Dynamic Response Calculation of Inertial Coupled Nonlinear Systems Based on Real Modal Analysis and P-T Method
2025
The development of efficient and accurate numerical methods forms a crucial foundation for revealing complex dynamic evolution in nonlinear dynamical systems. Focusing on nonlinear inertia-coupled systems, this paper constructs a semi-analytical method that integrates the mathematical framework of real modal analysis with the piecewise constant arguments and Taylor series (P-T) method. This method first conducts symmetric preprocessing on the second-order term coefficient matrix of the system to construct the proportional damping decoupling form. Then, it realizes the linear term decoupling corresponding to this proportional damping form by using the mathematical framework of real modal analysis. Finally, the P-T method is applied to solve the dynamic response of the nonlinear system. Numerical validation using a two-dimensional aeroelastic system demonstrates that, under the premise of achieving the same computational accuracy as the time-domain minimum residual method (TMRM), the computational efficiency of the proposed method is significantly better than that of TMRM.

One Earth–One Health to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance Having a Dual Mutation Pattern, Based on the Robust Self-Regulation and Perpetual Reconstruction of Ecosystems
2025
Background/Objectives: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has emerged as a grave threat to human health, and a One Earth–One Health (OE-OH) concept was proposed for addressing this challenge in 2024. Here, this concept was systematically defined, clarified, and refined, for better understanding, interpreting related results, and taking some measures to combat the crisis. Methods: Using logical reasoning and deductive methods, a dual mutation pattern was put forward for microbial resistance, adhering to the principle of parsimony and integrating Lamarckian, Darwinian, and Niche construction theories, and the evolutionary origins of current AMR were schematically presented. Subsequently, its theoretical foundation, together with a fundamental mathematical model, was defined and clarified based on the robust self-regulation and perpetual reconstruction of ecosystems, and then the generation, dissemination, and elimination of AMR and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) were sorted out and elucidated from abiotic and biotic factors. Finally, learning from the approach of problem management, some crucial measures are suggested for the research and development, application, and management of antibiotics, emphasizing the key role of simulating and utilizing the self-regulation of ecosystems. Results: A dual mutation pattern of microbial resistance and the evolutionary origins of current AMR was put forward. The theoretical foundation of the OE-OH concept, together with a fundamental mathematical model, was presented. Some unique perspectives, such as the emergence of AMR and ARGs 3.5 billion years ago and their ubiquity across the globe prior to antibiotic use, were clarified. Moreover, some crucial measures are proposed for addressing AMR. Conclusions: It is essential to implement the OH Joint Plan of Action from the OE-OH perspective, strongly emphasizing the key role of simulating and utilizing the self-regulation of ecosystems on addressing AMR.

Predictive value of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio in the prognosis and risk of death for adult sepsis patients: a meta-analysis
2024
The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a commonly used biomarker for acute inflammation that often rises during sepsis, making it a valuable diagnostic indicator for clinical practice. However, no consensus has been reached on the prognostic value of NLR for predicting the prognosis and mortality risk in adult sepsis patients. In light of this controversy, we conducted a meta-analysis to clarify the prognostic significance of NLR in adult sepsis patients. The meta-analysis was registered in the PROSPERO database (registration number CRD42023433143).
We performed a comprehensive literature search in PubMed, Cochrane Library, Ovid, and Springer databases, using retrieval terms \"
\" or \"
\" and \"
\" or \"
\" for studies published between January 1, 2000, and May 31, 2023. Children and neonates with sepsis were excluded from our research. Two independent researchers conducted the literature search and data extraction. Consensus was reached when discrepancies occurred, and in case of persistent discrepancies, the final decision was made by the research supervisor. The hazard ratio (HR) and its corresponding 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were extracted from each study included in the analysis. A random-effects model was used to synthesize all HRs and their 95% CIs. Sensitivity analysis was performed to investigate heterogeneity. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to identify studies that had a significant impact on the overall results of the meta-analysis. Subgroup analysis and meta-regression were performed to explore sources of heterogeneity. Egger's test was also used to investigate publication bias in this meta-analysis.
After a comprehensive literature search and screening, we included 12 studies comprising 10,811 patients for the meta-analysis. The pooled results indicated that patients with a higher NLR level were associated with a poor prognosis (Random-effects model, HR: 1.6273, 95% CI: 1.3951-1.8981). Heterogeneity testing showed significant heterogeneity (I
87.2%, 95% CI: 79.5-92, p<0.0001). Sensitivity analysis was performed to investigate the sources of heterogeneity, which revealed that the omission of one highly sensitive study significantly reduced the I
value. After removing this study, a strong association was found between a higher NLR level and poor prognosis and risk of death in adult sepsis patients (Random-effects model, HR: 1.6884, 95% CI: 1.4338-1.9882). Both subgroup analysis and meta-regression indicated that the study design and testing time of NLR were sources of heterogeneity. Egger's test showed no obvious publication bias in this meta-analysis.
NLR is a reliable and valuable biomarker for predicting prognosis and the risk of death in adult sepsis patients.

