Healthcare service quality and patient satisfaction: a conceptual framework
Purpose The current study aims at developing a conceptual framework containing original dimensions of SERVQUAL and adding two modified dimensions: patient safety and medical professionalism in healthcare service quality (HSQ) model.Design/methodology/approach An extensive review of HSQ literature pertaining to its dimensions and models with respect to content analysis and bibliometric studies of service quality in healthcare and SERVQUAL in healthcare were performed on 47 relevant studies, 4,689 and 529 documents after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria. Google Scholar and Scopus were the primary sources to find the relevant documents.Findings The content analysis was conducted to group HSQ dimensions into seven themes. Co-occurrence analysis of author keywords was performed in VOSviewer to find the links between service quality, SERVQUAL and proposed dimensions. Organization and analysis of different HSQ models and dimensions emerged from the literature result in a comprehensive conceptual framework comprising modified dimensions of healthcare service quality – medical professionalism and patient safety.Originality/value SERVQUAL is a widely accepted, tested and validated model in perceiving HSQ from the lenses of patients. But it does not cover the complex nature of healthcare service, thus requiring modification and the addition of new contextual dimensions. Therefore, a comprehensive conceptual framework is developed to validate and test quantitatively.
Applicability of healthcare service quality models and dimensions: future research directions
PurposeThe purpose of this study is to explore the literature of healthcare service quality for identifying and analyzing the healthcare service quality models and dimensions and to present future research insights pertaining to the applications of these models and dimensions.Design/methodology/approachA literature review of healthcare service quality has been performed on 59 relevant studies after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria. Google Scholar and Scopus are the primary sources to find the relevant documents. Search was limited to keywords of “service quality,” “healthcare,” “models” and “dimensions.”FindingsThe results revealed that different models and dimensions have been evolved and developed after SERVQUAL in healthcare service quality literature. There is still a need to develop new models, add new contextual dimensions and items in existing models on different aspects of healthcare services. There is also a need to incorporate the perspective of service providers as respondents. Moreover, healthcare service quality models can be devolved or narrowed down at department and individual levels.Originality/valueThis study presents valuable research insights for the researchers and practitioners in ways that healthcare service quality models and dimensions can be developed, modified and tested further in different research contexts and settings. Besides, the literature on healthcare services can be enhanced and enriched.
Can Religious Tourism Sustain the Economy of Resident
Purpose: This study aims to determine the extent of religious tourism supporting the economy of the residents who live as small businesses in Sheikh Quro.   Theoretical framework: The study focuses on exploring economic lives during and after COVID-19. This study provides information on the Pandemic impact on the residents and economic activities.   Method/design/approach: This study applied a qualitative exploratory research design. In-depth interviews via purposive sampling were conducted with 12 residents as small business owners to uplift their real-life struggles during different times.   Results and conclusion: The total lockdown of business and closing of borders has significantly impacted the economy and sustainability of small business owners; most of them are without any options or opportunities for alternative income generation. The opening of the border in 2020 enables them to breathe as their businesses slowly recover and income improves, and in 2022 becomes better. The relevance of cultural heritage tourism, the essential factor is the value of tourism excellence that has been established for the surrounding environment, especially residents, which contributes significantly to increasing people's income.   Research implications: The prolonged outbreak (COVID-19) has disrupted economic sectors in the world, including tourism which contributes to the population's economy. There need to be follow-up improvements carried out by the tourism manager in dealing with all situations so that they still have long-term benefits, especially Sheikh Quro.   Originality/value: The value of this research is the originality of the research conducted at different times and originating from Sheikh Quro as religious tourism in Karawang Regency which has never been done before.
Design and Developments of Thermal Control System of Electrosurgical Unit via Sensor Based on Thermometric Techniques
Electrosurgery has been regarding as one of the top forms of surgical interventions. This technology allows surgical procedures to be performed with high accuracy using high-frequency energy waves in order to cut organic tissue. Although there are a lot of benefits to this form of surgery, there are also dangers that originate due to the thermal nature of the procedure. Some of these issues relate to the thermal damge that can be caused by the ESU. Thus, in order to address this issue, this research proposes to use thermal sensors that can sense and read temperature fluctuations, and then by manipulating the ESG, to control the thermal output and ultimately prevent any thermal adamage to the tissue. An experiment is performed using chicken as the main tissue and experimenting with and without the controller. The results of the experiment indicated success, and that the proposed thermal control system can regulate the power and the temperature with the use of the thermal monitoring systems it has in place. The damage observed on the tissue has been observed to be little to none.
