Background: Super High-Intensity Continuous Training (SHCT) is a type of aerobic training program that combines high intensity with continuous loads, such as running for 20 min at 75%, 80%, or even 95% of the velocity at maximal oxygen uptake. Recent studies show significant positive effects, but the consequences of prolonged use remain unknown. Purpose: This study aims to investigate and evaluate the effects of prolonged application of the SHCT model in elite team handball players. Method: For this purpose, a field-based quasi-experiment was organized using the SHCT training model on 14 professional female team handball players competing in the first national league who participated in 16 weeks of SHCT training during the competition season. Results: After the application of SHCT training, the increases in the parameters of the aerobic profile (distance run in Cooper’s 12 min run test, maximum rate of oxygen consumption, value of the maximum relative oxygen consumption, running speed for which maximum rate of oxygen consumption occurs) reached from 25.4% to 35.2%. The effect size of these changes was η2p > 0.90 and was significant at the p < 0.001 level. Conclusions: The investigated aerobic model is effective. Therefore, its use is recommended for designing aerobic training for elite teams and the general sports population.

Background/Objectives: The correlation of handgrip strength (HGS) and morphological characteristics with Big Five personality traits is well documented. However, it is unclear whether these relationships also exist in highly trained and specialized populations, such as tactical athletes, and whether there are specific differences compared to the general population. This study aimed to explore the interplay of handgrip neuromuscular, morphological, and psychological characteristics in tactical athletes and the general population of both genders. Methods: The research was conducted on a sample of 205 participants. A standardized method, procedure, and equipment (Sports Medical solutions) were used to measure the isometric neuromuscular characteristics of the handgrip. Basic morphological characteristics of body height, body mass, and body mass index were measured with a portable stadiometer and the InBody 720 device. Psychological characteristics were assessed with the Mental Toughness Index and Dark Triad Dirty Dozen questionnaires. Results: Numerous significant correlations were obtained, as well as differences between tactical athletes and the general population of both genders. The most prominent correlations were between the excitation index with Psychopathy and the Dark Triad (ρ = −0.41, −0.39) in female tactical athletes, as well as Neuroticism with body height, maximal force, and the maximum rate of force development in the male general population (ρ = 0.49, 0.43, 0.41). The obtained results also revealed gender and occupational specific patterns of researched relationships. Conclusions: Although the results of this study indicated the possibility of the existence of correlations between handgrip neuromuscular, morphological, and psychological characteristics in tactical athletes of both genders, nevertheless, at the moment, there is not enough solid evidence for that. That is why new research is needed. An analysis of muscle contractile and time parameters as neuromuscular indicators in the HGS task proved to be a possible promising method, which brought numerous new insights about the researched relationships. For practical application in the field, we propose including Mental Toughness and the Dark Triad traits in the selection process for future police officers and national security personnel based on the obtained results.

Empathy in Public Safety: Selection Standards, Gender Differences, and Relations with Existing Selection Predictors
2026
Objectives: This study investigates empathy levels among the public safety personnel and their relationship with current selection indicators (morphological, neuromuscular, and psychological characteristics), highlighting the importance of the topic and its potential for further research. Methods: The research was conducted on a sample of 136 police and national security students. The cross-sectional design was applied. Empathy was assessed with the Interpersonal Reactivity Index. Basic morphological characteristics were measured with a portable stadiometer and the InBody 720 device. Neuromuscular characteristics were measured using a handgrip strength test with a sliding device that measures isometric finger flexor force. Psychological characteristics were assessed using the Big Five Plus Two, the Mental Toughness Index, and the Dark Triad Dirty Dozen questionnaires. Results: Numerous significant differences between female and male participants, as well as gender-specific correlation patterns, were revealed. Female participants expressed more fantasy (3.23 ± 1.05), empathic concern (3.71 ± 0.75), and personal distress (1.76 ± 0.67) than males (2.84 ± 0.84; 3.37 ± 0.71; 1.5 ± 0.53). Among them, negative correlations of psychological distress with conscientiousness (ρ = −0.66) and mental toughness (ρ = −0.59) stand out. Conclusions: This study indicates the possible existence of correlations between empathy, neuromuscular, morphological, and psychological characteristics in public safety personnel of both genders, with gender-specific patterns. Results indicate opportunities for further research aimed at improving the efficiency of the existing selection system.

Early identifi cation and selection of candidates with the potential to become elite players are among the most common concepts in modern football. The goal of this research is to evaluate the predictive value of a wide battery of tests measuring the anthropometric, motor, and psychological characteristics of young elite soccer players during their youth phase, and to construct an eff ective predictive model of career success based on the results obtained. Anthropometric, motor, and psychological characteristics of 111 football players-members of the national teams from U13 to U18 of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (comprising the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Montenegro) at the time of initial data collection were retrospectively analyzed in relation to the career outcomes over a 23-year follow-up period, culminating with the offi cial retirement of the last participant. Quantifi ed data were processed using descriptive statistics, multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), and canonical discriminant analysis with the SPSS 20 software package. Limitations of this study include: the small number of top-class players, which limits the ability to draw general conclusions; player selection was done chronologically instead of biologically, there is a lack of transitive testing, the choice of players for the team is determined by the coach's personal taste, the factors of the social environment that infl uenced players' development are not known, and there are not enough similar studies for comparison. The principal fi nding of this study is the eff ective diff erentiation of participants into distinct categories based on their anthropometric, motor, and psychological characteristics. The predictive model, derived from these variables, demonstrated a high level of accuracy in classifying players according to their subsequent career success.

