The Dynamics of Interorganizational Collaboration in Disaster Management: A Network Study Based on Flood Disasters in China

Interorganizational collaboration networks have become an important tool for disaster management. However, research on how different organizations can effectively collaborate throughout the entire disaster management process in centralized states such as China is scarce. This study begins to fill this lacuna by investigating interorganizational collaboration in different phases of disaster management and analyzing changes in the structure of the networks constructed during the preparedness and response phases of the 2020 flood disaster in Hubei Province, China. Building on the complex adaptive systems (CAS) theory, we argue that interorganizational collaboration changes dynamically according to its tasks and requirements. In the preparedness phase, interorganizational collaborations primarily follow established plans and choose horizontal self-organized collaboration mechanisms. However, when the urgent information and resource requirements increase in the response phase, many organizations choose vertical mandatory collaboration mechanisms. We found that organizations at the central and provincial levels in China were well positioned to coordinate information and resources and strengthen the interorganizational collaboration and communication that is crucial in disaster management. These findings contribute to the study of interorganizational collaboration networks in disaster management.

DC. is a significant perennial subshrub, the ornamental value of which heavily depends on the type of flower it possesses. MADS-box transcription factors have a particular impact on the intricate process of floral organ development and differentiation. The release of the whole-genome data from
Paeonia ostii
now allows us to conduct a thorough investigation of the tree peony MADS-box gene family.
Results
In this study, we identified 110
MADS-box
genes in
Paeonia ostii
that were classified into 5 subgroups. Gene structure, domain and motif analyses revealed the conservation of the structure of these subgroups. Analysis of the
cis
-acting elements revealed that the 110
PoMADS
genes contained different kinds of hormones and stress-related
cis
-acting elements in their promoter regions. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis was employed to validate the expression patterns of some
PoMADS
genes related to floral organ development. Genome collinearity analysis with
Arabidopsis
and grape revealed the conservation of
PoMADS
genes during evolution. A total of 857 SSRs were identified by analysing the genome sequences of identified genes. We additionally created protein‒protein interaction networks for PoMADS proteins and analysed proteins that could interact among PoMADSs in
Arabidopsis thaliana
and grape.
Conclusion
These findings offer fundamental insights for understanding the function of the
MADS-box
gene family, which can aid in the selection and breeding of tree peony varieties with high ornamental value in addition to supporting the understanding of the process of tree peony floral organogenesis.

Trends in drug-drug interactions for new drug clinical trials in China over the past 10 years (2013–2022)

The number of drug-drug interaction (DDI) clinical trials in China has increased rapidly in recent years. The aim of this study was to summarize and analyze DDI clinical trials in China over the past 10 years. We conducted a cross-sectional study of DDI clinical trials registered in the Chinese Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) from September 6, 2013 to December 31, 2022. All related registration information disclosed on the CDE website were summarized and analyzed. Although the number of DDI clinical trials conducted before 2017 was relatively low, it increased markedly after 2017. The average duration of DDI clinical trials was 85.83 ± 100.99 days from 2013 to 2019 and 107.16 ± 98.57 days from 2020 to 2022. The duration of rifampicin use was 5–19 days, and the investigational drug was administered after 5–14 days of rifampicin use. Itraconazole was administered for 4–17 days, and the investigational drug was administered after 3–10 days of itraconazole use. Clinical trials of drug-drug interactions have recently increased due to the development of new drugs and the updated policies regulating drug registration and marketing. Although the designs of clinical trials comply with the new guidelines, the duration of the administration of interacting drugs still varies widely. Optimizing protocol designs can shorten the implementation period of clinical trials and reduce the costs of drug marketing.

Genetic Diversity and Population Structure Analysis of Tree Peony (Paeonia Section Moutan DC.) Germplasm Using Sixteen Functional SSR Markers

Tree peony (Paeonia section Moutan DC.) is a traditional ornamental flower of China, which has thousands of varieties with different flower colors and types after a long history of natural selection and artificial breeding. However, tree peony is a perennial woody plant with a long breeding, and there are still significant challenges to accelerate the process of genetic improvement of important ornamental traits. In this study, a total of sixteen primer pairs with high polymorphism and good universality were selected from the initial pool of 115 SSR markers. The SSR marker set was derived from published papers on the genetic linkage map and association analysis of tree peony. Furthermore, we conducted a genetic diversity and population structure analysis on 322 tree peony cultivars using molecular markers with functional. These SSRs amplified a total of 391 alleles, the average number of different alleles was 5.113 alleles across all loci. The average Shannon’s information index, gene diversity and polymorphism information content were 0.842, 0.532, and 0.503 over all loci, respectively. Population genetic diversity analysis indicated that the average expected heterozygosity of the total population was larger than the observed heterozygosity, showing the presence of a certain degree of heterozygous deletion phenomenon. The Japan varieties had the richest diversity with the highest H (0.508) and PIC (0.479) values. The Zhongyuan varieties showed the greatest variation may be related to its longstanding cultivation history. Moreover, the STRUCTURE and principal coordinate analyses indicated that 322 tree peony individuals from five populations were grouped into two clusters. An analysis of molecular variance demonstrated significant genetic diversity among different populations. This research may contribute to the sustainable management, conservation, and utilization of tree peony resources.

