Veg-DenseCap: Dense Captioning Model for Vegetable Leaf Disease Images
The plant disease recognition model based on deep learning has shown good performance potential. However, high complexity and nonlinearity lead to the low transparency and poor interpretability of such models. These limitations greatly limit the deployment and application of such models in field scenarios. To solve the above problems, we propose a dense caption generative model, Veg DenseCap. This model takes vegetable leaf images as input and uses object detection technology to locate abnormal parts of the leaf and identify the disease results. More importantly, it can describe the disease features it sees in natural language, and users can judge whether the relevant features are semantically consistent with human cognition based on these descriptions. First of all, a dataset containing Chinese feature description statements for images of 10 leaf diseases involving two vegetables (cucumber and tomato) was established. Secondly, Faster R-CNN was used as a disease detector to extract visual features of diseases, and LSTM was used as a language generator to generate description statements for disease features. Finally, the Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) and the Focal Loss function were employed to overcome the imbalance between positive and negative samples and the weak performance of Faster R-CNN in obtaining key features. According to the test results, the Intersection-over-Union (IoU) and Meteor joint evaluation index of Veg-DenseCap achieved a mean Average Precision (mAP) of 88.0% on the dense captioning dataset of vegetable leaf disease images, which is 9.1% higher than that of the classical FCLN model. The automatically generated description statements are characterized by advantages of accurate feature description, correct grammar, and high diversity.
Scheduling of Collaborative Vegetable Harvesters and Harvest-Aid Vehicles on Farms
Transporting harvested vegetables in the field or greenhouse is labor-intensive. The utilization of small harvest-aid vehicles can reduce non-productive time for farmers and improve harvest efficiency. This paper models the process of harvesting vegetables in response to non-productive waiting delays caused by the scheduling of harvest-aid vehicles. Taking into consideration harvesting speed, harvest-aid vehicle capacity, and scheduling conflicts, a harvest-aid vehicle scheduling model is constructed to minimize non-production waiting time and coordination costs. Subsequently, to meet the collaborative needs of harvesters, this paper develops a discrete multi-objective Jaya optimization algorithm (DMO-Jaya), which combines an opposition-based learning mechanism and a long-term memory library to obtain scheduling schemes suitable for agricultural environments. Experiments show that the studied model can schedule harvest-aid vehicles without conflicts. Compared to the NSGA-II algorithm and the MMOPSO, the DMO-Jaya algorithm demonstrates a better diversity of solutions, resulting in a shorter non-productive waiting time for harvesters. This research provides a reference model for improving the efficiency of vegetable harvesting and transportation.

These technologies include environmental perception, positioning and navigation, autonomous operation and path planning, agricultural machinery status monitoring and fault diagnosis, and field operation monitoring. Each of these key technologies is discussed in depth with examples and analyses. On this basis, the paper analyzes the main challenges faced by the development of autonomous operation and monitoring technologies in China’s smart agricultural machinery sector. Furthermore, it explores the future directions for the development of autonomous operation and monitoring technologies in smart agricultural machinery. This research is of great importance for promoting the transition of China’s agricultural production towards automation and intelligence, improving agricultural production efficiency, and reducing reliance on human labor.
Cow behavior recognition based on image analysis and activities
For the rapid and accurate identification of cow reproduction and healthy behavior from mass surveillance video, in this study, 400 head of young cows and lactating cows were taken as the research object and analyzed cow behavior from the dairy activity area and milk hall ramp. The method of object recognition based on image entropy was proposed, aiming at the identification of motional cow object behavior against a complex background. Calculating a minimum bounding box and contour mapping were used for the real-time capture of rutting span behavior and hoof or back characteristics. Then, by combining the continuous image characteristics and movement of cows for 7 d, the method could quickly distinguish abnormal behavior of dairy cows from healthy reproduction, improving the accuracy of the identification of characteristics of dairy cows. Cow behavior recognition based on image analysis and activities was proposed to capture abnormal behavior that has harmful effects on healthy reproduction and to improve the accuracy of cow behavior identification. The experimental results showed that, through target detection, classification and recognition, the recognition rates of hoof disease and heat in the reproduction and health of dairy cows were greater than 80%, and the false negative rates of oestrus and hoof disease were 3.28% and 5.32%, respectively. This method can enhance the real-time monitoring of cows, save time and improve the management efficiency of large-scale farming.
Efficient Health Data Transmission Method in a Wireless Body Area Network for Rural Elderly
The wireless body area network (WBAN) can monitor human physiological information for a long time and alleviate problems such as the imbalance of medical resources distribution and population aging. The complex human media may make data transmission unstable in wireless body area networks. A delay-tolerant WBAN opportunity transmission method based on human data priority was studied. In this method, the historical states between links are recorded by a sliding window. Then, the link stability is measured by a prediction function. At the same time, considering the heterogeneity of the data in the body area network, transmission priority is assigned to different health data. Combined with residual energy, link stability, and distance, the transmission cost of the candidate set is calculated, and the node with the lowest expected transmission cost is selected as the next hop to improve the reliability of data transmission. The experimental results showed that this method includes the characteristics of opportunity routing and WBAN to transmit health data with lower delay and higher efficiency than previous methods.