The influence of technical and tactical elements of water polo on victory and defeat in Champions League matches
2023
Intoduction. Water polo is team, contact sport played in the swimming pool with a ball. It is characterized by dynamism, specific type of swimming in all directions, changing body position in the water, ball handling, passing and shooting at the goal and by unpredictable situations in the defense and attack phase. Game-related statistics are an integral part of water polo match analyses. They enable a special insight into reasons for winning or losing by comparing specific game parameters. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between the technical and tactical parameters in regards to the results of the preliminary and final matches of the Champions League in water polo in the 2021 season. In view of that, the research also aims to clarify the relationship between the winning and losing teams in the preliminary and final stages of the competition. Methods. The sample used includes the analysis of 56 water polo games played within 14 rounds of the preliminary part of the league, and 12 games of the final F8 tournament in Belgrade. A total of 32 technical and tactical variables related to defense and attack were analyzed. They were obtained from the official statistical match reports. Results. Based on the descriptive statistic, manova and canonical discriminant analyses of water polo segments, seven variables from the model were found to be significant for winning a match in the Champions League of the 2020/21 season (total shot score, total shot %, extra player goal %, blocked shots, counterattack score, counterattack shoot and sprint), while the leading parameters were blocked shots and 20second player exclusion in the center position. Conclusion. In this research, we determined that the outcome of a match can be scientifically explained with 91.9% accuracy, based on technical and tactical indicators.

Control of Physically Connected Off-Road Skid-Steering Robotic Vehicles Based on Numerical Simulation and Neural Network Models
2026
The use of robots in various industries has increased significantly in recent years, with mobile robots playing a central role in automation. Their applications range from service robotics and automated material handling to bomb disposal and planetary exploration. A rapidly growing area of mobile robotics involves coordinated groups of autonomous robots, commonly referred to as swarms. However, only a limited number of studies have addressed systems in which ropes or wires physically connect robots. Connecting multiple autonomous robotic vehicles with a tensioned wire can form a movable fence, enabling coordinated motion as a single dynamic entity. This paper presents a real-time control approach for the off-road motion of physically connected skid-steering robotic vehicles. A numerical-simulation-driven artificial neural network is employed as a surrogate model to estimate wheel–ground load distribution online, enabling stable steering control and accurate trajectory tracking on rough terrain while accounting for wire-induced coupling effects.

High demand for part customization shifts industries toward AM technologies. Part customization in high-volume manufacturing is developed to its limits, whereas low-volume production using AM is still economically unjustified. FDM technology is quite common in low-volume AM production, but the main issue is poor printing parameter optimization which may result in insufficient final part quality. The subject of this paper is the experimental determination of the optimal parameters for the PLA polymer FDM parts, focusing on nozzle temperature and printing speed. Part geometry and mechanical properties are evaluated for the temperature range of 170–210 °C and speeds of 40, 80, and 120 mm/min. Roughness measurements for part geometrical accuracy assessment and tensile tests for mechanical property estimation have shown the clear advantage of 190 °C and 40 mm/min over the other parameter combinations. However, for higher FDM process productivity 80 mm/min speed may also be considered with 190 °C.

This article aims to investigate the mechanical characteristics cf specimens fabricated using Selective Laser Sintering technology. The research covers flexural specimens, produced by PA12 materials. CAD model dimensions were selected according to the ISO 178 standard, and the chosen specimen geometry is 96 x 8 x 4 [mm] in bulk. All specimens were produced using a specialized machine Fuse 1 (FormLabs, Summerville, MA). Four specimen batches were produced, each with a deferent printing orientation (i.e. vertical and horizontal) and location on the printing plate (i.e. in the middle and on the edge cf the powder bed). The specimens are tested using a Shimadzu universal machine for testing the mechanical characteristics cf materials, AGS-X 100 kN, with a unique additional tool for testing 3-point bending specimens.

In the scenario of a natural or human-induced disaster, traditional communication infrastructure is often disrupted or even completely unavailable, making the employment of emergency wireless networks highly important. In this paper, we consider an industrial Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system assisted by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that restores connectivity from the master terminal unit (MTU) to the remote terminal unit (RTU). The UAV also provides power supply to the ground RTU, which transmits the signal to the end-user terminal (UT) using the harvested RF energy. The MTU-UAV and UAV-RTU channels are modeled through Nakagami-m fading, while the channel between the RTU and the UT is subject to Fisher–Snedecor composite fading. According to the channels’ characterization, the expression for evaluating the overall probability of outage events is derived. The impact of the UAV’s relative position to other terminals and the amount of harvested energy on the outage performance is investigated. In addition, the results obtained based on an independent simulation method are also provided to confirm the validity of the derived analytical results. The provided analysis shows that the position of the UAV that leads to the optimal outage system performance is highly dependent on the MTU’s output power.