-axis of 90–110 nm and a finely controllable microporous environment can effectively boost the Fischer–Tropsch synthesis to olefins by shipping the olefin molecules. The ferric carbide catalyst (Na-FeC
x
) physically mixed with a zeolite promoter exhibited a CO conversion of 82.5% with an olefin selectivity of 72.0% at the low temperature of 260 °C. By contrast, Na-FeC
x
alone without the zeolite promoter is poorly active under equivalent conditions, and shows the significantly improved olefin productivity achieved through the zeolite promoter. These results show that the well-designed zeolite, as a promising promoter, significantly boosts Fischer–Tropsch synthesis to olefins by accelerating escape of the product from the catalyst surface.

The Research Status, Potential Hazards and Toxicological Mechanisms of Fluoroquinolone Antibiotics in the Environment

Fluoroquinolone antibiotics are widely used in human and veterinary medicine and are ubiquitous in the environment worldwide. This paper recapitulates the occurrence, fate, and ecotoxicity of fluoroquinolone antibiotics in various environmental media. The toxicity effect is reviewed based on in vitro and in vivo experiments referring to many organisms, such as microorganisms, cells, higher plants, and land and aquatic animals. Furthermore, a comparison of the various toxicology mechanisms of fluoroquinolone antibiotic residues on environmental organisms is made. This study identifies gaps in the investigation of the toxic effects of fluoroquinolone antibiotics and mixtures of multiple fluoroquinolone antibiotics on target and nontarget organisms. The study of the process of natural transformation toward drug-resistant bacteria is also recognized as a knowledge gap. This review also details the combined toxicity effect of fluoroquinolone antibiotics and other chemicals on organisms and the adsorption capacity in various environmental matrices, and the scarcity of data on the ecological toxicology evaluation system of fluoroquinolone antibiotics is identified. The present study entails a critical review of the literature providing guidelines for the government to control the discharge of pollutants into the environment and formulate policy coordination. Future study work should focus on developing a standardized research methodology for fluoroquinolone antibiotics to guide enterprises in the design and production of drugs with high environmental biocompatibility.

Effects of diets on risks of cancer and the mediating role of metabolites

Research on the association between dietary adherence and cancer risk is limited, particularly concerning overall cancer risk and its underlying mechanisms. Using the UK Biobank data, we prospectively investigate the associations between adherence to a Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) or a Mediterranean-Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension Diet Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay diet (MINDDiet) and the risk of overall and 22 specific cancers, as well as the mediating effects of metabolites. Here we show significant negative associations of MedDiet and MINDDiet adherence with overall cancer risk. These associations remain robust across 14 and 13 specific cancers, respectively. Then, a sequential analysis, incorporating Cox regression, elastic net and gradient boost models, identify 10 metabolites associated with overall cancer risk. Mediation results indicate that these metabolites play a crucial role in the association between adherence to a MedDiet or a MINDDiet and cancer risk, independently and cumulatively. These findings deepen our understanding of the intricate connections between diet, metabolites, and cancer development.
Research on the link between adherence to specific type of diets and cancer risk is scant, especially regarding overall cancer risk and the mediating mechanisms. Here, the authors use the UK Biobank data to show negative association of adherence to Mediterranean and Mediterranean-DASH Diet Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay (MIND) diets with cancer risk and the metabolites mediating this association.

Higher Education Talents Strategy in the Context of Regional Talent Hub Construction: Textual Analysis and Endosymbiotic Cooperation Model

In the context of constructing regional education and talent hub, Macao’s higher education talent development strategy impacts the creation of a regional talent hub and the process of industrial diversification. This study adopts a text analysis approach. Through the analysis of 118 texts and the construction of the game model, it reveals that Macao’s talent development has been passing through a “market-controlled” and “policy-driven” stage due to the uniqueness of economic and social development. The model of cooperative game based on endosymbiosis implicates that the talent attraction strategy of higher education can play a leading role in socio-economic development to form a cooperative and symbiotic equilibrium with the region as a whole through the “climbing period” when the “actual state” catches up with the “expected value.” This paper proposes some policy recommendations, including: prospective discipline layout, breaking down of institutional barriers, cooperation and exchange of talent cultivation, and the creation of a talent-sharing mechanism for promoting the construction of a regional talent hub.
