Pam Am to acquire Carnival Air Lines

The definitive agreement further provides that, assuming certain conditions are met, Micky Arison, Carnival's primary shareholder, will make a $30 million capital investment. As a result of these transactions, Arison would hold approximately 9.5 million shares of Pan Am stock which would constitute approximately 42% of the outstanding shares of Pan Am stock. \"The Carnival Air acquisition elevates Pan Am to a stronger competitive position and provides significant benefits of critical mass in an expedited, yet controlled manner,\" said Martin R. Shugrue, Jr., Pan Am's president and chief executive officer. \"We were earlier attracted to Carnival Air by its excellent route system, modern fleet and experienced work force and now believe even more fervently that the well-known Pan Am brand, coupled with Carnival Air's substantial assets, will result in a world-class airline,\" he added.

BWIA and American Airlines form strategic alliance

BWIA International Airways and American Airlines, today filed with the U.S. Department of Transportation and will soon file with the appropriate foreign governments a codeshare agreement, which is part the of foundation of a far-reaching strategic alliance. As part of the alliance agreement, BWIA re-located its flight operations at JFK in New York to American Airline's terminal on April 17th. BWIA will put its code, \"BW\", on selected American Airlines flights beyond Miami and/or New York to Boston, Washington D.C. (Dulles and National airports) and Orlando. American Airlines will publish its \"AA\" designator on BWIA flights non-stop between Antigua and both Miami and New York, as well as BWIA's Intra-Caribbean flights between Barbados, Antigua, St. Lucia, Port of Spain and St. Maarten and between Port of Spain and both Grenada and Georgetown.