Examining Protection Motivation and Network Externality Perspective Regarding the Continued Intention to Use M-Health Apps
2021
M-health apps have developed rapidly and are widely accepted, but users’ continued intention to use m-health apps has not been fully explored. This study was designed to obtain a better understanding of users’ continued intention to use m-health apps. We developed a theoretical model by incorporating the protection motivation theory and network externalities and conducted an empirical study of a 368-respondent sample. The results showed that: (1) perceived vulnerability has a direct impact on users’ self-efficacy and response efficacy; (2) self-efficacy and response efficacy have a direct impact on users’ attitudes and continued intention; (3) network externalities affect users’ attitudes and continued intention, among which direct network externalities have an indirect impact on users’ continued intention through attitude; and (4) the impacts of self-efficacy, response efficacy, and indirect network externalities on continued intention are partially meditated by attitudes.

Reconstruction of Land Surface Temperature Derived from FY-4A AGRI Data Based on Two-Point Machine Learning Method
2023
Land surface temperature (LST) is one of the most important parameters of the interface between the earth surface and the atmosphere, and it plays a significant role in many research fields, such as agriculture, climate, hydrology, and the environment. However, the thermal infrared band of remote sensors is easily affected by clouds and aerosols, leading to many data gaps in LST products, which restricts the subsequent application of these products. In this paper, Beijing, China, is selected as the study area, and the LST data retrieved from Fengyun 4A (FY-4A) Advanced Geosynchronous Radiation Imager (AGRI) are reconstructed based on the two-point machine learning method. Firstly, the two-point machine learning model is built to reconstruct the theoretical clear-sky LST from simulated and actual images, and the accuracy of the reconstruction results is evaluated compared with the random forest algorithm and the inverse distance weighted method. Secondly, the actual LST under the influence of clouds is reconstructed by using the ERA5 reanalysis LST data as the auxiliary data, and the reconstruction accuracy is then evaluated by the field measurement LST data. The experimental results show that (1) the prediction accuracy of the two-point machine learning method is higher than that of the random forest method in both simulated data and actual data experiments; (2) the R2 of reconstructed LST under theoretical clear-sky conditions is 0.6860 and the root mean square error (RMSE) is 2.9 K, while the R2 of the reconstructed accuracy of actual LST under clouds is 0.7275 and the RMSE is 2.6 K, i.e., the RMSE decreases by 10.34%; (3) the two-point machine method combined with the auxiliary ERA5 LST data can well reconstruct LST under cloudy conditions and present a reasonable LST distribution.

Hydrogen Peroxide Electrochemical Sensor Based on Ag/Cu Bimetallic Nanoparticles Modified on Polypyrrole
2023
Due to the strong oxidizing properties of H2O2, excessive discharge of H2O2 will cause great harm to the environment. Moreover, H2O2 is also an energetic material used as fuel, with specific attention given to its safety. Therefore, it is of great importance to explore and prepare good sensitive materials for the detection of H2O2 with a low detection limit and high selectivity. In this work, a kind of hydrogen peroxide electrochemical sensor has been fabricated. That is, polypyrrole (PPy) has been electropolymerized on the glass carbon electrode (GCE), and then Ag and Cu nanoparticles are modified together on the surface of polypyrrole by electrodeposition. SEM analysis shows that Cu and Ag nanoparticles are uniformly deposited on the surface of PPy. Electrochemical characterization results display that the sensor has a good response to H2O2 with two linear intervals. The first linear range is 0.1–1 mM (R2 = 0.9978, S = 265.06 μA/ (mM × cm2)), and the detection limit is 0.027 μM (S/N = 3). The second linear range is 1–35 mM (R2 = 0.9969, 445.78 μA/ (mM × cm2)), corresponding to 0.063 μM of detection limit (S/N = 3). The sensor reveals good reproducibility (σ = 2.104), repeatability (σ = 2.027), anti-interference, and stability. The recoveries of the electrode are 99.84–103.00% (for 0.1–1 mM of linear range) and 98.65–104.80% (for 1–35 mM linear range). Furthermore, the costs of the hydrogen peroxide electrochemical sensor proposed in this work are reduced largely by using non-precious metals without degradation of the sensing performance of H2O2. This study provides a facile way to develop nanocomposite electrochemical sensors.

Recent progress on construction and applications of metal‐organic frameworks‐based materials for lithium‐ion batteries and supercapacitors
2024
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs), a special sort of three‐dimensional crystalline porous lattices composed of organic multi‐site connectors and metal nodes, are characterized by unique porosity and high specific surface area, which have attracted a wide range of interest as electrode materials for the electrochemical energy storage devices in recent years. In this contribution, we outline the current research progress on the construction of pristine MOFs, MOF composites, and MOF derivatives and their applications as electrode materials in supercapacitors (SCs) and lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs). Specifically, we discuss the shortcomings of MOFs‐based electrode materials for SCs and LIBs. The innovative work on performance improvements by combining MOFs with other conductive materials and derivating MOFs into metal sulfides, metal oxides, metal phosphides, and porous carbon is also presented in detail. Finally, our perspectives on the challenges in the future for a grasp of the potential mechanisms are tentatively provided. This review will inspire more developments and applications of MOFs‐based electrode materials for electrochemical energy storage. This work provides an overview of current approaches for the construction of pristine metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs), MOF composites and MOF derivatives, and also describes research on the applications of MOF‐based materials as electrode materials for lithium‐ion batteries and supercapacitors. On this basis, some future challenges are tentatively provided in grasping the underlying mechanisms.

