Optimizing Military Planners Course of Action Decision-Making
Military planners are faced with ever-increasing constraints, obstacles, and priority readjustments during the course of action (COA) development. This upward trajectory places a more demanding cognitive workload on decision makers, which only further complicates their jobs. An effort to mediate workload is currently ongoing in the armed services through the development of systems that assist the planners in COA decision-making. I conducted an experiment that evaluates three different strategies for route selection within the Tool for Multi-Objective Planning and Asset Routing (TMPLAR) framework to aid decision makers through the use of route filtering (via sliders) and clustering (via scatter-gather) to support the selection of high utility routes while reducing route selection latency and associated workload. Study participants went through multiple levels of COA planning in a game-like scenario-driven computer application. The results suggest that filtering through slider configurations tools will enhance users to select the better routes that reflect the commander’s intent compared to the other two strategies. Also, this study delivered feedback on usability and perceived workload from using TMPLAR. The research achieved at improving our understanding of military decision making to assist military leaders in using supervisory control of an optimizer for accurate, efficient route planning.

No single overdetermining or celebrational theory drives the narrative, and instead there is a balanced recognition of beer's historical role in both joining and dividing people. Arthur appears to limit the topic to fermented cereal drinks (i.e., beers) yet includes Medieval aqua vitae (which were distilled spirits), “banana beer,” and the famous Neolithic mixture of beer and wine from Jiahu (China) as if they were all the same thing. Levantine archaeologists will be surprised to hear that jugs had no strainers until 1000 BC, given their fairly common presence in second millennium strata, or that strainer jugs were necessarily made for drinking beer and not wine (p. 21).

Optimizing Stabilizer Parities for Improved Logical Qubit Memories
We study variants of Shor's code that are adept at handling single-axis correlated idling errors, which are commonly observed in many quantum systems. By using the repetition code structure of the Shor's code basis states, we calculate the logical channel applied to the encoded information when subjected to coherent and correlated single qubit idling errors, followed by stabilizer measurement. Changing the signs of the stabilizer generators allows us to change how the coherent errors interfere, leading to a quantum error correcting code which performs as well as a classical repetition code of equivalent distance against these errors. We demonstrate a factor of 4 improvement of the logical memory in a distance-3 logical qubit implemented on a trapped-ion quantum computer. Even-distance versions of our Shor code variants are decoherence-free subspaces and fully robust to identical and independent coherent idling noise.

The best protection against this wear is to hard surface with carbide or chrome-carbide filler metals. * For a more severe type of abrasion, high-stress grinding -a type of wear that occurs from repeated grinding and crushing - filler metals that contain austenitic manganese, martensitic irons or titanium carbides are best. * Finally, to protect against gouging abrasion, the most severe type caused by large rocks pressing and creating grooves on the material, use a filler metal with high carbide alloys and austenitic manganese as protection. An austenitic manganese steel filler metal is a good choice in this situation, as it offers reliable work-hardening characteristics to protect against compressive loads and high mechanical stress.

With the duplex wave, only one solder pot is available for production use at a given time. The second wave remains in a liquid standby state outside the conveyance in an enclosed chamber sealed within the main unit. Each solder pot contains a dual wave system, including chip and Lambda operations. Although consistent with standard wave systems, the Lambda wave includes agitation properties to improve solder quality.
