Alexander defied Blair on Section 28
WENDY Alexander, the minister at the centre of the Section 28 controversy, defied a personal plea from Tony Blair to drop her campaign to make its repeal a high-profile priority for the Scottish Executive, Scotland on Sunday can reveal. MSP fury at Straw's secret Tyson talks
HOME Secretary Jack Straw held a secret meeting with Mike Tyson's management 12 days before the Scottish parliament learned that the boxer was planning to fight in Glasgow, Scotland on Sunday can reveal. Last night MP Jimmy Wray, who organised the meeting in Straw's private office and was accompanied by Lord Brooks, a steward of the British Boxing Board of Control, admitted: \"We were very pleased with the meeting - Jack Straw gave us a fair hearing.\" But the revelation has provoked further fury from MSPs, who believe the Home Secretary's decision personally to meet Tyson's supporters on May 3 has undermined his claims to have made an even- handed judgment on Thursday, when he announced that Tyson, a convicted rapist, could enter Britain.
