How University students in Bangladesh engage with ChatGPT: A qualitative study
2025
This study examined university students’ perceptions and practices of using ChatGPT through a qualitative approach, employing semi-structured, in-depth interviews with 20 Khulna University students. Using thematic analysis, the research identified key themes, including both academic and non-academic motivations, with applications ranging from assignments and research to entertainment. Despite limitations such as false references and predetermined feedback, students found ChatGPT efficient and useful both inside and outside the classroom. However, concerns about academic integrity arose, as some students devised creative ways to bypass existing plagiarism detection systems. Ethical considerations emerged regarding responsible AI use, underscoring the need for clear guidelines and training to ensure proper referencing and the development of critical thinking skills. Future research should focus on continuous evaluation and the implementation of support services to encourage the responsible integration of ChatGPT in university settings.

NeuroNet19: an explainable deep neural network model for the classification of brain tumors using magnetic resonance imaging data
2024
Brain tumors (BTs) are one of the deadliest diseases that can significantly shorten a person’s life. In recent years, deep learning has become increasingly popular for detecting and classifying BTs. In this paper, we propose a deep neural network architecture called NeuroNet19. It utilizes VGG19 as its backbone and incorporates a novel module named the Inverted Pyramid Pooling Module (iPPM). The iPPM captures multi-scale feature maps, ensuring the extraction of both local and global image contexts. This enhances the feature maps produced by the backbone, regardless of the spatial positioning or size of the tumors. To ensure the model’s transparency and accountability, we employ Explainable AI. Specifically, we use Local Interpretable Model-Agnostic Explanations (LIME), which highlights the features or areas focused on while predicting individual images. NeuroNet19 is trained on four classes of BTs: glioma, meningioma, no tumor, and pituitary tumors. It is tested on a public dataset containing 7023 images. Our research demonstrates that NeuroNet19 achieves the highest accuracy at 99.3%, with precision, recall, and F1 scores at 99.2% and a Cohen Kappa coefficient (CKC) of 99%.

Dengue, the mosquito borne disease has become a growing public health threat in Bangladesh due to its gradual increasing morbidity and mortality since 2000. In 2019, the country witnessed the worst ever dengue outbreak. The present study was conducted to characterize the socio-economic factors and knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) status towards dengue among the people of Bangladesh. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 1,010 randomly selected respondents from nine different administrative regions of Bangladesh between July and November 2019. Although majority (93.8%) of the respondents had heard about dengue, however, they had still misconceptions about Aedes breeding habitat. Around half of the study population (45.7%) had mistaken belief that Aedes can breed in dirty water and 43.1% knew that Aedes mosquito usually bites around sunrise and sunset. Fever indication was found in 36.6% of people which is the most common symptom of dengue. Among the socio-demographic variables, the level of education of the respondents was identified as an independent predictor for both knowledge (p<0.05) and awareness (p<0.05) of dengue. The preventive practice level was moderately less than the knowledge level though there was a significant association (p<0.05) existed between knowledge and preventive practices. Our study noted that TV/Radio is an effective predominant source of information about dengue fever. As dengue is emerging in Bangladesh, there is an urgent need to increase health promotion activities through campaigns for eliminating the misconception and considerable knowledge gaps about dengue.

is observed via interaction with PTGC. A significant variation in electronic energy gap and conductivity results from gas adsorption which can provide efficient electrical responses via gas adsorption. The blue/red shift in the optical response proved to be a way of detecting the types of adsorbed gases. The adsorption of O

is endothermic and non-spontaneous. The negative change in entropy verifies the thermodynamic stability of all the complexes. QTAIM analysis reveals strong covalent or partial covalent interactions between absorbent and adsorbate. The significant variation in electrical and optical response with optimal adsorbent-gas interaction strength makes both TGC and PTGC promising candidates for O

In this study we examined the associations of physical education class participation with physical activity among adolescents. We analysed the Global School-based Student Health Survey data from 65 countries (N = 206,417; 11–17 years; 49% girls) collected between 2007 and 2016. We defined sufficient physical activity as achieving physical activities ≥ 60 min/day, and grouped physical education classes as ‘0 day/week’, ‘1–2 days/week’, and ‘ ≥ 3 days/week’ participation. We used multivariable logistic regression to obtain country-level estimates, and meta-analysis to obtain pooled estimates. Compared to those who did not take any physical education classes, those who took classes ≥ 3 days/week had double the odds of being sufficiently active (OR 2.05, 95% CI 1.84–2.28) with no apparent gender/age group differences. The association estimates decreased with higher levels of country’s income with OR 2.37 (1.51–3.73) for low-income and OR 1.85 (1.52–2.37) for high-income countries. Adolescents who participated in physical education classes 1–2 days/week had 26% higher odds of being sufficiently active with relatively higher odds for boys (30%) than girls (15%). Attending physical education classes was positively associated with physical activity among adolescents regardless of sex or age group. Quality physical education should be encouraged to promote physical activity of children and adolescents.

