ترصد النسخة العربية من هذا الكتاب، ويقع في 256 صفحة من القطع الكبير، نتائج التنقيبات الأثرية التي أنجزت في محيط مسجد الكتبية، والتي تعد حدثا مفصليا في معرفة تاريخ مدينة مراكش، وبخاصة المحطات التأسيسية الأولى لها، كما تعتبر هذه النتائج نقلة نوعية في البحث التاريخي حول هذه المدينة، إذ لم يعد المصدر الوحيد للكتابة التاريخية حول مراكش هو الوثائق والنصوص التاريخية، بل أصبحت نتائج البحث الأثري مرجعا أساسيا في أي دراسة حول هذه المدينة، ويتمفصل هذا الكتاب حول ثلاثة محاور، المحور الأول بقلم جاك مونيي، بعنوان \"تنقيبات في محيط الكتبية\"، ويتضمن عناوين \"الموقع قبل الحفريات\" و\"حصن علي بن يوسف\" و\"قصر علي بن يوسف\" و\"باب علي بن يوسف\" و\"المسجد الموحدي الأول بمراكش\" وخاتمة ثم جرد وصفي مختصر للقطع الأثرية التي عثر عليها خلال التنقيبات.
