Leadership is an essential skill for success in nursing practice, influencing the nursing team’s organization, the quality of health services and decision-making in complex situations. The COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted the need for leadership in nursing, with nurses playing a crucial role in addressing the crisis. However, there are challenges in leadership training, with conventional expository class methods often neglecting this skill. This study proposes to evaluate the impact of an online educational module focused on leadership for Nursing students, recognizing the importance of training future professionals from the beginning of their careers. To present a study protocol to evaluate the effect of an online educational module in comparison with a conventional expository class related to knowledge acquisition by Nursing students on the topic of Leadership. A Randomized Controlled Study, single-blind, two-arm will be conducted. Sixth semester students regularly enrolled in the nursing course will take part in the study. Participants will be randomly distributed into two groups, namely the Control Group, which will undergo a conventional class, and the Experimental Group, which will undergo an online educational module. Two important moments will be considered to evaluate the results of the intervention. A pesquisa, em fase de design, terá resultados, conclusões e análises definidos após a coleta de dados. The primary outcome is expected to demonstrate that the online module is equal to or superior to the conventional module in the acquisition of knowledge about leadership, addressing topics such as team involvement, organizational culture, conflict management and feedback. The secondary outcome will assess the acquisition of knowledge about leadership through an adaptation of the Nursing Student Self-Perception Questionnaire in the Exercise of Leadership.

The hospital is an organization that has its own characteristics that differentiate it from other institutions. It is characterized as a company providing services of social purpose, with a great operational complexity, due to the diversity of services provided. These organizations are dependent on technology to play the role of assisting society. Technology is onerous: it is up to the aforementioned institutions to adopt management tools to control these costs. The present study explains the process of implementing a shared service centre (CENTROMED) for the management of hospital medical equipment (HME) at the Hospital Universitário Onofre Lopes (HUOL) in the city of Natal, RN.
In order to achieve a successful implementation, four key steps were taken: process modelling; determination of key performance indicators, organization of physical arrangement; and adequate training and development of human resources. The work followed an action research approach focusing on three main methodological steps: identification of HUOL clinical engineering team's demands, definition of the process for providing the equipment service, and definition of the supply items that will be managed.
The preliminary results of this research indicate that the centralization of the management of the HME contributed to the optimization of the processes, the reduction of the costs and the availability of the equipment, thus providing a powerful management tool to support the hospital operational management.
The utilization of the shared service center for the management of hospital medical equipment is ultimately linked to the patient's well-being as it contributes to the agility in hospital procedures and provides support in maintaining the capacity of attendance of the assistance teams.

Aim This study aimed to identify and map the production of knowledge on non‐pharmacological strategies to reduce stress and anxiety in patients undergoing endovascular procedures. Design Scoping review. Methods The review was performed using the PRISMA‐ScR guidelines. The searches were conducted in Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, Wiley Online Library, BVS/BIREME, Lilacs, Gale Academic OneFile, SciELO, Cochrane Library, CAPES Catalog of Dissertations and Theses, Oswaldo Cruz Foundation Portal of Theses and Dissertations, and Theses and Dissertations from Latin America. Results Twenty‐two articles were selected. The articles were published from 2001 to 2022, mostly in Iran, and there was a predominance of randomized clinical trials. The Spielberger State‐Trait Anxiety Inventory was the most used instrument. The findings indicated that music therapy, educational guidelines or videos on the procedure, massage, psychological preparation and aromatherapy were the main non‐pharmacological therapies used to reduce anxiety and stress in patients undergoing vascular procedures.

Abiotic stresses, particularly water deficit, are major constraints to global agricultural productivity. This study aimed to evaluate physiological and proteomic responses in two sugarcane genotypes, a cross-commercial cultivar and a self-fertilization clone, subjected to water deficit stress in the field. The experiment was conducted under rain-fed conditions. Organic solutes, photosynthetic pigments, gas exchange, and the quantum efficiency of photosystem II were evaluated. Total protein was extracted using the phenol method, and the peptides were analyzed using mass spectrometry. Elevated proline levels in clone RB061047 suggest a potentially enhanced adaptive response to water-deficit stress. There were no marked differences in the photosynthetic pigments between clone RB061047 and the commercial cultivar, RB867515. Self-fertilization did not negatively affect the physiological performance of RB061047 under water-deficit conditions because the higher photosynthetic rate and the consequent more efficient use of water suggest a marked gain in biomass and productivity. The ATP synthase alpha subunit YABB2 protein, fructose-bisphosphate aldolase, and nucleoside diphosphate kinase 1 emerged as potential candidates for the development of functional molecular markers for the selection and development of new sugarcane cultivars that are more tolerant to water-deficit stress.

