MEMS stochastic model order reduction method based on polynomial chaos expansion
Modeling and simulation of MEMS devices is a very complex task which involve the electrical, mechanical, fluidic and thermal domains, and there are still some uncertainties need to be accounted because of uncertain material and/or geometric parameters factors. According to these problems, we put forward to stochastic model order reduction method under random input conditions to facilitate fast time and frequency domain analyses, the method firstly process model order reduction by Structure Preserving Reduced-order Interconnect Macro Modeling method, then makes use of polynomial chaos expansions in terms of the random input and output variables for the matrices of a finite element model of the system; at last we give the expected values and standard deviations computing method to MEMS stochastic model. The simulation results verify the method is effective in large scale MEMS design process.
Modular Model Library for Energy System in Lunar Vehicle
For modeling and simulation of energy system in lunar vehicle, there are many special purpose tools along with their models, such as PSIM, EMTP/ATP, could be used. But the models in these tools lack of flexibility and are not open to the end-user. Models developed in one tool can’t be conveniently used in others because of the barriers among these simulators. Usually these models are expressed in an explicit state-space form and their topology gets lost and future extension and reuse of the model is almost impossible. In order to solve those problems, a flexible and extensible energy system model library for lunar vehicle is constructed in this study, based on the Modelica, by the level progressive modeling strategy. Each model in this library is expressed in equation form. It supports reuse of knowledge on different granularities: physical phenomenon, unit model and system model. It is an interface-friendly, accurate, fast PC-based and easily reusable simulating tool which enables end-user to customize and extend the framework to add new functionality or adapt the simulation behavior as required. It also allows new models to be composed programmatically or graphically to form more complex models by invoking the existing components. A solar battery and storage battery model is simulated and the results agree well with the experimental data. At last, a simple energy system model for lunar vehicle is built and calculated using the library and it shows that the level progressive modeling strategy is effective, the framework of the library is reasonable.
A Smart Grid Overvoltage Identification System Associated with Partial Discharge Signal and Dielectric Loss Detection
Capacitive equipment refers to its insulation design using the principle of capacitance of electrical equipment, mainly by a variety of different capacitive components in series. Most of the equipment in the substation is capacitive equipment. Once an insulation failure occurs, it will lead to extremely serious consequences. Monitoring grid overvoltage and insulation degradation of capacitive equipment is an effective means to ensure the stable operation of the power system. Therefore, in order to enhance the health management of capacitive equipment, including transformers, bushings, and current transformers, and to mitigate the risk of severe failures, it is imperative to conduct broad-spectrum frequency-domain online monitoring of overvoltages, dielectric losses, and partial discharge. However, the current monitoring work requires the utilization of multiple detection apparatuses. Aiming at the disadvantage that the existing inspection is not well integrated and requires a combination of multiple devices. This paper proposes a smart grid overvoltage identification system that utilizes partial discharge (PD) signals in correlation with dielectric loss detection. The system achieves synchronous detection of dielectric loss and high-frequency partial discharge by synchronously and in real-time acquiring four current signals from the power grid, enhancing the integration level of the hardware system.
A PRPD-Based UHF Filtering and Noise Reduction Algorithm for GIS Partial Discharge
The online detection of partial discharge (PD) in gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) is a crucial and powerful tool for maintaining their reliability. However, extracting weak discharge signals from strong disturbances is a significant challenge. The presence of noise can hamper the identification and localization of PD types, making the extraction of pure PD signals the focus of current research. This paper proposes a PRPD-based PD filtering algorithm that analyzes interference using the output information from PRPD and sets threshold parameters for noise reduction processing. This method is mainly used for secondary noise reduction at a later stage, without analyzing the noise source, to achieve effective signal acquisition while retaining the characteristics of the PD signals, thereby improving the system’s sensitivity and the signal’s purity.
Critical Temperature and Frequency Characteristics of GPLs-Reinforced Composite Doubly Curved Panel
In this study, critical temperature and frequency characteristics of a doubly curved panel are reinforced by graphene nanoplatelets (GPLs) with the aid of a two-dimensional generalized differential quadrature method (2D-GDQM) are investigated. The size effects are included using nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT) that has two length scale parameters, and the panel is modeled as a panel using high order shear deformation theory (HSDT). The mechanical properties of GPLs are calculated based on the rule of mixtures and the modified Halpin–Tsai model. The novelty of the current study is in considering the effects of the thermal environment, various boundary conditions, and size effects on the frequency and critical temperature of the GPLRC panel. The validation is performed through the comparison of the numerical results for the frequency of the GPLRC panel and the literature. For more verification, a finite element model is presented using the finite element package to simulate the response of the current structure. The results created from a finite element simulation illustrate a close agreement with the numerical method results. The results demonstrate that GPLs’ weight function, the ratio of panel curvature (R1/R2), GPLs’ pattern, and size-dependent parameters have noticeable effects on the frequency and critical temperature characteristics of the GPLs-reinforced composite (GPLRC) curved panel. The favorable suggestion of this survey is that when designing the GPLRC structure, special attention should be paid to size-dependent parameters because the nonlocal and length scale parameters have an essential role in the static and dynamic behaviors of the GPLRC panel.
