\I've always had the abolitionist spirit in me\: Preservice Teachers of Color and Pedagogies of Abolitionist Praxis
2024
This year-long ethnographic study explores how two ELA preservice teachers of color enacted pedagogies of abolitionist praxis--centering teaching and learning to and through an abolitionist praxis of identifying and dismantling surveillance, criminalization, and punishment--via the areas of curriculum and instruction, relational work, and organizing and activism. When enacting pedagogies of abolitionist praxis, with specific attention to curriculum and instruction, three findings were identified. First, both teachers purposely and strategically designed their curriculum and instruction to explicitly teach an abolitionist praxis, yet they did so via distinct approaches. Next, the teachers rooted their curriculum and instruction in a radical Black, Indigenous, and feminist imaginary to teach about but, more importantly, teach against carceral practices, policies, and ideologies. Last, both teachers facilitated youth-led action research projects that centered present and future world-building actions. This study provides implications for the education and support of preservice teachers and for K-12 teacher practice.

Introduction. Autoimmune encephalitis is caused by antineuronal immune mechanisms. Its clinical presentation is heterogeneous and in many cases onset with psychiatric symptoms. Paraclinical criteria guide the approach; however, the challenge occurs when there are no detectable autoantibodies in serum or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Methodology. We report one case that highlights the variability of clinical manifestations, which in the absence of antibodies was treated with immunotherapy with good response. Conclusion. In places where there is no antibody measurement, or when its measurement is negative, the clinical suspicion supported by CSF studies, magnetic resonance imaging, and electroencephalographic recording, should guide us to start immunotherapeutic treatment early. The early initiation of treatment ensures the reversibility of the neurological disorder in the vast majority of patients.

This paper presents a Software Methodology-and-Process Modeling Language, also referred to as SMPML. A brief description of the vocabulary is provided, followed by a set of perspectives that are applied directly to a case study. Some of the most relevant results, obtained from an actual project, are discussed and analyzed. The modeling language presented in this document is suggested to be used as a wrap for the modeling and computational languages that are utilized within the current software industry. This language appears as a powerful alternative proposal even for parallel-process modeling such as that involving BPMN (for industrial processes) or SPEM (for software processes).

To the Editor: Catheters are frequently used as diagnostic and therapeutic devices that are frequently placed in critically ill patients. In addition, with the advantage of radiologic technology, the number of minimally invasive endovascular procedures has increased, and consequently the reports of intravascular foreign bodies (IFBs) and the numerous described IFBs retrieval technique.

2021
Industry 4.0 is the fourth industrial revolution consisting of the digitalization of processes facilitating an incremental value chain. Smart Manufacturing (SM) is one of the branches of the Industry 4.0 regarding logistics, visual inspection of pieces, optimal organization of processes, machine sensorization, real-time data adquisition and treatment and virtualization of industrial activities. Among these tecniques, Digital Twin (DT) is attracting the research interest of the scientific community in the last few years due to the cost reduction through the simulation of the dynamic behaviour of the industrial plant predicting potential problems in the SM paradigm. In this paper, we propose a new DT design concept based on external service for the transportation of the Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs) which are being recently introduced for the Material Requirement Planning satisfaction in the collaborative industrial plant. We have performed real experimentation in two different scenarios through the definition of an Industrial Ethernet platform for the real validation of the DT results obtained. Results show the correlation between the virtual and real experiments carried out in the two scenarios defined in this paper with an accuracy of 97.95% and 98.82% in the total time of the missions analysed in the DT. Therefore, these results validate the model created for the AGV navigation, thus fulfilling the objectives of this paper.
