يتناول الكتاب زواج المتعة، وقد عمدت المؤلفة الباحثة إلى دراسته ودراسة ميدانية حيث يمارس في إيران المعاصرة. ودأبت على استخراج وجهات نظر بعض الإيرانيين رجالا ونساء، ممن ارتبطت حياتهم بحياة الآخرين من خلال عقد مؤقت. إلى جانب ذلك فقد تحدثت المؤلفة عن عدة مواضيع: القانون والعادات والدين والأخلاق وعقود الزواج، العامة منها والخاصة، والشهوة الجنسية (الإيروتيكية)، والرغبة، وقد أفردت فصلا خاصا بالفقه الشيعي، وعمليات استكشاف للمنطق والافتراضات الكامنة خلف نظرته إلى النساء والرجال والزواج والحياة الجنسية.
