging their application as future bits of information. Here, we demonstrate that atom-by-atom manufacturing of multi-atomic defects, being antiferromagnetic or ferromagnetic, permits the breeding of their energy profiles, for which we build schematically a Punnet-square. As established from first-principles for skyrmions generated in PdFe bilayer on Ir(111) surface, the resulting interaction phenotype is rich. It can be opposite to the original one and eventually be of dual pinning-repulsive nature yielding energy landscapes hosting multi-domains. This is dictated by the stacking site, geometry, size and chemical nature of the adsorbed defects, which control the involved magnetic interactions. This work provides new insights towards the development of disruptive device architectures incorporating defects into their design aiming to control and guide skyrmions.

G5 and G8 are two sorghum mutant lines projected as sorghum varieties for ruminant's feed. However, most of the sorghum panicles contains phenolic compounds, especially in the form of condensed tannins. The objective of this research was to investigate the phenolic and tannin compounds from the panicles of two sorghum mutant lines. The second objective was to identify tannin content by Fourier Transform Mid-Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy in the sorghum panicles. The two mutant lines were compared with Pahat variety. This research was arranged into a randomized complete block design with two factors. The first factor was the sorghum variety/mutant lines, whereas the second factor was the generative phase of harvesting time (flowering, soft dough and hard dough). The results showed that the panicles of G5 sorghum contained the lowest total phenol compounds (P<0.01). The average mean of G5 and G8 mutant lines produced lower total tannin content (27.3 and 18.2%, respectively) than Pahat variety (P<0.01). Generally, total phenol and total tannin in all variety/mutant lines increased with the increasing maturity stage (P<0.01). All the spectra of the sorghum panicle samples in different harvesting age investigated shared certain special similarities. A band due to alkane medium (C-H) stretch was observed at 2937-2854 cm−1. At 1521-1514 and 1446-1408 cm−1, a band due to the C-C aromatic compounds was observed. Based on those findings, it can be concluded that G5 and G8 mutant lines produced less total phenol and total tannin contents than Pahat variety. Meanwhile, FTIR could be used to describe the profile of tannin compounds qualitatively.

Dengue disease has serious health and socio-economic consequences. Mapping its occurrence at a fine spatiotemporal scale is a crucial element in the preparation of an early warning system for the prevention and control of dengue and other viral diseases. This paper presents a Bayesian spatiotemporal random effects (pure) model of relative dengue disease risk estimated by integrated nested Laplace approximation. Continuous isopleth mapping based on inverse distance weighting is applied to visualize the disease’s geographical evolution. The model is applied to data for 30 districts in the city of Bandung, Indonesia, for the period January 2009 to December 2016. We compared the Poisson and the negative binomial distributions for the number of dengue cases, both combined with a model which included structured and unstructured spatial and temporal random effects and their interactions. Using several Bayesian and classical model performance criteria and stepwise backward selection, we chose the negative binomial distribution and the temporal model with spatiotemporal interaction for forecasting. The estimation results show that the relative risk decreased generally from 2014. However, it consistently increased in the north-western districts because of environmental and socio-economic conditions. We also found that every district has a different temporal pattern, indicating that district characteristics influence the temporal variation across space.

Physicochemical and antioxidant properties of Apis cerana honey from Lombok and Bali Islands

Limited honey production worldwide leads to higher market prices, thus making it prone to adulteration. Therefore, regular physicochemical analysis is imperative for ensuring authenticity and safety. This study describes the physicochemical and antioxidant properties of Apis cerana honey sourced from the islands of Lombok and Bali, showing their unique regional traits. A comparative analysis was conducted on honey samples from Lombok and Bali as well as honey variety from Malaysia. Moisture content was found slightly above 20% in raw honey samples from Lombok and Bali, adhering to the national standard (SNI 8664:2018) of not exceeding 22%. Both honey types displayed pH values within the acceptable range (3.40–6.10), ensuring favorable conditions for long-term storage. However, Lombok honey exhibited higher free acidity (78.5±2.14 meq/kg) than Bali honey (76.0±1.14 meq/kg), surpassing Codex Alimentarius recommendations (≤50 meq/kg). The ash content, reflective of inorganic mineral composition, was notably lower in Lombok (0.21±0.02 g/100) and Bali honey (0.14±0.01 g/100) compared to Tualang honey (1.3±0.02 g/100). Electric conductivity, indicative of mineral content, revealed Lombok and Bali honey with lower but comparable values than Tualang honey. Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) concentrations in Lombok (14.4±0.11 mg/kg) and Bali (17.6±0.25 mg/kg) were slightly elevated compared to Tualang honey (6.4±0.11 mg/kg), suggesting potential processing-related changes. Sugar analysis revealed Lombok honey with the highest sucrose content (2.39±0.01g/100g) and Bali honey with the highest total sugar content (75.21±0.11 g/100g). Both honeys exhibited lower glucose than fructose content, aligning with Codex Alimentarius guidelines. The phenolic content, flavonoids, and antioxidant activity were significantly higher in Lombok and Bali honey compared to Tualang honey, suggesting potential health benefits. Further analysis by LC-MS/MS-QTOF targeted analysis identified various flavonoids/flavanols and polyphenolic/phenolic acid compounds in Lombok and Bali honey. The study marks the importance of characterizing the unique composition of honey from different regions, ensuring quality and authenticity in the honey industry.

