A hybrid metaheuristic algorithm for collaborative scheduling optimization of port coal transportation
Port coal transportation scheduling faces significant challenges with slow response times and low efficiency, especially under dynamic disruptions. To address these issues, this research proposes a novel hybrid meta-heuristic algorithm that deeply integrates the improved Ant Colony Optimization (IACO) and the Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure (GRASP). The proposed IACO-GRASP algorithm is designed to enhance collaborative scheduling by effectively coordinating global exploration and local optimization. The major findings from a case study at Qinhuangdao Port demonstrate that the algorithm increases ship turnover efficiency by 36.25% and reduces the empty running rate by 25.18%, leading to an estimated annual cost saving of 18.95 million yuan. Comparative experiments also show that the algorithm’s convergence speed is significantly improved over other hybrid methods. These findings highlight the potential of IACO-GRASP as a robust and efficient decision-support tool for building responsive, resource-optimized, and intelligent port operations.
Sex Differences in Personality Disorder and Childhood Maltreatment of Patients with Schizophrenia
Despite numerous studies investigating personality disorder (PD) and childhood maltreatment (CM) characteristics in individuals with schizophrenia (SZ), there remains a scarcity of research focusing on sex differences in PD and CM within large samples of SZ patients. A total of 592 participants (257 males, 335 females) were consecutively sampled from patients diagnosed with SZ at the psychiatric and psycho-counseling clinics at Shanghai Mental Health Center. PDs were assessed using a self-reported personality diagnostic questionnaire and a structured clinical interview, while CMs were evaluated using the Chinese version of the Child Trauma Questionnaire Short Form. Male patients exhibited a prominent self-reported trait of antisocial PD ( =1.972, =0.049), while female patients demonstrated a notable emphasis on histrionic PD traits ( =-2.057, =0.040). Structured interviews for PD diagnoses further indicated a higher comorbidity of schizotypal ( =4.805, =0.028) and schizoid ( =6.957, =0.008) PDs among male patients compared to female patients. Additionally, male patients reported a higher degree ( =2.957, =0.003) and proportion ( =5.277, =0.022) of experiences of physical abuse in their self-reported CM. Logistic regression analyses highlight distinct factors: higher antisocial PD traits and physical abuse are associated with male patients, while histrionic PD traits and emotional abuse are associated with female patients. These findings underscore the importance of recognizing and addressing sex-specific manifestations of personality pathology and the nuanced impact of CM in the clinical management of individuals with SZ. The study advocates for tailored interventions that consider the distinct needs associated with sex differences in both personality traits and CM experiences among SZ patients.
Visual experimental study on development of mud film in slurry shield excavation face based on transparent soil technology
In order to solve the problems of grouting diffusion and invisible formation process in shield slurry film forming test, transparent soil and transparent slurry were introduced to carry out shield mud film test based on shield grouting model. Using laser imaging combined with CCD camera (high-speed industrial camera) rapid capture photography technology, through a series of visible physical model tests of slurry diffusion and mud film development under different working conditions, the temporal and spatial conditions of slurry diffusion were observed and recorded in real time to explore the slurry diffusion law and the formation mechanism of mud film in slurry shield excavation face. The phenomenon shows that the smaller the grouting pressure is, the more favorable the formation of mud film is.The mud penetration distance is generally proportional to the grouting pressure. The infiltration distance of the grout increases with time, and the infiltration distance of the grout is similar at each moment under the same grouting pressure. The leachate volume and time show a quadratic function roughly under the same density and mud pressure, and the increase rate of the leachate volume begins to slow down with time.
Optimization of Reclaiming–Loading Scheduling in Dry Bulk Terminals Based on Knowledge-Driven Memetic Algorithm
Reclaiming–loading operations in dry bulk terminals often face conflicts and delays due to limitations in equipment processing capacity and operational line accessibility, which significantly compromise the safety and efficiency of these operations. This paper aims to optimize the reclaiming–loading schedule for each incoming vessel by considering parallel equipment operations and potential conflicts, with the goal of enhancing both the safety and efficiency of the loading processes. Through a detailed analysis of bulk reclaiming and reclaiming–loading mechanisms, we formulate the dry bulk terminal loading scheduling problem to minimize the total operational time for all loading tasks, taking into account constraints such as parallel reclaiming, collaborative loading, operational conflicts, and line accessibility. In order to obtain a good solution, including task execution sequences and allocation of reclaimers and shiploaders, a knowledge-driven memetic algorithm is developed by integrating knowledge-driven mechanisms with problem-specific operators within a memetic computing framework. Finally, numerical experiments for various scales are conducted using the layout and operational data from the Huanghua Port’s coal port area. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed optimization algorithm.
Experimental and Numerical Analysis of Soil Cracking Characteristics under Evaporation
There are numerous cracks on soil surface in nature. These cracks are mainly formed by the continuous water loss and shrinkage of soil under evaporation. Cracks have an important effect on the properties of soil. The analysis of soil moisture movement and cracking characteristics under evaporation is of great significance to the engineering construction in the cracked soil area. In this work, an experimental study was conducted to investigate the development of soil cracks. Crack geometrical parameters were acquired at various developmental stages. According to this, the crack evolution characteristic was described qualitatively. The law of soil water movement was analyzed through the numerical simulation of evaporation effect on cracked soil. The relationship between soil moisture content and crack width was revealed, and the dynamic prediction of crack development under evaporation was realized. The results show that the development and evaporation process of soil cracks can be divided into three distinct stages, and the longer the stable evaporation time, the greater the development of cracks.
