The endgame : the inside story of the struggle for Iraq, from George W. Bush to Barack Obama
This book is a work of investigative journalism and historical recreation ranging from 2003 to 2012, giving a comprehensive, inside account of arguably the most widely reported yet least understood war in American history, from the occupation of Iraq to the withdrawal of American troops. Provides a blow-by-blow chronicle of the fighting, but also deftly pieces together the puzzle of the prosecution of American, Iraqi, and Iranian objectives, and the diplomatic intrigue and political struggle within Iraq since the American invasion.
Precursors to technology: An investigation into the kinds of exposure to technological components that children experience before entering school
This thesis describes an investigation of the home environment of preschool children (N = 16) to determine the extent to which these children have been exposed to the components of technology. In order to determine whether a child had been exposed to components of technology, the components or components of technology were determined. The current directions and trends in Ontario education are also discussed. The thesis involved the creation of a design instrument to facilitate the search for technology in the home environment. The general conclusion was that all children studied from ages two through four, regardless of gender or socio-economic group, had been exposed to a high number of components of technology, and a variety of different technology components. The study further suggested that children have a 'technology set' which is part of their learning experience, and which affected the way in which they viewed their environment. The New Georgia Encyclopedia Companion to Georgia Literature
Georgia has played a formative role in the writing of America. Few states have produced a more impressive array of literary figures, among them Conrad Aiken, Erskine Caldwell, James Dickey, Joel Chandler Harris, Carson McCullers, Flannery O'Connor, Jean Toomer, and Alice Walker. This volume contains biographical and critical discussions of Georgia writers from the nineteenth century to the present as well as other information pertinent to Georgia literature. Organized in alphabetical order by author, the entries discuss each author's life and work, contributions to Georgia history and culture, and relevance to wider currents in regional and national literature. Lists of recommended readings supplement most entries. Especially important Georgia books have their own entries: works of social significance such as Lillian Smith's Strange Fruit, international publishing sensations like Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind, and crowning artistic achievements including Jean Toomer's Cane. The literary culture of the state is also covered, with information on the Georgia Review and other journals; the Georgia Center for the Book, which promotes authors and reading; and the Townsend Prize, given in recognition of the year's best fiction. This is an essential volume for readers who want both to celebrate and learn more about Georgia's literary heritage.
Wireless network deployments
The second part addresses deployment of CDMA networks, based on IS-95 standards. Here the authors discuss issues related to optimization of overlaid dual model CDMA networks, embedding microcells to improve hot-spot capacity, and mitigation of intermodulation distortion in handsets. Part III deals with deployment of TDMA- based networks. The issues presented include developing hierarchical systems, reconfigurable transceivers, and deploying the GSM frequency hopping feature for enhancing existing traffic capacity.
