We study the factorization of quasi generalized quark distributions with twist-2 generalized parton distributions. We use an approach which is different than that used in literature. Using the approach we derive the factorization relations of all quasi generalized quark distributions at one-loop. The contributions from twist-2 generalized gluon distributions are included. Our results apply not only to the quasi distributions of a spin-1/2 hadron but also to those of a hadron with any spin.

We study the factorization relations between quasi gluon GPDs and twist-2 GPDs. The perturbative coefficient functions are obtained at one-loop level. They are free from any collinear- or I.R. divergences. Unlike the case of the factorization of quasi quark GPDs at one-loop, we have to add ghost contributions for the factorization of quasi gluon GPDs in order to obtain gauge-invariant results. In general, operators will be mixed beyond tree-level. Our work shows that the mixing pattern of the nonlocal operators in quasi gluon GPDs is the same as those of local operators, i.e., the nonlocal operators considered are mixed with gauge-invariant operators, BRST-variation operators and operators involving EOM operator. The factorization relations are obtained for all quasi gluon GPDs. Taking the forward limit, we also obtain the relations between quasi gluon PDFs and twist-2 PDFs.

Gluon GPDs and exclusive photoproduction of quarkonium in forward region
Forward photoproduction of \\[J/\\psi \\] can be used to extract generalized parton distributions (GPDs) of gluons. We analyze the process at twist-3 level and study relevant classifications of twist-3 gluon GPDs. At leading power or twist-2 level the produced \\[J/\\psi \\] is transversely polarized. We find that at twist-3 the produced \\[J/\\psi \\] is longitudinally polarized. Our study shows that in the high-energy limit the twist-3 amplitude is only suppressed by the inverse power of the heavy quark mass relatively to the twist-2 amplitude. This indicates that the power correction to the cross-section of unpolarized \\[J/\\psi \\] can have a sizable effect. The poles in the hard factor convoluted with twist-3 gluon GPDs may concern the GPDs discontinuities, which will be briefly discussed in this work. We have also derived the amplitude of the production of \\[h_c\\] at twist-3, but the result contains end-point singularities. The production of other quarkonia has been briefly discussed.

Fracture functions are parton distributions of an initial hadron in the presence of an almost collinear particle observed in the final state. They are important ingredients in QCD factorization for processes where a particle is produced diffractively. There are different fracture functions for a process in different kinematic regions. We take the production of a lepton pair combined with a diffractively produced particle in hadron collisions to discuss this. Those fracture functions can be factorized further if there are large energy scales involved. We perform one-loop calculations to illustrate the factorization in the case with the diffractively produced particle as a real photon. Evolution equations of different fracture functions are derived from our explicit calculations. They agree with expectations. These equations can be used for resummations of large log terms in perturbative expansions.

Soft-gluon-pole contribution in single transverse-spin asymmetries of Drell-Yan processes
2011
We use multi-parton states to examine the leading order collinear factorization of single transverse-spin asymmetries in Drell-Yan processes. Twist-3 operators are involved in the factorization. We find that the so-called soft-gluon-pole contribution in the factorization must exist in order to make the factorization correct. This contribution comes from the corresponding cross-section at one-loop, while the hard-pole contribution in the factorization comes from the cross-section at tree-level. Although the two contributions come from results at different orders, their perturbative coefficient functions in the factorization are at the same order. This is in contrast to factorizations only involving twist-2 operators. The soft-gluon-pole contribution found in this work is in agreement with that derived in a different way. For the hard-pole contributions we find an extra contribution from an extra part on process contributing to the asymmetries. We also solve apart of discrepancy in evolutions of the twist-3 operator. The method presented here for analyzing the factorization can be generalized to other processes and can be easily used for studying factorizations at higher orders, because the involved calculations are of standard scattering amplitudes.