Background
Peritoneal drainage (PD) following laparoscopic appendectomy(LA) has long been considered beneficial for appendicitis patients, especially those with complicated appendicitis. However, recent research has raised doubts about the advantages of PD, as it not only fails to reduce postoperative complications but also prolongs the operative duration and hospital stay and incurs higher medical expenses. Given this controversy, we conducted a meta-analysis to determine whether drainage is necessary after LA for complicated appendicitis. This meta-analysis had registered in PROSPERO(ID: CRD42023472382).
Objective
This study assessed current evidence regarding the efficacy, safety, and potential benefits of drainage versus no drainage following LA for complicated appendicitis.
Methods
We conducted a comprehensive search of PubMed, Springer, and the Cochrane Library using the search terms “
appendicitis
”, “
laparoscopic appendectomy
”, and “
drain
” or “
drainage
” for studies published between January 1, 2000, and December 31, 2022. We employed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) criteria for study inclusion and exclusion. Primary outcomes included postoperative intra-abdominal abscess, postoperative intestinal obstruction, postoperative stump leakage, wound infection and postoperative visual analog scale(VAS) score, while secondary outcomes consisted of operative time, postoperative recovery time and total hospitalization duration. Studies with at least two outcomes were considered for meta-synthesis. Depending on I
2
values, fixed- or random effects models were used for data synthesis. Pooled odds ratios (OR) and weighted mean differences (WMD) were calculated for outcome comparisons between PD and no peritoneal drainage (NPD). Sensitivity analysis and meta-regression were performed to assess and investigate inter-study heterogeneity.
Results
After conducting our literature search and screening, twelve studies were analyzed, comprising 3374 cases. During the comparison of primary outcomes between PD and NPD, the incidence of wound infection and postoperative VAS score were significantly higher in the PD group(
P
< 0.05). While during the comparison of secondary outcomes, the operative duration, postoperative recovery time and hospitalization duration were significantly longer in the PD group than in the NPD group(
P
< 0.05).
Conclusion
PD following LA for complicated appendicitis not only increases the incidence wound infection and aggravate patients’ postoperative pain, but also prolongs the operative duration, postoperative recovery time and hospitalization duration. Therefore, routine PD after LA for acute complicated appendicitis is not recommended.

Diagnostic value of magnetic controlled capsule endoscopy in patients with chronic abdominal pain: a retrospective two-center study
2025
Magnetic controlled capsule endoscopy (MCE) overcomes limitations of capsule endoscopy and achieves one-time gastro-small intestinal joint examination. However, few studies have reported diagnostic value of MCE of gastrointestinal lesions in patients with abdominal pain. This study aims to investigate clinical applications of MCE in patients with abdominal pain. 465 patients suffered chronic abdominal pain and 366 asymptomatic subjects from two hospitals were included. Patient characteristics, MCE findings, incomplete examinations, examination time and adverse events were evaluated. In the abdominal pain group, disease spectrum was more diverse covering 45 types gastrointestinal lesions. Gastric lesions including atrophic gastritis, erosion, ulcer, carditis, polyp and submucosal tumor, and small intestinal lesions including lymphangiectasia, erosion, ulcer, angiotelectasis, bleeding and Crohn’s disease, had the higher detection rates (all
P
< 0.05). Some patients detected small intestinal lesions accompanied by diarrhea, weight loss and hematochezia. The abdominal pain group had the lower completion rate and longer transit time (all
P
< 0.05). In conclusion, MCE is beneficial to detect diverse disease spectrum and atrophic gastritis, ulcer, erosion, Crohn’s disease and small intestinal bleeding in patients with abdominal pain, and to find more lesions as one-time gastro-small intestine joint examination, with efficiency, safety, noninvasiveness and high completion rate.

Thermal decompositions and heat capacities study of a co-based zeolitic imidazolate framework
2020
Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs), a sub-class of metal–organic frameworks, have also been intensively investigated in many fields because of the excellent thermal stability. However, the thermal decomposition and heat capacity of ZIFs were little studied. ZIF-67 was very classical which has been widely used for CO2 capture and gas separation, and its derivatives were widely applied in energy storage and conversion. Herein, the thermal decomposition process of ZIF-67 and its intermediates were studied. Moreover, the molar heat capacity and the thermodynamic functions of ZIF-67 were explored for the first time. The molar heat capacity increased as the temperature increased in the temperature range of 296–352 K.
