Assessing the impact of land surface temperature on urban net primary productivity increment based on geographically weighted regression model
Urbanization had a huge impact on the regional ecosystem net primary productivity (NPP). Although the urban heat island (UHI) caused by urbanization has been found to have a certain promoting effect on urban vegetation NPP, the factors on the impact still are not identified. In this study, the impact of urbanization on NPP was divided into direct impact (NPP dir ) and indirect impact (NPP ind ), taking Kunming city as a case study area. Then, the spatial heterogeneity impact of land surface temperature (LST) on NPP ind was analyzed based on the geographically weighted regression (GWR) model. The results indicated that NPP, LST, NPP dir and NPP ind in 2001, 2009 and 2018 had significant spatial autocorrelation in Kunming based on spatial analytical model. LST had a positive impact on NPP ind in the central area of Kunming. The positively correlation areas of LST on NPP ind increased by 4.56%, and the NPP ind caused by the UHI effect increased by an average of 4.423 gC m −2 from 2009 to 2018. GWR model can reveal significant spatial heterogeneity in the impacts of LST on NPP ind . Overall, our findings indicated that LST has a certain role in promoting urban NPP.
Transplantation of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells promotes the recovery of thin endometrium in rats
The endometrium plays a critical role in embryo implantation and pregnancy, and a thin uterus is recognized as a key factor in embryo implantation failure. Umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) have attracted interest for the repair of intrauterine adhesions. The current study investigated the repair of thin endometrium in rats using the UC-MSCs and the mechanisms involved. Rats were injected with 95% ethanol to establish a model of thin endometrium. The rats were randomly divided into normal, sham, model, and UC-MSCs groups. Endometrial morphological alterations were observed by hematoxylin–eosin staining and Masson staining, and functional restoration was assessed by testing embryo implantation. The interaction between UC-MSCs and rat endometrial stromal cells (ESCs) was evaluated using a transwell 3D model and immunocytochemistry. Microarray mRNA and miRNA platforms were used for miRNA-mRNA expression profiling. Gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) analyses were performed to identify the biological processes, molecular functions, cellular components, and pathways of endometrial injury and UC-MSCs transplantation repair and real-time quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) was performed to further identify the expression changes of key molecules in the pathways. Endometrium thickness, number of glands, and the embryo implantation numbers were improved, and the degree of fibrosis was significantly alleviated by UC-MSCs treatment in the rat model of thin endometrium. In vitro cell experiments showed that UC-MSCs migrated to injured ESCs and enhanced their proliferation. miRNA microarray chip results showed that expression of 45 miRNAs was downregulated in the injured endometrium and upregulated after UC-MSCs transplantation. Likewise, expression of 39 miRNAs was upregulated in the injured endometrium and downregulated after UC-MSCs transplantation. The miRNA-mRNA interactions showed the changes in the miRNA and mRNA network during the processes of endometrial injury and repair. GO and KEGG analyses showed that the process of endometrial injury was mainly attributed to the decomposition of the extracellular matrix (ECM), protein degradation and absorption, and accompanying inflammation. The process of UC-MSCs transplantation and repair were accompanied by the reconstruction of the ECM, regulation of chemokines and inflammation, and cell proliferation and apoptosis. The key molecules involved in ECM-receptor interaction pathways were further verified by qRT-PCR. Itga1 and Thbs expression decreased in the model group and increased by UC-MSCs transplantation, while Laminin and Collagen expression increased in both the model group and MSCs group, with greater expression observed in the latter. This study showed that UC-MSCs transplantation could promote recovery of thin endometrial morphology and function. Furthermore, it revealed the expression changes of miRNA and mRNA after endometrial injury and UC-MSCs transplantation repair processed, and signaling pathways that may be involved in endometrial injury and repair.
Highly efficient fiber-shaped organic solar cells toward wearable flexible electronics
Fiber-shaped solar cells (FSCs) show great potential to act as the power source in the wearable electronics field. Due to the unique advantages of the fiber-shaped organic solar cells (FOSCs), such as all-solid-state, ease of fabrication, and environmental friendliness, FOSCs are the strongest candidate among all types of FSCs for wearable electronics. However, the development of FOSCs is seriously lagging behind other types of FSCs. In this work, we demonstrate the efficient FOSCs with non-fullerene-acceptors (NFAs)-based light-harvesting materials. The FOSCs present efficiencies exceeding 9% under AM 1.5 G irradiation conditions. The performance influence factors including hole/electron transport layers, active layer, counter electrodes, solvents, and especially, the environmental humidity is systematically studied. The FOSCs not only can easily drive the electrical devices but also can be woven into the textile to charge the smartwatch. The study exhibits the great potential to apply the FOSCs as the power supply source in the wearable electronic field.
