Green training and organizational efficiency: mediating role of green competencies
Purpose This paper aims to highlight the importance of implementing green training as a part of green management practices in organizational operations by building the arguments through the lens of Ability–Motivation–Opportunity (AMO) theory. In this regard, the mediating impact of green competencies on the association between green training and organizational efficiency is determined. Design/methodology/approach The research followed a quantitative and cross-sectional approach. The study involved ISO-14001 certified textile manufacturing organizations to better serve the research purpose. The responses were collected from 235 managerial-level employees through purposive sampling. The data analysis was performed by using structural equation modelling to examine the interrelated dependence of the variables. Findings The findings of the study reveal that green training is essential for environmentally responsible organizations to attain their goals of efficient resource consumption in addition to serving the greater cause of environmental protection. There is a dire need to impart environmental-friendly competencies to the employees who resultantly become able to adopt eco-efficient ways of doing business. Research limitations/implications This study also has limitations regarding the generalizability of its results. It is primarily because of the limited sample size and restricted geographical domain. Additionally, AMO theory has not been empirically tested in this study. Practical implications Progressive textile manufacturers need to incorporate a consistent policy for green management practices to meet the expectation of their international clients and to remain competitive in international markets. It is equally important for the governmental authorities to design such environmental policies which necessitate the need of incorporating pro-environment business practices and measuring their outcomes. Originality/value This study will contribute to enrich the literature by offering an empirical analysis of green training for achieving the organizational efficiency in textile manufacturing sector. It will be a novel context to contribute to the literature of green management practices and its related fields. Moreover, the study is one of its kind that uses the AMO theory to identify the mediating role of green competencies for understanding the association between green training and organizational efficiency.
Impact of Emotional Labor on Employee Wellbeing in the Presence of Psychological Capital
This study examined the impact of emotional labor on employee wellbeing in the presence of psychological capital as a moderating variable. The concept of emotional labor was measured through its components of surface-level acting and deep-level acting. A survey questionnaire was used to collect the data from managerial-level employees working in the service sector of Lahore, Pakistan. The sample size was 395 gathered through convenience sampling; a non-probability sampling technique. Further, the data was analyzed by using AMOS. The confirmatory factor analysis and the regression analysis were applied to test the hypotheses of the study. The findings of the study revealed that emotional labor has an inverse relationship with employee wellbeing. Similarly, surface-level acting and deep-level acting deteriorate the employee wellbeing in an organizational setting. The moderation analysis of psychological capital discovered that emotional labor reduces and employee wellbeing enhances in the presence of this moderator. This study provides useful insights to understand the impact of emotional labor especially for the employees working in labor-intensive education and health sectors.
AN APPRAISAL OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS OF METRO BRT ON SURROUNDING COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES IN LAHORE, PAKISTAN
The present paper aims to assess the positive and negative socio-economic and environmental impacts imposed by the development of Metro BRT Lahore on its surrounding commercial activities. The study area comprised of eight stations located on the BRT route, starting from MAO College station to Kalma Chowk station. The primary data was collected through structured questionnaire from the shopkeepers of shops situated along the route and was tabulated through Microsoft Excel 365, The locations of surveyed shops were marked through GPS and Google Earth Pro 7 and Arc GIS 10.0 were used to prepare the distributional and thematic maps for the study. It was concluded that the Metro project has contributed to improve the overall market outlook by adding greenery, public lights, and safe road crossings, controlling pollution, garbage, improving the drainage and sewerage conditions. However, at few other points it has triggered few problems, such as traffic congestion, drainage, sewage, and parking. The study suggests the development of new BRT projects in other cities of the country for an efficient travel system.

A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect the responses from 200 managerial-level employees of ISO-14001 certified textile organizations in Lahore, Pakistan. Furthermore, the study hypotheses were tested by applying linear regression and Hayes’ Process in SPSS to determine the interconnected dependence of the study variables. The findings of the study demonstrate that transformational leadership plays an instrumental role in the implementation of environmental sustainability strategy. The results also reveal that green human resource management significantly mediates the relationship between transformational leadership and environmental sustainability. The research outcomes portray a stringent need to apply the transforming abilities of the organizational leaders for fostering environmental initiatives; a contribution to a broader cause of global environmental sustainability

EXAMINING THE ANTECEDENTS AND CONSEQUENCE OF SMARTPHONE LOAFING AT WORKPLACE: TESTING A MODERATED SEQUENTIAL MEDIATION MODEL
The growing use of smartphones at workplaces necessitates investigating its reasons and consequent effects on employees’ task performance. Moreover, this paper proposes three hypotheses to test a sequential model that elucidates both the antecedents and consequences of cyberloafing activities through smartphones. Multiple sampling designs are used to collect the data through a questionnaire. The sample size is 750 with a response rate of 92%. A structured questionnaire is used by adapting items for each construct from different established instruments available in the literature. The findings reveal that job stress creates cynicism among the employees that induces them to indulge in smartphone loafing that proves to be detrimental to their task performance. However, if employees self-regulate their counterproductive behavior, it tends to mitigate the negative impact on their task performance. This paper provides substantial theoretical and practical implications for HR managers to devise policies to reduce smartphone loafing activities.
An Analytical Study on Brand Engagement in Self-Concept: A Perspective of Pakistan's Consumer Market
This paper contributes to a new construct Brand Engagement in Self-Concept (BESC) in Pakistani consumer market. The purpose of the study was to analyze if Self Brand Connection (SBC) and BESC coexist. The study also determines the relationship of BESC with some aspects of consumer behavior, specifically with behavioral intentions. Findings show that BESC relates to the brand loyalty, satisfaction, likelihood of repurchase and switching costs; but it has no relation with price sensitivity and time sensitivity. The study reveals that the demographical factors of age and gender have no significant impact on BESC, while marital status and household income have a significant effect on BESC.