Deep Inelastic Scattering (Phenomenology)
2021
A
bstract
In the target fragmentation region of Semi-Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering, the diffractively produced hadron has small transverse momentum. If it is at order of Λ
QCD
, it prevents to make predictions with the standard collinear factorization. However, in this case, differential cross-sections can be predicted by the factorization with fracture functions, diffractive parton distributions. If the transverse momentum is much larger than Λ
QCD
but much smaller than
Q
which is the virtuality of the virtual photon, both factorizations apply. In this case, fracture functions can be factorized with collinear parton distributions and fragmentation functions. We study the factorization up to twist-3 level and obtain gauge invariant results. They will be helpful for modeling fracture functions and useful for resummation of large logarithm of the transverse momentum appearing in collinear factorization.

On unique predictions for single spin azimuthal asymmetry
2004
Theoretically there are two approaches to predict single spin azimuthal asymmetries. One is to take transverse momenta of the partons into account by using transverse momentum dependent parton distributions, while another is to take asymmetries as twist-3 effects. The non-perturbative effects in these approaches are parameterized with different matrix elements, and predictions can be different. Recently, gauge invariant definitions of transverse momentum dependent parton distributions were derived. With these definitions it can be shown that there are relations between non-perturbative matrix elements in these two approaches. These relations may enable us to unify two approaches and to have unique predictions for single spin azimuthal asymmetries. In this letter we derive these relations by using time-reversal symmetry and show that even with these relations the single spin azimuthal asymmetry in a Drell-Yan process is predicted differently in different approaches.

QCD corrections of all structure functions in transverse momentum dependent factorization for Drell-Yan processes
2014

We study the one-loop correction in Transverse-Momentum-Dependent(TMD) factorization for Drell-Yan processes at small transverse momentum of the lepton pair. We adopt the so-called subtractive approach, in which one can systematically construct contributions for subtracting long-distance effects represented by diagrams. The perturbative parts are obtained after the subtraction. We find that the perturbative coefficients of all structure functions in TMD factorization at leading twist are the same. The perturbative parts can also be studied with scattering of partons instead of hadrons. In this way, the factorization of many structure functions can only be examined by studying the scattering of multi-parton states, where there are many diagrams. These diagrams have no similarities to those treated in the subtractive approach. As an example, we use existing results of one structure function responsible for Single-Spin-Asymmetry, to show that these diagrams in the scattering of multi-parton states are equivalent to those treated in the subtractive approach after using Ward identity.

The collinear factorization at twist-3 for Drell-Yan processes is studied with the motivation to solve the discrepancy in literature about the single spin asymmetry in the lepton angular distribution, and to show how QCD gauge invariance is realized in the hadronic tensor. The obtained result here agrees with our early result derived with a totally different approach. In addition to the asymmetry we can construct another two observables to identify the spin effect. We show that the gauge invariance of different contributions in the hadronic tensor is made in different ways by summing the effects of gluon exchanges. More interestingly is that we can show that the virtual correction to one structure function of the hadronic tensor, hence to some weighted SSA observables, is completely determined by the quark form factor. This will simplify the calculation of higher order corrections. The corresponding result in semi-inclusive DIS is also given for the comparison with Drell-Yan processes.

An office building outbreak
2020
Tuberculosis (TB) is generally considered a disease that principally afflicts the low-income segments of a population. In the Nanshan District of Shenzhen, China, with the economic transformation and a new Headquarters Economy (HE) emerging, there are now more cases in office workers than in manufacturing workers. To illustrate this trend, we describe a small TB outbreak in an office building located in the centre of the rapidly growing HE district. Two active pulmonary tuberculosis cases were found in workers who shared an office, and whole genome sequencing showed that the genetic distance between the strains of the two cases was just one single nucleotide polymorphism, consistent with intra-office transmission. Investigation of 30 other workers in the same or adjacent offices with interviews, interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs) and chest X-rays, identified one new TB case and latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in 40.0% (12/30) of the contacts. The offices were under-ventilated. None of the IGRA positive, asymptomatic contacts agreed to receive treatment for LTBI, presumably due to TB stigma, and over the next 2 years 69.0% (20/29) of the contacts were lost to follow-up. Treatment for LTBI and stigma of TB remain challenges here. Office workers in the HE of rapidly economic developing areas should be targeted with increased vigilance by TB control programmes.
