Aussies killed in Thai jet crash
2007
Survivors described a chaotic situation as they tried to escape from windows as fire and smoke consumed the plane. \"I saw passengers engulfed in fire as I stepped over them on the way out of the plane,\" said survivor Parinwit Chusaeng, who was slightly burned. Mr [Worapot Ratthaseema] said that he first feared as many as 100 passengers could have died when the airliner broke in half after crashing while attempting to land in the driving rain and strong winds. \"The casualties could be higher than 90 per cent. I'm at the airport and the plane is still smoking,\" Mr Worapot said. \"You could tell when it was landing it was in trouble,\" he said. \"It was making a noise, this bang.\"
