Objectives. We examined associations between neighborhood demographic characteristics and the availability of commercial physical activity–related outlets by zip code across the United States. Methods. Multivariate analyses were conducted to assess the availability of 4 types of outlets: (1) physical fitness facilities, (2) membership sports and recreation clubs, (3) dance facilities, and (4) public golf courses. Commercial outlet data were linked by zip code to US Census Bureau population and socioeconomic data. Results. Results showed that commercial physical activity–related facilities were less likely to be present in lower-income neighborhoods and in neighborhoods with higher proportions of African American residents, residents with His-panic ethnicity, and residents of other racial minority backgrounds. In addition, these neighborhoods had fewer such facilities available. Conclusions. Lack of availability of facilities that enable and promote physical activity may, in part, underpin the lower levels of activity observed among populations of low socioeconomic status and minority backgrounds.

2017
The construct of love is under investigation in this empirical qualitative case study. Love is a powerful force and thus can change landscapes. The landscapes under investigation in the study are in the domain of leadership. This is a study of a case exemplar, who demonstrates the practice and presence of love in lived experience. In this case study, love is presented from multiple perspectives so as to direct contemporary leaders to the consideration of a love-centered approach to leadership. The literature has revealed that leadership theory and praxis can be positively impacted by a strong love-empowered leadership approach. The empirical research in the study presents findings that are noteworthy in the modern application of contemporary leadership theory, as well as inspire paradigm shifts in how leadership in viewed from a leadership and organizational effectiveness perspective. Although there have been studies recently that have emphasized the need for love in leadership, not as much study has focused on how love is operationalized, how love can be the motivating factor behind a leader’s reason to lead, how love positively influences members of an organization, and the beneficial organizational consequences of a love-centered approach to leadership. Therefore, this study explored these elements further and presents finding that can contribute to an operational definition of love in leadership based on the sacred text of 1 Corinthians 13. A greater understanding of love as a viable construct in leadership was investigated through the presence and practice of love expressed in lived experience. This study sought to extend the scholarship and empirical research on the construct of love in organizational leadership.

Helping Children to Cope with Change, Stress and Anxiety
This book is full of creative ideas for use with children who have difficulty in coping with change, stress and normal levels of anxiety. Supported by a comprehensive but accessible theory section, the practical exercises are a simple and fun way of helping children to learn healthy stress management strategies.
Deborah Plummer offers over 100 activities and games specifically aimed at helping children to build emotional resilience. With a mixture of short, snappy activities and longer guided visualizations, these exercises are suitable for use with individuals or groups, and many are appropriate for use with children with complex needs or speech and language difficulties.
This unique photocopiable activity book will be an invaluable resource for parents, carers, teachers, therapists and anyone looking for creative, enjoyable ways of helping children to cope with change, stress and anxiety. It is primarily designed for use with individuals and groups of children aged 7-11, but the ideas can easily be adapted for both older and younger children and children with learning difficulties.
GnRH analogues in primary care
2007
Tumour flare occurs in 5-40% of men after the first administration of GnRH analogue. It is triggered by an increase in circulating testosterone and is the body's natural response to the injection. The flare may cause urinary obstruction and bone pain before the prostate cancer may shrink.

Towards innovation: The development of a person-centred model of care for older people in acute care
2007
That the population is ageing poses many challenges for health care planners. Some argue that these challenges, exacerbated by limited funding, maintaining increased community expectations and the need for quality health care outcomes, may be overcome by exploring alternate models of care. These ideas have led health planners to reconceptualise contemporary philosophies of care with the current emphasis on multidisciplinary teams and a person-centred approach to care.
This paper presents a model for the care of older people in the acute care setting. The concepts for the development of the model were derived from the international literature. In the model the care of older people is underpinned by a philosophy of person-centredness. The complex nature of care is represented along with those factors that enable a person-centred approach to be taken. The functions of the model in practice are highlighted and discussion of how it is being implemented within the acute care sector outlined.

Regional Economic Diversification and Efficiency: Baumol’s Likely Lower Confidence Limit Measure of Risk
1999
In this paper we argue that the appropriate concept of regional economic efficiency is Baumol’s lower confidence limit criteria. This implies a substantially reduced subset of the usual Markowitz efficient frontier. We examine this proposition in the context of a tractable equilibrium model with a data set for the province of Saskatchewan. We conclude that the Baumol efficiency criteria suggest maintaining substantial levels of activity in the high-risk, but higher-return, resource sectors of the economy. The results suggest that the cost of stability could be high, in terms of per capita income, if this economy were to diversify too far from its resource-based comparative advantage.

2017
Objectives
Health-related disparities are a significant public health concern. In conjunction with a university concert series, healthcare professionals and students provided education, clinical services, and preventive care using an interdisciplinary approach to a primarily African American cohort. The objective was to assess cardiovascular risk factors and readiness to change health-related behaviors.
Methods
Six outreach events were conducted over 3 years by an interdisciplinary team including pharmacy, medicine, nursing, nutrition, occupational therapy, public health, optometry, and health information technology. Clinical services, such as health screenings for glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol, and body fat along with counseling on the results and smoking cessation behavioral counseling, were provided. Education initiatives addressed bone health, heart disease, HIV risk, nutrition, and access to physician care. Preventative care included vaccinations and eye exams.
Results
There were 285 participants that were predominantly African American (95.8 %), female (71.5 %), and age within 55–64 years (45.1 %). Hypertension (50.8 %) and obesity (65.1 %) were the most common cardiovascular risk factors. Of those advised to make health behavior changes, 76.4 % reported they planned to make changes within 1 month.
Conclusion
These interdisciplinary outreach events provided health information and access to care in a novel setting and led to a high rate of planned health behavior changes.
