Your editorial ostracizing people who insist on boarding with oversized carry-ons is off the mark {\"Oomph, Ugh, Shove: `Oh, Sure, It Fits Overhead' \"{Viewpoints, Oct. 20}. The individuals who protested against homosexuality at Matthew Shepard's funeral service should be terribly ashamed of themselves {\"Prayers, Protests at Shepard's Funeral,\" Oct. 17}. The least they could have done was respect the parents' right to have a private, peaceful funeral to say goodbye to their son. If people do not approve of a homosexual lifestyle, that's fine, but they can at least respect a family's right to privacy in death. There are many sins in life, and I don't see the religious right protesting about most of the other sins. For example, there is a commandment: Thou shalt not kill. But, instead of protesting against the men who took an innocent life, those people chose to ruin a quiet young man's funeral and demean a private goodbye. Instead of protesting against a president who is a role model for many, they destroy a private life and moment. Will hypocrisy and hatred never end? Kathy Gribbin. Kings Park.
