SO LONG TO A BOY AND HIS TIGER
Last weekend, like on so many other Sunday mornings, I sipped my coffee and searched the comics for my favorite strip, \"Calvin and Hobbes.\" It was one of those multipaneled, plot-building, I-told-you-so encounters pitting the diminutive Calvin against Hobbes, his fuzzy companion and cohort, only to find that the culprit was not Hobbes at all, but Susie! It made me smile. How could anyone dislike a comic strip character enough to refer to Calvin as a \"psycho brat?\" Such crankiness only reinforced my belief that \"Calvin and Hobbes\" was read by virtually everyone, even those who found him annoying.
