The Hmu language is spoken by approximately 1,250,000 people who reside in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture (黔东南苗族侗族自治州), Guizhou Province (贵州省), the People's Republic of China (Wang & Mao 1995: 3–4; Lewis, Simons & Fenning 2016).
An Effective Strategy for Template-Free Electrodeposition of Aluminum Nanowires with Highly Controllable Irregular Morphologies
Aluminum nanowires with irregular morphologies were prepared by template-free electrodeposition from a room-temperature chloroaluminate ionic liquid. The effects of the diffusion condition and deposition potential on the morphologies of Al nanowires were investigated. The decrease of diffusion flux leads to the formation of particular segmented morphologies of Al nanowires. A dynamic equilibrium between the electrochemical reaction and the diffusion of Al2Cl7− results in the current fluctuation and the periodical variation of diameters in the Al nanowires growth period. Al nanowires with several kinds of morphologies can be controllably electrodeposited under a restricted diffusion condition, without using a template. Increasing the overpotential shows the similar influence on the morphology of Al nanowires as the decrease in diffusion flux under the restricted diffusion condition. Most of the segmented Al nanowires have a single crystalline structure and grow in the [100] orientation. This work also provides a new strategy for the fabrication of nanowires with highly controllable irregular morphologies.
By No Means Marginal: Privative Tone in Zhuokeji Rgyalrong
Zhuokeji Rgyalrong has long been identified as 'atonal' or 'marginally tonal'. This paper presents a wealth of evidence from lexical distinctions and from a wide range of morphological constructions, establishing that Zhuokeji is by no means atonal, nor are tonal modifications restricted to a small range of uses. Instead, in addition to being employed to contrast lexical meanings, tones also serve as an essential device in the formation of all sorts of grammatical categories. This paper demonstrates that Zhuokeji Rgyalrong is a tone language that exhibits a privative system in which /HL/ contrasts with /Ø/. The basic domain of the tonal contrast is the word, and the surface phonological representation of every word is sensitive to the morphological contexts it is situated in. With respect to typology of tone systems, Zhuokeji tone bears both \"Asian\" and \"African\" tonal properties. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
The Raman coupling coefficients of calcium and sodium silicate melts in high-frequency region - SiOT model study
The Raman coupling coefficient (CC), which was defined by Shuker and Gammon, of silicate melt in high-frequency region, is still an untouched subject but the key parameter for quantitatively processing the Raman spectra (RS) to achieve the abundance of microstructural units. In this paper, we present the results of a newly constructed model - SiOT model (Wu et al) about the Raman coupling coefficients of calcium and sodium silicate melts, especially in the high-frequency region. This new model combines classical MD simulation with decomposition of simulated configurations and vibrational analysis including Wilson's GF matrix method, electro-optical parameter method (EOPM) and bond polarizability model (BPM). The displacement dependence of the cluster polarizability through the combination of EOPM and BPM connotes the description of the frequency dependence of CC. This allows us to make a direct comparison for the first time between the calculated VDOS (vibrational density of states) and RS within the entire frequency range. A strong conclusion was given that the partial VDOS, RS and CC are all the intrinsic properties of respective Qi species, and the only variable inducing the change in total VDOS, RS and CC is the change of microstructure, i.e. the distribution of the Qi.
Recent advances and future challenges for massive MIMO channel measurements and models
The emerging fifth generation(5G) wireless communication system raises new requirements on spectral efficiency and energy efficiency. A massive multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) system, equipped with tens or even hundreds of antennas, is capable of providing significant improvements to spectral efficiency,energy efficiency, and robustness of the system. For the design, performance evaluation, and optimization of massive MIMO wireless communication systems, realistic channel models are indispensable. This article provides an overview of the latest developments in massive MIMO channel measurements and models. Also, we compare channel characteristics of four latest massive MIMO channel models, such as receiver spatial correlation functions and channel capacities. In addition, future challenges and research directions for massive MIMO channel measurements and modeling are identified.
Clinical Characteristics and Risk Factors of Left Ventricular Thrombus after Acute Myocardial Infarction: A Matched Case-control Study
Background: Left ventricular thrombus (LVT) is reported to be a common complication in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients. And it has the potential to cause systemic embolism. This retrospective study was to present the current situation of LVT in clinical practice, as well as to evaluate the clinical characteristics and the risk factors of LVT alter AMI. Methods: LVT cases (n = 96) were identified from 13,732 AMI (non-ST elevation myocardial infarction was excluded) patients in Fuwai Hospital's electronic medical records system from January 2003 to January 2013. The controls (n = 192) were gender- and age-matched AMI patients without LVT during this period. A conditional logistic regression (fitted by the Cox model) was performed to identity the independent risk factors. Results: The incidence of LVT after AMI was 0.7%. Univariate analysis indicated that the anterior myocardial infarction (especially extensive anterior myocardial infarction), lower left ventricular ejection traction (LVEF), LVEF ≤40%, severe regional wall motion abnonnalities (RWMA), pericardial effusion, and left ventricular aneurysm were all related to LVT after AMI. The independent risk factors obtained from the conditional logistic regression analysis were lower LVEF (odds ratio (OR) = 0.891, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.828-0.960), extensive anterior myocardial infarction (OR = 6.403, 95% CI: 1,769~3.169), severe RWMA (OR = 7.348, 95% (7:1.32340.819). and left ventricular aneurysm (OR = 6.955.95% CI: 1.673-28.921 ). Conclusions: This study indicated that lower LVEF. extensive anterior myocardial infarction, severe RWMA, and left ventricular aneu,ysm were independent risk factors of LVT after AMI. It also suggested that further efforts are needed for the LVT diagnosis after AMI in clinical practice.

Units in Zhuokeji rGyalrong discourse: Prosody and grammar
This study examines units of prosody and grammar in Zhuokeji rGyalrong (henceforth Zhuokeji), a Tibeto-Burman language spoken by rGyalrong Tibetans in southwestern Sichuan, China. The present study explores how naturally occurring speech flow is organized into basic prosodic units in this language, and examines the grammatical taxonomy of these units. It is the first extensive research on prosody and grammar based on real-time speech in rGyalrong, as well as the first study of tone and intonation in a language that has a privative tonal system of zero versus falling tone. The analysis of Zhuokeji word prosody reveals that the language has a privative tonal system in which falling tone contrasts with zero. Tonal assignment is critically dependent on the metrical parsing of words into feet. The analysis of Zhuokeji intonation, on the other hand, involves three phonological features, namely phrasal rules, prosodic accent, and the boundary tone H%. Together these facts argue for a multi-layered model of prosodic structure that incorporates the syllable, word, foot, prosodic phrase, and intonation unit as domains for distinct yet interacting rules. Zhuokeji speech can be organized into IUs using related prosodic cues, the reliability of which has been confirmed by inter-rater reliability tests. The IUs are then coded for structural type. The distribution of these structural types shows that the preferred syntactic structure of the Zhuokeji IU is the clause. A surprisingly high proportion of multi-clausal IUs (31%) do not follow the “one clause per IU” tendency as observed by Chafe (1980) in English. Nonetheless, it has been shown that most of these seemingly anomalous cases could be accounted for by the proximity principle of iconicity, as well as strong links of rhetorical relations between the clauses within a multi-clausal IU.