Unveiling the spatially confined oxidation processes in reactive electrochemical membranes
Electrocatalytic oxidation offers opportunities for sustainable environmental remediation, but it is often hampered by the slow mass transfer and short lives of electro-generated radicals. Here, we achieve a four times higher kinetic constant (18.9 min −1 ) for the oxidation of 4-chlorophenol on the reactive electrochemical membrane by reducing the pore size from 105 to 7 μm, with the predominate mechanism shifting from hydroxyl radical oxidation to direct electron transfer. More interestingly, such an enhancement effect is largely dependent on the molecular structure and its sensitivity to the direct electron transfer process. The spatial distributions of reactant and hydroxyl radicals are visualized via multiphysics simulation, revealing the compressed diffusion layer and restricted hydroxyl radical generation in the microchannels. This study demonstrates that both the reaction kinetics and the electron transfer pathway can be effectively regulated by the spatial confinement effect, which sheds light on the design of cost-effective electrochemical platforms for water purification and chemical synthesis. Understanding oxidation processes in reactive electrochemical membranes is essential for addressing environmental concerns. The authors highlight that microchannel pore size can profoundly impact not only the reaction kinetics but also the electron transfer pathways.
A Threshold-Based Max-log-MPA Low Complexity Multiuser Detection Algorithm
Sparse Code Multiple Access (SCMA) technology is a new multiple access scheme based on non-orthogonal spread spectrum technology, which was proposed by Huawei in 2014. In the algorithm application of this technology, the original Message Passing Algorithm (MPA) has slow convergence speed and high algorithm complexity. The threshold-based MPA has a high Bit Error Ratio (BER) when the threshold is low. In the Maximum logarithm Message Passing Algorithm (Max-log-MPA), the approximation method is used, which will cause some messages to be lost and the detection performance to be poor. Therefore, in order to solve the above problems, a Threshold-Based Max-log-MPA (T-Max-log-MPA) low complexity multiuser detection algorithm is proposed in this paper. The Maximum logarithm (Max-log) algorithm is combined with threshold setting, and the stability of user nodes is considered as a necessary condition for decision in the algorithm. Before message updating, the user information nodes are judged whether the necessary conditions for the stability of the user node have been met, and then the threshold is determined. Only users who meet the threshold condition and pass the necessary condition of user node stability can be decoded in advance. In the whole process, the logarithm domain MPA algorithm is used to convert an exp operation and a multiplication operation into a maximum value and addition operation. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively reduce the computational complexity while ensuring the BER, and with the increase of signal-to-noise ratio, the effect of the Computational Complexity Reduction Ratio (CCRR) is more obvious.
A Multi-Node Detection Algorithm Based on Serial and Threshold in Intelligent Sensor Networks
With the continuous progress of science and technology, intelligent wireless sensor network (IWSN) communication has become indispensable in its role in production and life because of its convenient network settings and flexible use. However, with the widespread availability of intelligent wireless sensor networks, the use of many wireless sensor nodes constitutes a multi-node wireless communication system, which turns the accuracy and low complexity of multi-node detection in sensor networks into a problem. Although the traditional algorithm has excellent performance, it cannot give consideration to both accuracy and complexity. Therefore, a maximum logarithm message passing algorithm based on serial and threshold (S-T-Max-log-MPA) for multi-mode detection in IWSN is proposed in this paper. In this algorithm, the threshold is used to determine the necessary conditions of sensor node stability first, and then the sensor node information updating is integrated into the resource node information updating, so that the system can maintain good accuracy, performance, and change the situation of poor system accuracy at low threshold. Compared with the traditional algorithm, the proposed algorithm significantly changes the algorithm complexity reduction rate of the system multi-node detection. Simulation results show that the algorithm has a good balance between accuracy and complexity reduction rate.
An Improved Wavelet Modulus Algorithm Based on Fusion of Light Intensity and Degree of Polarization
Edge detection is the basis of image analysis and image processing. The wavelet modulus maxima algorithm is a widely used edge-detection algorithm. The algorithm has the advantages of strong anti-noise ability and high precision of edge location, but it still cannot accurately obtain edge information for low-contrast images. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved wavelet mode maximum edge algorithm for the fusion of light intensity and degree of polarization. The improved wavelet mode maximum algorithm was used to extract the edges of a light intensity image and degree of polarization image, and then refine and fuse the two edges to obtain the final edge information. Simulation experiments showed that the edge image obtained by the edge-detection algorithm in this paper had a clearer outline and better connectivity.