Temporal Correlation Between Urban Microclimate, Vector Mosquito Abundance, and Dengue Cases

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a major mosquito-borne viral disease. Studies have reported a strong correlation between weather, the abundance of Aedes aegypti, the vector of DHF virus, and dengue incidence. However, this conclusion has been based on the general climate pattern of wide regions. In general, however, the human population, level of infrastructure, and land-use change in rural and urban areas often produce localized climate patterns that may influence the interaction between climate, vector abundance, and dengue incidence. Thoroughly understanding this correlation will allow the development of a customized and precise local early warning system. To achieve this purpose, we conducted a cohort study, during January-December 2017, in 16 districts in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. In the selected areas, local weather stations and modified light mosquito traps were set up to obtain data regarding daily weather and the abundance of adult female Ae. aegypti. A generalized linear model was applied to analyze the effect of local weather and female adult Ae. aegypti on the number of dengue cases. The result showed a significant non-linear correlation among mosquito abundance, maximum temperature, and dengue cases. Using our model, the data showed that the addition of a single adult Ae. aegypti mosquito increased the risk of dengue infection by 1.8%, while increasing the maximum temperature by one degree decreased the risk by 17%. This finding suggests specific actionable insights needed to supplement existing mosquito eradication programs.

Organizational culture as moderator in the relationship between organizational reward on knowledge sharing and employee performance

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine whether organizational rewards are able to improve knowledge sharing and have an impact on employee performance moderated by organizational culture type in Ternate Municipal Government.
Design/methodology/approach
The design for data collection a uses survey approach, that is a form of research conducted to obtain facts about the phenomena that exist in regional government organizations to seek more factual and systematic information. The research was conducted in Ternate Municipal Government area of North Maluku Province, Indonesia. The organizations of regional apparatus are public sector agencies responsible for providing services to the public. The population in this study is echelon IIb‒IVb officials in regional apparatus organizations and certain structural officials. The units of analysis that are focused on in this research are the head of local agency, body, and office; the secretary of local agency, body and office; the head of board, the head of division, the head of the sub-board and the head of sub-division.
Findings
Organizational rewards in the form of giving economic rewards as remuneration, such as employee performance allowance, significantly affect individual attitudes in knowledge sharing. The interaction between the variable of remuneration with clan culture has a significant effect on knowledge sharing; these findings suggest that clan culture is a pure moderation variable that strengthens the relationship between remuneration and knowledge sharing. The result of this research proves that the interaction between the variable of remuneration with adhocracy culture has no significant effect on knowledge sharing. The interaction between the variable of remuneration with hierarchical culture has a significant negative effect on knowledge sharing. Market culture is not proven to moderate the relationship between remuneration and knowledge sharing. However, market culture variables directly and significantly affect knowledge sharing.
Originality/value
This research is the development of a research model conducted by Durmusoglu et al. (2014). The previous model uses organizational culture with a knowledge-sharing culture instrument, whereas this research develops organizational culture by using the type of organizational culture by Cameron and Quinn (1999), namely clan culture, adhocratic culture, hierarchical culture, and market culture. This type of organizational culture as a moderating variable can be expected to play a role in strengthening organizational rewards toward sharing knowledge and also impacting employee performance. Howell et al. (1986) revealed that organizational culture can strengthen the relationship between organizational rewards and disseminated knowledge. Hence, organizational culture moderates the relationship between organizational rewards for knowledge sharing to build upon Durmusoglu et al. (2014).

This study aims to determine the effect of emulsion coating of different fatty acids on the characteristics of Salak Bali fruit and to determine the right emulsion formulation. The experimental design used in this study was a simple randomized complete block design (CRD). The treatments were A0: Salak untreated (control). A1: Salak treated with oleic acid, A2: Salak treated with stearic acid, A3: Salak treated with palmitic acid, and A4: Salak treated with a mixture of oleic acid, stearic acid, and palmitic acid. The experiment was repeated three (3) times and observations were made every 3 days until day 15, including: weight loss, total soluble solids, pH, color and organoleptic tests. The results showed that emulsion coating with oleic acid, stearic acid and palmitic acid had a significant effect on the shelf life of Salak Bali fruit. Stearic acid emulsion (1%) is the best emulsion in fruit coating that produces the best fruit characteristics in terms of durability, color, weight loss, pH, suppressing the increase in soluble solids content and is the emulsion that gets the best choice from the calculation of the average number of panelists on organoleptic texture, color and overall acceptability of salak fruit.

Prevalence of burnout and its determinants among Indonesian nurses: a multicentre study

Frontline health workers face a significant issue concerning mental health, particularly stress and burnout. Nurses, being among them, grapple with this problem. The study aims to investigate the prevalence and determinants of burnout among nurses. A multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted across twenty two hospitals. A total of nine hundred nurses participated through convenience sampling. Burnout was measured using a single-measurement approach. Both individual and unit-related factors were examined. Over half of the nurses experienced stress, while 7.3% had symptoms of exhaustion. One in every hundred nurses faced a high likelihood of experiencing complete burnout. Job satisfaction, basic salary, motivation, age, incentives, competence, extra responsibilities, and knowledge of quality emerged as significant predictors of burnout. Addressing burnout among nurses requires hospitals to improve job satisfaction, revisit salaries, and foster supportive environments with incentives. Tailored training and ongoing support are crucial for resilience. Prioritizing these strategies is vital for nurses' well-being and sustainable healthcare delivery.
