A compilation of neologisms not found in dictionaries that are included in the publication Words of the Year (1996) compiled by the Newsletter of the American Dialect Society. Ebonics is identified as the most controversial entry yielding a productive group of words ending in -onics. Words & phrases incorporating, eg, drive-by, friendly, & -gate are highlighted, & it is shown that the Internet has provided to be a productive environment for new words.
