Caregiver Involvement in the Intensive Mental Health Program: Influence on Changes in Child Functioning
We examined behavioral markers of caregiver involvement and the ways in which family participation was related to treatment outcomes in 47 elementary school children with SED enrolled in a school-based intensive mental health program. Measures of caregiver involvement included therapeutic home visits, attendance at therapeutic meetings, completion of ratings on the daily point sheet, and extra communications with the therapeutic team on the point sheet. Greater initial impairment was associated with greater caregiver involvement. Greater caregiver involvement was linked to improvement in child thought processes, increased ability to provide emotional and social supports for the child, and greater overall child functioning at discharge. Our findings also reflected increased therapists’ attempts to provide additional in-home services in cases where caregivers demonstrated a decline in their ability to provide for their children’s physical and material needs, or in which therapists discovered that the family functioning was more impaired than what was initially assessed. We provide a case study that exemplifies many of these findings.
Elbit's go-to man in naval aviation
During my first test pilot tour, I was lead pilot on the night vision goggles head-up display project. I had to put into practice some of the stuff 1 learned during my academic studies, especially in the human factors area. The \"art\" of placing symbology in front of a pilot's field of vision is challenging. This is when I first came in contact with Elbit Systems and discovered it does things differently.

The Economy: Uncertain Consumers Scale Back Spending --- Car and Home Sales Continue Apace, but Other Major Purchases Are Being Postponed
Also this week, Stanley Furniture Co. lowered earnings expectations for the full year. That was a disappointment to the Stanleytown, Va., company because it had seen an increase in sales of its dining-room and bedroom furniture in the beginning of the year. Sales began to drag in late May and orders during the Fourth of July weekend failed to produce any pickup. Like Mohawk, Stanley blamed its sluggish sales on the stock market. This week, New York investment firm UBS Warburg issued a report, \"Hardlines retail: June data unnerving: Cutting estimates across the board.\" Aram Rubinson, author of the report, lowered earnings estimates or stock-price targets for 10 companies he covers, including home-improvement retailers Home Depot Inc. and Lowe's Cos., and bedding and bathroom retailers Linens 'N Things Inc. and Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. Even that optimism failed to assure Mac Pirkle, owner of a Nashville, Tenn., video-production company. Mr. Pirkle says the economy and stock-market downturn have forced him to postpone buying a new lawnmower. He is sticking with the Craftsman mower he has had for about a decade.
Saturday Talk
So Sen. Saxby Chambliss appeared before reporters in Georgia and told them \"I don't know what was wrong with our [Iraq] strategy or who was responsible for it\" (\"Chambliss, McCain out on a limb on Iraq,\" Metro, Feb. 21). And just last week he was quoted as saying \"I don't know why we are here\" after sitting through Senate hearings documenting fraud and mismanagement in Iraq. I call on [Bob Barr] to lead a statewide boycott of running red lights! Barr could lead his followers in raising their right hands and pledging to refuse to ever run a red light again. Additionally, they will refuse to rear-end the drivers in front of them who are also engaged in these courageous acts of civil obedience. It seems to me that the purpose for voter ID requirements is precisely to eliminate voter fraud, which will, by definition, reduce turnout. Would it be too much to ask the AJC to note that the voter ID laws may, just may, be working?
Uncertain Consumers Scale Back Spending
Daniel and Kelly Reed know what they want: a new dining room table, buffet, a nice bedframe and kitchen upgrades to go along with their new Atlanta bungalow. But fading confidence in the economy has put those purchases, $5,000 in all, on hold.
