Positive Relational Management and Occupational Well-Being: The Mediating Role of Flourishing and Organizational Citizenship Behaviors
This study examines the relevance of interpersonal relationships in the work environment, focusing specifically on analyzing associations between positive relational management, which refers to the use of relational resources that enable adaptation to the workplace, and key organizational variables such as flourishing, individual-directed organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBis), and life satisfaction. Given the importance of this topic, a structural model is required for the possible relationship between positive relational management and other organizational variables relevant to occupational well-being. As a preliminary step, the Positive Relational Management Scale (PRMS) was analyzed and validated in a sample of 348 Spanish workers. The results revealed that the overall model has a good fit, with reliable and valid construct measures. Moreover, the three-dimensional structure of the model was confirmed, although gender invariance was not satisfied. In conclusion, the results confirm the simple mediation hypothesis, in which flourishing mediates the relationship between positive relational management and life satisfaction. In contrast, multiple mediations between the variables could not be confirmed. This study highlights the importance of interpersonal relationships for employee well-being in the workplace.
Rickettsia sibirica mongolitimonae Infections in Spain and Case Review of the Literature
Rickettsia sibirica mongolitimonae is an emerging cause of tickborne rickettsiosis. Since the bacterium was first documented as a human pathogen in 1996, a total of 69 patients with this infection have been reported in the literature. Because of the rising rate of R. sibirica mongolitimonae infection cases, we evaluated the epidemiologic and clinical features of 29 patients who had R. sibirica mongolitimonae infections confirmed during 2007-2024 at the Center for Rickettsiosis and Arthropod-Borne Diseases, the reference laboratory of San Pedro University Hospital-Center for Biomedical Research of La Rioja, Logroño, Spain. We also reviewed all cases published in the literature during 1996-2024, evaluating features of 94 cases of R. sibirica mongolitimonae infection (89 in Europe, 4 in Africa, and 1 in Asia). Clinicians should consider R. sibirica mongolitimonae as a potential causative agent of rickettsiosis, and doxycycline should be administered promptly to avoid clinical complications.
Potential urine NMR Metabolomic signatures for early diagnosis of paediatric tuberculosis
Early diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) in children is hampered by non-specific symptoms, low bacillary loads, and difficulties in obtaining respiratory samples. We evaluated urinary metabolomics using high-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (HR- 1 H-NMR) spectroscopy as a non-invasive tool to discriminate TB disease, TB infection (TBI), and healthy controls (HC). Urine samples from 101 children enrolled in the Spanish Paediatric TB Network (pTBred) were retrospectively analysed, including 62 TB cases (26 microbiologically confirmed [cTB]), 17 TBI, and 22 HC. Metabolic fingerprints were generated via 1 H-NMR spectroscopy. Group discrimination was assessed using partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) with cross-validation. Metabolites were selected using VIP > 2 and p  < 0.05. Validated PLS-DA models (TB vs. HC, cTB vs. HC and cTB vs. TBI) achieved ≥ 70% accuracy (AUC-ROC 0.867–0.971), with sensitivities ranging from 69.1% to 90.0% and specificities from 77.3% to 86.7%. Discrimination was strongest for cTB vs. TBI (AUC-ROC 0.971; sensitivity 90.0%; specificity 86.7%). A set of discriminatory metabolites was identified across validated comparisons. Compared with HC, TB disease was characterized by increased levels of phenylalanine and two unidentified NMR signals, together with reductions in several energy and nitrogen-related metabolites; benzoate and histidine showed borderline differences. In contrast, TBI was associated with higher levels of isoleucine, N-acetylglutamine, glutamine, creatinine and 2-hydroxyvalerate. Urine HR- 1 H-NMR metabolomics suggests potential distinct metabolic signatures across TB states. While not yet suitable as a confirmatory test, these preliminary findings show potential as a triage tool to help prioritise children for microbiological testing and may eventually reduce the need for invasive sampling.
Individual Crafting, Collaborative Crafting, and Job Satisfaction: The Mediator Role of Engagement
Most theories of job crafting understand the term to refer to an individual activity, and only a few studies have focused on collaborative job crafting. The present study has two aims. First, to adapt and validate a Spanish version of the Individual and Collaborative Crafting Scale. Second, to test a simple mediation model of engagement on the relationship between individual and collaborative crafting and job satisfaction. The sample consisted of 301 people. The data were analyzed using the Smart PLS statistical program, version 3.2.6., using the partial least squares (PLS) path modeling method. The results reveal that the Spanish language version of the Individual and Collaborative Crafting Scale is both valid and reliable. Moreover, engagement was found to fully mediate the relationship between job crafting and job satisfaction, with the hypothesized model explaining 78.4% of the variance observed in job satisfaction.
