\"In Providence, Rhode Island, a dangerous inmate disappears from a hospital for the insane. At Miskatonic University, a professor slumps into a five-year reverie. In a mysterious and vivid dreamworld, a melancholy man seeks the home of the gods. And in the frozen wasteland of Antarctica, polar explorers unearth secrets that reveal a past almost beyond comprehension--and a future too terrible to imagine. Graphic novelist I.N.J. Culbard gives terrifying form to four classic tales by H.P. Lovecraft: \"The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath,\" \"The Case of Charles Dexter Ward,\" \"At The Mountains of Madness,\" and \"The Shadow Out of Time.\" Expertly adapted and beautifully drawn, Culbard's lean and thrilling adaptations breathe new life into four stories that helped to reinvent the horror genre.\"-- Amazon.com

Illustrated in haunting black and white over 30 years ago, these comics are re-presented in a new edition, adapting three of H.P. Lovecraft's most famous stories involving the Cthulhu Mythos. \"The Nameless City\" is considered the first story of Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos, detailing the discovery of an ancient city in the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula built by an unnamed race of beings of reptilian appearance. In \"The Festival\" a man arrives at the sea town of Kingsport, Massachusetts during Christmas but finds a place eerily empty and centuries out of date. \"The Call of Cthulhu\" is perhaps Lovecraft's most famous story, describing a man who after finding the notes of his grand-uncle is lead on a journey around the world in search of this mysterious and disturbing phenomenon.

Randolph Carter embarks on an epic quest across a world beyond the wall of sleep, in search of an opulent and mysterious sunset city. When he prays to the gods of dream to reveal the whereabouts of this magical city, they do not answer, and his dreams stop altogether. Undaunted, Carter resolves to go to Kadath, where the gods live, and beseech them in person. However, no one has ever been to Kadath, and no one even knows how to get there--but that won't stop Randolph Carter from trying.