Hysteresis Characteristics and MPI Compensation of Two-Dimensional Piezoelectric Positioning Stage
Piezoelectric positioning stage is the core component of precision positioning system and advanced instrument. Its hysteresis characteristics, especially rate-dependent characteristics, are the main factors affecting the positioning or control accuracy. The multi-slope Prandtl–Ishlinskii (MPI) based hysteresis modeling and compensation experiments of two-dimensional piezoelectric positioning stage are discussed. The impact of the driving voltage amplitude and frequency on the hysteresis characteristics of uniaxial piezoelectric actuator in the piezoelectric positioning stage are studied, especially the influence of variable-frequency voltages on the output displacement of a piezoelectric actuator. The MPI compensation control of two-dimensional piezoelectric positioning stage is carried out, and the fitting coefficient R2 is proposed to evaluate the hysteresis compensation accuracy of MPI model. Under the full range driving voltage of 20~120 V, the fitting coefficient reaches more than 99.6%. The experiments of feedforward compensation and feedback compensation are implemented. Having applied the composite triangular-wave signal, the average absolute displacement error of the piezoelectric actuator is 0.1192 μm, as well as the mean square error 0.2949 μm. It demonstrates that the MPI model is effective against hysteresis for two-dimensional piezoelectric positioning stage.
Investigation of Weld Formation, Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Small Core Diameter Single Mode Fiber Laser Welding of Medium Thick 6061 Aluminum Alloy
In this study, a small core diameter single mode fiber laser was applied to weld an 8 mm thick plate of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy. The microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of the laser welded aluminum alloy specimens were investigated in detail. The results indicated that fully penetrated welded specimens, free of welding defects like porosity, melt sagging, and hot cracking could be achieved by optimizing the processing parameters through response surface methodology. The upper part of the fusion zone consisted mainly of fine equiaxed dendrites, with secondary dendrite arm spacing (SDAS) of approximately 3–5 μm. While the lower region of the fusion zone exhibited pronounced microstructural coarsening, made up mostly of coarse columnar grains, along with some localized equiaxed grains, and an SDAS ranging from 8 to 12 μm. Both the fusion zone and heat affected zone (HAZ) were characterized by a “softened” hardness profile. The fusion zone featured a narrow region with the lowest microhardness across the welded joint with the microhardness value reducing to ~72% of the base metal (BM). Meanwhile, the microhardness of the HAZ was ~87.4% of the BM. The ultimate tensile strength of laser welded specimens was ~243.6 MPa, amounting to approximately 78.3% of the base metal. This study provides a fresh approach for welding medium-thick aluminum alloy plate using a high-quality laser beam, even at the kilowatt level with a fiber laser, and it shows a strong promise for applications in light-alloy manufacturing sectors such as automotive, rail transportation, aerospace, and beyond.
A New MEMS Stochastic Model Order Reduction Method: Research and Application
Modeling and simulation of MEMS devices is a very complex tasks which involve the electrical, mechanical, fluidic, and thermal domains, and there are still some uncertainties that need to be accounted for during the robust design of MEMS actuators caused by uncertain material and/or geometric parameters. According to these problems, we put forward stochastic model order reduction method under random input conditions to facilitate fast time and frequency domain analyses; the method makes use of polynomial chaos expansions in terms of the random input variables for the matrices of a finite element model of the system and then uses its transformation matrix to reduce the model; the method is independent of the MOR algorithm, so it is seamlessly compatible with MOR method used in popular finite element solvers. The simulation results verify the method is effective in large scale MEMS design process.
Design and Study of Composite Film Preparation Platform
This study aims to develop equipment for the preparation of composite films and successfully implement a film thickness prediction function. During the research process, we segmented the mechanical structure of the composite thin film preparation equipment into distinct modules, completed the structural design of the core module, and validated the stability of the process chamber, as well as the reasonableness of the strength and stiffness through simulation. Additionally, we devised a regression model for predicting the film thickness of composite films. The input features for the model included the sputtering air pressure, sputtering current, and sputtering time for magnetron sputtering process samples, as well as the evaporation volume and evaporation current for vacuum evaporation process samples. Simultaneously, the output features were the film thickness for both process samples. Subsequently, we established the designed composite film preparation equipment and conducted experimental verification. During the experiments, we successfully prepared Cr-Al composite films and utilized AFM for surface morphology analysis. The results confirmed the excellent performance of the Cr-Al composite films produced by the equipment, demonstrating the reliability of the equipment.
Wave Mode Control of Cantilever Slab Structure of T-Beam Bridge with Large Aspect Ratio
The cantilever plate structure in a T-beam bridge with a large aspect ratio will cause vibration under the influence of environmental disturbance and self-stress, resulting in fatigue damage of the plate structure. Wave control based on elastic wave theory is an effective method to suppress the vibration of the cantilever plate structure in a beam bridge. Based on the classical thin plate theory and the wave control method, the active vibration control of the T-shaped cantilever plate with a large aspect ratio in the beam bridge is studied in this paper. The wave mode control strategy of structural vibration is analyzed and studied, the controller is designed, the vibration mode function of the cantilever plate is established, and the control force/sensor feedback wave control is implemented for the structure. The dynamic response of the cantilever plate before and after applying wave control force is analyzed through numerical examples. The results show that the response of the structure is intense before control, but after wave control, the structure increases damping, absorbs the energy carried by the elastic wave in the structure, weakens the sharp response, and changes the natural frequency of the structure to a certain extent.