Interdigitated Electrode for Electrical Characterization of Commercial Pseudo-Binary Biodiesel–Diesel Blends

Non-standard diesel blends can be harmful to the environment and human health. In this context, a simple analytical method to estimate the biodiesel mixture ratio in diesel was developed based on impedance spectroscopy (IS) associated with interdigitated sensors. In this article, four different interdigitated sensors with varied comb spacing (G) were simulated using the COMSOL Multiphysics software. Based on finite element simulations, four interdigitated electrode architectures were manufactured and evaluated. The best geometry was chosen according to theoretical data simulations, and its interdigitated electrodes were manufactured for the compositional evaluation of pseudo-binary biodiesel–diesel mixtures. According to the X-ray powder diffraction technique, the deposition of the conductive layer (Au0) over the surface of the dielectric substrate (SiO2) did not alter its phase composition. In the analysis of AFM and SEM, it was possible to observe irregular edges on the electrodes, possibly related to the manufacturing process of the thin layers and mechanical stability. Another characteristic observed in the AFM images was the height of the step of the gold layer of the sensor. Several cross sections were obtained, and the mean step value was 225.71 ± 0.0032 nm. Although there were differences in the roughness, the whole sensor had nanometric roughness. Based on the finite element method simulation performed, it can be assumed that the geometric parameters more suitable for the manufacturing of the electrode are W = 20 µm, L = 1000 µm, G = 50 µm, and N = 40 digits. The electrical characterization performed by impedance spectroscopy showed that we could differentiate between biodiesel and diesel fuels and their pseudo-binary mixtures in the low-frequency region.

Maize is a crop of significant economic importance. In the northeast region of Brazil, it serves as the foundation of family support for the majority of farmers. However, achieving high levels of productivity requires an adequate water supply throughout its growth cycle. The northeast semi-arid region experiences low rainfall and high potential evapotranspiration, directly affecting maize development and leading to severe declines in productivity. In this study, genetic selection and proteomic analysis are proposed as a strategy to identify the tolerance of maize cultivars against water stress. The experiments were conducted under two water regimes using randomized block designs with three replicates. Development and productivity traits were evaluated, and genetic parameters were estimated using mixed linear models. Selection for water stress tolerance was based on the harmonic mean of the relative performance of genotypic values. Total protein extraction from maize leaves followed the protocol established by the phenol method, and peptides were analyzed through mass spectrometry. The AG8677P cultivar demonstrated remarkable productivity under drought stress conditions, and proteins related to various fundamentally important biological processes for the tolerance mechanism were identified. The combination of genetic selection with proteomic analysis proves to be an efficient strategy, even in the face of limited resources and a small number of treatments.

Rainfall Projections for the Brazilian Legal Amazon: An Artificial Neural Networks First Approach

Rainfall in the Brazilian Legal Amazon (BLA) is vital for climate and water resource management. This research uses spatial downscaling and validated rainfall data from the National Water and Sanitation Agency (ANA) to ensure accurate rain projections with artificial intelligence. To make an initial approach, Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) with Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) were employed to forecast rainfall from 2012 to 2020. The RNN model showed strong alignment with the observed patterns, accurately predicting rainfall seasonality. However, median comparisons revealed fair approximations with discrepancies. The Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) ranged from 6.7 mm to 11.2 mm, and the coefficient of determination (R2) was low in some series. Extensive analyses showed a low Wilmott agreement and high Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), highlighting limitations in projecting anomalies and days without rain. Despite challenges, this study lays a foundation for future advancements in climate modeling and water resource management in the BLA.