A meta-analysis of psychological empowerment: Antecedents, organizational outcomes, and moderating variables
Psychological empowerment (PE) is a subjective, cognitive and attitudinal process that helps individuals feel effective, competent and authorized to carry out tasks. Over the last twenty years, research into PE has reported strong evidence reaffirming its role as a motivational factor in organizational psychology. In this study, the aim is to systematically review, analyze and quantify correlational empirical research focusing on empowerment, as understood by the theory developed by Spreitzer et al. ( 1995a , b ), using meta-analytical techniques. The study also analyses the antecedents and consequences of PE and explores potential moderators of the relationship between this variable and its correlates. The electronic search encompassed studies dating from the publication of Spreitzer's empowerment scale ( Academy of Management Journal , 38 , 1442–1465, 1995b ) up to January 2019. It was conducted in database aggregators, as well as in Metabus, occupational psychology journals and doctoral thesis repositories. Of the 1110 records identified, 94 were included in the meta-analysis. Most of the studies included used purposive or convenience sampling and had a cross-sectional study design. We focused on searching for studies that use a survey analysis approach. We extracted information about effect size (ES) in the associations between PE and its antecedents and consequences, and used the Comprehensive Meta-analysis 2.0 program to carry out the analyses (Borenstein et al., 2005 ). Effect size was calculated as the Pearson correlation ( r ), processed using Fisher's Z transformation. A random effects model was used and heterogeneity was analyzed to detect moderator variables. In relation to antecedents, in all meta-analyses, non-significant results were found only for education ( r  = -.001, CI [-.06, .06]) and organizational rank ( r  = .10, CI [-.16, .36]). All meta-analyses focusing on the association between psychological empowerment and its consequences returned significant results. Job satisfaction ( r  = .50) and organizational commitment ( r  = .51) had the largest effect sizes. Our results suggest which factors may be more important for generating empowerment among employees in accordance with the profession in which they work and their culture of origin. The main novelty offered by our results is that they indicate that age moderates the relationship between empowerment and the majority of the antecedents studied, a finding not reported in other meta-analyses. The present meta-analysis may help encourage organizations to pay more attention to PE, focusing their efforts on improving or strengthening certain structures or factors. Empowerment initiatives or programs focused on employee well-being lead to a workplace in which people are motivated and have a sense of purpose. Our results allow us to recommend interventions that enhance and improve the antecedents of EP. Finally, the present meta-analysis may help encourage organizations to pay more attention to the antecedents and consequences of PE, focusing their efforts on improving or strengthening certain structures or factors.
Computability of the packing measure of totally disconnected self-similar sets
We present an algorithm to compute the exact value of the packing measure of self-similar sets satisfying the so called Strong Separation Condition (SSC) and prove its convergence to the value of the packing measure. We also test the algorithm with examples that show both the accuracy of the algorithm for the most regular cases and the possibility of using the additional information provided by it to obtain formulas for the packing measure of certain self-similar sets. For example, we are able to obtain a formula for the packing measure of any Sierpinski gasket with contraction factor in the interval  $(0,\\frac{1}{3}]$ .
Desequilibrio esfuerzo-recompensa y quejas subjetivas de salud: estudio exploratorio entre médicos en España
This cross-sectional study aimed to explore whether the impact of Effort-Reward Imbalance (ERI) on health complaints was moderated by overcommitment. A sample of 164 Spanish medical doctors that filled in a paper and pencil questionnaire. The negative effect of perceived ERI on subjective health complaints was stronger for employees with high or medium overcommitment, while it was positive and non-significant for those with low overcommitment. The present study can contribute to a better understanding of how and when ERI boosts the risk of subjective health complaints. Accordingly, early intervention designed to buffer the negative effects of ERI would focus on increasing individual level of overcommitment.

Risk scores for Kawasaki disease, a management tool developed by the KAWA-RACE cohort
Introduction/objectives Asian scores developed to predict unresponsiveness to intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) or development of coronary artery aneurysms (CAA) in patients with Kawasaki disease (KD) are not appropriate in Western populations. The purpose of this study is to develop 2 scores, to predict unresponsiveness to IVIG and development of CAA, appropriate for Spanish population. Method Data of 625 Spanish children with KD collected retrospectively (2011–2016) were used to identify variables to develop the 2 scores of interest: unresponsiveness to IVIG and development of CAA. A statistical model selected best variables to create the scores, and scores were validated with data from 98 patients collected prospectively. Results From 625 patients of the retrospective cohort, final analysis was performed in 439 subjects: 37 developed CAA, and 212 were unresponsive to IVIG. For the score to predict CAA, a cutoff ≥ 8 was considered for high risk, considering a score system with a different weight for each of the eight variables. External validation showed a sensitivity of 22% and a specificity of 75%. The score to predict unresponsiveness to IVIG established a cutoff ≥ 8 for high risk, considering a score system with a different weight for each of the nine variables. External validation showed a sensitivity of 78% and a specificity of 50%. Conclusions Two risk scores for KD were developed from Spanish population, to predict development of CAA and unresponsiveness to IVIG; validation in other cohorts could help to implement these tools in the management of KD in other Western populations. Key Points • Two risk scores for KD were developed from Spanish population, to predict development of CAA and unresponsiveness to IVIG. • External validation of the score to predict development of CAA showed a sensitivity of 22% and a specificity of 75%. • External validation of the score to predict unresponsiveness to IVIG showed a sensitivity of 78% and a specificity of 50%.
Designing a Model of Antecedents of Positive Organizational Behavior
The present study was conducted to design and test a model of some antecedents of positive organizational behavior. The design of the current study was correlation using structural equation modeling. The participants in the research were employees who were chosen using a stratified random sampling method and answered the questionnaires on a leader-member exchange, organization-oriented self-esteem, positive organizational behavior, perceived organizational support, role ambiguity, and psychological ownership. Evaluation of the proposed model was done through structural equation modeling. The bootstrap method was also used to check the indirect relationships in the proposed model. The results showed that the proposed model has a good fit with the data. The findings also indicated the significance of the direct effect of the variables of psychological ownership, leader-member exchange, and perceived organizational support on positive organizational behavior. Indirect relationships through organizational self-esteem were also confirmed. Based on the findings of the present research, which confirms the fit of the proposed research model with the data, as well as direct and indirect relationships, it is recommended to pay attention to the variables affecting positive organizational behavior.