DCAF13 promotes breast cancer cell proliferation by ubiquitin inhibiting PERP expression
Evolutionarily conserved DDB1‐and CUL4‐associated factor 13 (DCAF13) is a recently discovered substrate receptor for the cullin RING‐finger ubiquitin ligase 4 (CRL4) E3 ubiquitin ligase that regulates cell cycle progression. DCAF13 is overexpressed in many cancers, although its role in breast cancer is currently elusive. In this study we demonstrate that DCAF13 is overexpressed in human breast cancer and that its overexpression closely correlates with poor prognosis, suggesting that DCAF13 may serve as a diagnostic marker and therapeutic target. We knocked down DCAF13 in breast cancer cell lines using CRISPR/Cas9 and found that DCAF13 deletion markedly reduced breast cancer cell proliferation, clone formation, and migration both in vitro and in vivo. In addition, DCAF13 deletion promoted breast cancer cell apoptosis and senescence, and induced cell cycle arrest in the G1/S phase. Genome‐wide RNAseq analysis and western blotting revealed that loss of DCAF13 resulted in both mRNA and protein accumulation of p53 apoptosis effector related to PMP22 (PERP). Knockdown of PERP partially reversed the hampered cell proliferation induced by DCAF13 knockdown. Co‐immunoprecipitation assays revealed that DCAF13 and DNA damage‐binding protein 1 (DDB1) directly interact with PERP. Overexpression of DDB1 significantly increased PERP polyubiquitination, suggesting that CRL4DCAF13 E3 ligase targets PERP for ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation. In conclusion, DCAF13 and the downstream effector PERP occupy key roles in breast cancer proliferation and potentially serve as prognostics and therapeutic targets. DCAF13 is overexpressed in breast cancer and its overexpression closely correlates with the poor prognosis. DCAF13 deletion markedly decreased breast cancer cell proliferation, clone formation, and migration both in vitro and in vivo.DCAF13 promotes breast cancer cell proliferation by inhibiting the expression of PERP.
Mapping service capabilities using ISM and fuzzy DEMATEL
In the present competitive landscape, small enterprises (SEs) must consistently strive to enhance and sustain their position by utilizing suitable capabilities. Recognizing such advancements is mostly linked to service capabilities and resources. Nonetheless, there is a lack of research focused on evaluating service capabilities in isolation or from a purely functional perspective to ascertain the criteria associated with service capabilities in small firms supported by hybrid methodologies. Consequently, employing the resource-based view (RBV), the current study examined the links among these criteria and analyzed their interdependencies and strengths. The present study utilized interpretive structural modeling (ISM) and fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (fuzzy DEMATEL) methodologies for this objective. The findings indicated that the criterion analysis and formulation of the strategy is of greater significance than other criteria. The research findings about service capacities are examined for practical insights.
Analyses of Factors Associated with Acute Exacerbations of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: A Review
Acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) is the exacerbation of a range of respiratory symptoms during the stable phase of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). AECOPD is thus a dangerous stage and key event in the course of COPD, as its deterioration and frequency seriously affects the quality of life of patients and shortens their survival. Acute exacerbations occur and develop due to many factors such as infection, tobacco smoke inhalation, air pollution, comorbidities, airflow limitation, various biomarkers, history of previous deterioration, natural killer cell abnormalities, immunoglobulin G deficiency, genetics, abnormal muscle and nutritional status, negative psychology, and seasonal temperature changes. There is relatively limited research on the impact of the role of standardized management on the alleviation of AECOPD. However, with the establishment of relevant prevention and management systems and the promotion of artificial intelligence technology and Internet medical approaches, long-term effective and standardized management of COPD patients may help to achieve the quality of life and disease prognosis in COPD patients and reduce the risk of AE.
ConAnomaly: Content-Based Anomaly Detection for System Logs
Enterprise systems typically produce a large number of logs to record runtime states and important events. Log anomaly detection is efficient for business management and system maintenance. Most existing log-based anomaly detection methods use log parser to get log event indexes or event templates and then utilize machine learning methods to detect anomalies. However, these methods cannot handle unknown log types and do not take advantage of the log semantic information. In this article, we propose ConAnomaly, a log-based anomaly detection model composed of a log sequence encoder (log2vec) and multi-layer Long Short Term Memory Network (LSTM). We designed log2vec based on the Word2vec model, which first vectorized the words in the log content, then deleted the invalid words through part of speech tagging, and finally obtained the sequence vector by the weighted average method. In this way, ConAnomaly not only captures semantic information in the log but also leverages log sequential relationships. We evaluate our proposed approach on two log datasets. Our experimental results show that ConAnomaly has good stability and can deal with unseen log types to a certain extent, and it provides better performance than most log-based anomaly detection methods.