Systematic Analysis Method for the Unusual Large Displacement in the Excavations in Soft Soil Area
Based on a subway station excavation construction project in the soft soil area in Nanjing, an informationized monitoring scheme was conducted during the construction of excavation, and the theories of displacement prediction were introduced into the scheme for the evaluation of the horizontal displacement of the retaining structure and the settlement of the surroundings around the excavation. Based on these theories and the monitoring data, a numerical simulation based on the commercial FEM numerical analysis software, Midas GTS NX, was conducted to simulate the whole construction process. To handle the large displacement of the retaining structure observed during the construction, the actual soil layers’ status discovered by excavating, which can reflect the physical characteristics of the soil, the construction condition, and the variation trend of the monitoring data, was used in the back analysis of the factors that induced the large deformation of the retaining structure, and the analysis result was fed back to the countermeasurement organization and design such as erecting temporary steel strut. The effectiveness of these measurements in the aspect of the reduction of the deformation rate was verified, which can provide reference to the design and construction of a similar project in soft soil area.
Differential Learning-Based Memetic Algorithm for Coordinated Scheduling at Dry Bulk Terminals
To address the challenges of intensive task demands, limited resources, and strong operational coupling at dry bulk terminals, this article proposes a Differential Learning-Based Memetic Algorithm (DL-MA) for integrated scheduling of unloading and maintenance tasks. The algorithm embeds a differential learning mechanism within a global evolutionary framework, combining feasibility repair and mild perturbation to guide solutions toward feasible and high-quality regions. A multi-dimensional scoring function is constructed to assess task priority satisfaction, resource balance, and robustness. Experiments under varying task loads and capacity constraints demonstrate that DL-MA consistently outperforms a benchmark genetic algorithm in task completion, fitness value, and structural diversity. The problem addressed is central to intelligent port operations and has broad application potential. The proposed approach is also scalable and adaptable to other complex scheduling environments, offering a robust and efficient tool for intelligent production planning.
A randomized, 4-week double-blind placebo control study on the efficacy of donepezil augmentation of lithium for treatment of acute mania
A significant number of mania patients fail to respond to current pharmacotherapy, thereby there is need for novel augmentation strategies. The results of some early studies showed the effectiveness of cholinomimetics in the treatment of mania. One open case series suggested the efficacy of donepezil in the treatment of bipolar disorder. Our aim was to explore whether an oral cholinesterase inhibitor, donepezil, administered during a 4-week treatment period, would benefit patients with acute mania. We conducted a 4-week double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of donepezil as an adjunctive treatment to lithium in patients with acute mania. Eligible subjects were randomly assigned to receive donepezil or placebo in addition to lithium. Donepezil was started at 5 mg/day, and increased to 10 mg/day in the first week. Patients were rated with the Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS) and Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS) at baseline, day 1, week 1, week 2, and week 4. Out of the 30 patients who were enrolled, 15 were on donepezil and 15 were on placebo. All patients completed the 4-week trial. On the first day, there was a difference of 1.97 units on the psychomotor symptoms scale of the YMRS in the donepezil group as compared to the placebo group (t = 2.39, P = 0.02). There was a difference of 0.57 units (t = 2.09, P = 0.04) in the speech item and a difference of 0.29 units in the sexual interest item (t = 2.11, P = 0.04) in the donepezil group as compared to the placebo group. The total YMRS difference on the first day approached the conventional significance level (1.97 units, t = 1.84, P = 0.07). Over the course of 4 weeks, we failed to find that donepezil produced any significant difference in the YMRS (6.71 units difference, t = -1.44, P = 0.16) or the BPRS scale (1.29 units difference, t = -0.33, P = 0.75) as compared to placebo. Ten subjects (66.67%) in both groups met the criteria for clinical response (Fisher's exact P = 1.00). Five subjects (33.33%) in the donepezil group met the criteria for clinical remission while nine subjects (60.00%) in the placebo group met the remission criteria (Fisher's exact P = 0.27). Use of the oral anticholinergic donepezil had some benefit in the augmentation of lithium treatment on the first day, but did not provide any significant benefits in the long-term.
Analysis on Treatment Effect of Mine Tunnel Construction Spring in Karst Area
The investigation of ultrashallow buried mining method in an interval revealed the existence of the karst fracture zone. The flow rate of 9 springs exposed in the initial excavation was relatively large, and the total water output per hour was nearly 300 m3. The filling materials in karst channels or fissures had the risk of bursting during excavation. Moreover, the ultrashallow buried tunnel undercrossed a special railway line, and the construction required higher surface deformation control. In view of the abovementioned risk problems, based on the grouting ideas of “assessment of influence,” “determination of surrounding rock,” “zone positioning,” and “dynamic grouting,” the grouting design scheme is dynamically optimized, and the grouting construction of surrounding water is cut off. Combined with the tunnel inspection, monitoring data, and numerical analysis, it is verified that the construction technology adopted in the project can ensure the stability of the project, which can provide a reference for similar projects.
Ab Initio Predicted Alloying Effects on the Elastic Properties of AlxHf1−xNbTaTiZr High Entropy Alloys
Using ab initio alloy theory, we investigate the equilibrium bulk properties and elastic mechanics of the single bcc solid-solution AlxHf1−xNbTaTiZr (x = 0–0.7, 1.0) high entropy alloys. Ab initio predicted equilibrium volume is consistent with the available experiment. We make a detailed investigation of the alloying effect of Al and Hf on the equilibrium volume, elastic constants and polycrystalline elastic moduli. Results imply that the partial replacement Hf with Al increases the stability of the bcc phase and decreases the ductility of the AlxHf1−xNbTaTiZr HEAs. The inner ductility of Al0.4Hf0.6NbTaTiZr is predicted by the calculations of ideal tensile strength.