Canagliflozin attenuates isoprenaline-induced cardiac oxidative stress by stimulating multiple antioxidant and anti-inflammatory signaling pathways
2020
The antidiabetic drug canagliflozin is reported to possess several cardioprotective effects. However, no studies have investigated protective effects of canagliflozin in isoprenaline (ISO)-induced cardiac oxidative damage—a model mimicking sympathetic nervous system (SNS) overstimulation-evoked cardiac injuries in humans. Therefore, we investigated protective effects of canagliflozin in ISO-induced cardiac oxidative stress, and their underlying molecular mechanisms in Long-Evans rat heart and in HL-1 cardiomyocyte cell line. Our data showed that ISO administration inflicts pro-oxidative changes in heart by stimulating production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS). In contrast, canagliflozin treatment in ISO rats not only preserves endogenous antioxidants but also reduces cardiac oxidative stress markers, fibrosis and apoptosis. Our Western blotting and messenger RNA expression data demonstrated that canagliflozin augments antioxidant and anti-inflammatory signaling involving AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), Akt, endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1). In addition, canagliflozin treatment attenuates pro-oxidative, pro-inflammatory and pro-apoptotic signaling mediated by inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β), NADPH oxidase isoform 4 (Nox4), caspase-3 and Bax. Consistently, canagliflozin treatment improves heart function marker in ISO-treated rats. In summary, we demonstrated that canagliflozin produces cardioprotective actions by promoting multiple antioxidant and anti-inflammatory signaling.

Blood pressure
2023
High blood pressure is a major risk factor for premature death. Leisure-time physical activities have been recommended to control hypertension. Studies examining how leisure-time physical activity affects blood pressure have found mixed results. We aimed to conduct a systematic review examining the effect of leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) on lowering blood pressure among adults living with hypertension. We searched studies in Embase, Medline/PubMed, Web of Science, Physical Education Index, Scopus and CENTRAL (the Cochrane Library). The primary outcome variables were systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP). This systematic review is registered on PROSPERO (CRD42021260751). We included 17 studies out of 12,046 screened articles in this review. Moderate-intensity LTPA (all types) reduced SBP compared to the non-intervention control group (MD −5.35 mm Hg, 95% CI −8.06 to −2.65, nine trials, n = 531, low certainty of the evidence). Mean DBP was reduced by −4.76 mm Hg (95% CI −8.35 to −1.17, nine trials, n = 531, low certainty of the evidence) in all types of LTPA (moderate intensity) group compared to the non-intervention control group. Leisure-time walking reduced mean SBP by −8.36 mmHg, 95% CI −13.39 to −3.32, three trials, n = 128, low certainty of the evidence). Walking during leisure time reduced −5.03 mmHg mean DBP, 95% CI −8.23 to −1.84, three trials, n = 128, low certainty of the evidence). Performing physical activity during free time probably reduces SBP and DBP (low certainty of the evidence) among adults with hypertension.

Optical and rogue type soliton solutions of the (2+1) dimensional nonlinear Heisenberg ferromagnetic spin chains equation
2023
In this study, the uses of unified method for finding solutions of a nonlinear Schrödinger equation that describes the nonlinear spin dynamics of (2+1) dimensional Heisenberg ferromagnetic spin chains equation. We successfully construct solutions to these equations. For each of the derived solutions, we provide the parametric requirements for the existence of a valid soliton. In order to visualize some of the discovered solutions, we plot the 2D and 3D graphics. The results of this investigation, which have been presented, might be useful in elucidating the model's physical significance. These are a highly useful tool for studying how electrical solitons, which travel as voltage waves in nonlinear dispersive media, spread out, as well as for doing various physical calculations. The study’s findings, which have been disclosed, might be useful in illuminating the models under consideration's physical significance and electrical field.

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of a nonlinear telecommunications model, exploring bifurcation, stability, and wave solutions using Hamiltonian and Jacobian techniques. The investigation begins with a thorough examination of bifurcation behavior, identifying critical points and their stability characteristics, leading to the discovery of diverse bifurcation scenarios. The stability of critical points is further assessed through graphical and numerical methods, highlighting the sensitivity to parameter variations. The study delves into the derivation of both numerical and analytical wave solutions, aligning them with energy orbits depicted in phase portraits, revealing a spectrum of wave behaviors. Additionally, the analysis extends to traveling wave solutions, providing insights into wave propagation dynamics. Notably, the study underscores the efficacy of the planar dynamical approach in capturing system behavior in harmony with phase portrait orbits. The findings have significant implications for telecommunications engineers and researchers, offering insights into system behavior, stability, and signal propagation, ultimately advancing our understanding of complex nonlinear dynamics in telecommunications networks.