Therapeutic effect of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells on injured rat endometrium during its chronic phase
Background Repair deficiency after endometrial injury is an important reason for intra-uterine adhesions, amenorrhea, and infertility in females. Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC) transplantation is effective in repairing the damaged endometrium. However, the possibility of using umbilical cord-derived MSCs (UC-MSCs) to treat endometrial injury is rarely reported. Methods Ethanol (95%) was injected into rat uterus to establish a model of endometrial injury. UC-MSCs were injected through the tail vein, either as a single, twice, or thrice administration. Functional restoration of the uterus was assessed by testing embryo implantation rates. Endometrial morphological alteration was observed by hematoxylin and eosin staining. Endometrial fibrosis, markers of epithelial and stromal cells of endometrium, cell proliferation and angiogenesis, and inflammatory factors were detected using immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, and quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction. Results Endometrial morphology and embryo implantation rates were significantly improved on day 8 of transplantation among single-, twice-, or thrice-administered rats. Moreover, UC-MSCs could alleviate fibrosis in general, and reduced the expression of fibrosis markers, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and transforming growth factor (TGF)-β. The cell proliferation marker Ki-67 had a positive expression in the injured endometrium after UC-MSC transplantation. The endometrial stromal marker vimentin and epithelial marker cytokeratin-19 (CK-19) expressions were visibly increased. The expression of vascular markers CD31, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)A, and matrix metalloprotein (MMP)9 was generally upregulated. Proinflammatory factors interferon (IFN)-γ, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and interleukin (IL)-2 were significantly downregulated in the rats administered UC-MSCs twice and thrice. Conclusions UC-MSC transplantation contributed to the repair of endometrial injury and restoration of fertility, likely through the suppression of excessive fibrosis and inflammation, and enhancement of endometrial cell proliferation and vascular remodeling.
A study of the relationship between serum asprosin levels and MAFLD in a population undergoing physical examination
Asprosin, an adipokine, was recently discovered in 2016. Here, the correlation between asprosin and metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) was examined by quantitatively assessing hepatic steatosis using transient elastography and controlled attenuation parameter (CAP). According to body mass index (BMI), 1276 adult participants were enrolled and categorized into three groups: normal, overweight, and obese. The study collected and evaluated serum asprosin levels, general biochemical indices, liver stiffness measure, and CAP via statistical analysis. In both overweight and obese groups, serum asprosin and CAP were greater than in the normal group ( p  < 0.01). Each group showed a positive correlation of CAP with asprosin ( p  < 0.01). The normal group demonstrated a significant and independent positive relationship of CAP with BMI, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), asprosin, waist circumference (WC), and triglycerides (TG; p  < 0.05). CAP showed an independent positive association ( p  < 0.05) with BMI, WC, asprosin, fasting blood glucose (FBG), and TG in the overweight group, and with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) showed an independent negative link ( p  < 0.01). CAP showed an independent positive relationship ( p  < 0.05) with BMI, WC, asprosin, TG, LDL-C, FBG, glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), and alanine transferase in the obese group. CAP also showed an independent positive link ( p  < 0.01) with BMI, WC, asprosin, TG, LDL-C, and FBG in all participants while independently and negatively correlated ( p  < 0.01) with HDL-C. Since asprosin and MAFLD are closely related and asprosin is an independent CAP effector, it may offer a novel treatment option for metabolic diseases and MAFLD.
Genetic analysis of stay green related traits in maize with major gene plus polygenes mixed model
Maize is one of the main food crops in the world, and cultivating high-yield and high-quality maize varieties is of great significance in addressing food security issues. Leaves are crucial photosynthetic organs in maize, and leaf senescence can result in the degradation of chlorophyll. This, in turn, impacts photosynthetic activity and the accumulation of photosynthetic products. Delaying leaf senescence and increasing carbon assimilation can enhance grain yield and biomass production. The stay green of maize is an important trait closely related to yield, feed quality and resistance. Therefore, this study employed multi-generation joint analysis of major genes and a polygene model to investigate the genetic inheritance of stay green-related traits. Four populations (P 1 , P 2 , F 1 and F 2 ) were obtained by crossing T01 (stay green) × Xin3 (non-stay green) and T01 (stay green) × Mo17 (non-stay green) under two environments. Six stay green-related traits, including visual stay green (VSG), number of green leaves (GLNM), SPAD value of ear leaf at anthesis (SPADS), SPAD value of ear leaf at maturity (SPADM), absolute green leaf area (GLAD), grain yield per plant (GYP), displayed continuous variations with kurtosis and skewness values of absolute value less than 1 and distribution close to normal. They were characterized by typical inheritance of quantitative traits, with these traits demonstrating the transgressive segregation. The correlation analysis among the traits revealed that five stay green traits have a positive impact on yield. VSG, GLNM and SPADM in the two populations were regulated by the two major genes of additive effects plus additive-dominance polygene model with a major gene heritability varying from 89.03 to 95.95% in the F 2 generation. GLAD in TMF 2 was controlled by two major genes of equal-additive dominance effects with high heritability (93.47%). However, in TXF 2 , GLAD was regulated by two major genes of additive-dominance interaction effects plus additive-dominance polygene model. These results provide important genetic information for breeding, which could guide the improvement of stay green-related traits. They also lay a foundation for quantitative trait loci mapping of the stay stay-green traits in maize.
