Crown prosecutor Kelly Winchester said when the man had a friend check out the vehicle he had purchased from Reynold's Collision Centre/Reynold's Auto Salvage on the O'Dell Loop Road, he discovered the original VIN (vehicle identification number) had been replaced by one from a vehicle deemed to be roadworthy. \"It was sold to Reynold's for parts,\" Winchester said, but Reynold's had used parts from another car it had purchased to put the Malibu back on the road, along with a new VIN number belonging to the other vehicle. \"They shouldn't have done it,\" he said of the VIN switch. \"Not that the car was unsafe. There is no evidence of that.\"
